  • Great Camping Stove System That Can Use Several Different Fuels Great Camping Stove System That Can Use Several Different Fuels
Size: One Size
Over the years, I had acquired several small stoves for outdoor and emergency use. Just about each one required, or used, a different kind of fuel. So, I had almost as many types of fuel as I had stoves. I already had a Trangia alcohol burner that I can use with my Solo Lite stove, which is primarily a wood stove. Then I discovered the Trangia stove system. I chose the 25-6 set for its larger size, the non-stick coated pan and bowls, and the kettle for heating water. It comes with an alcohol burner. While this set is too big for backpack camping (in my opinion), it is perfect for car camping or for emergencies. It is wider, and provides more support for larger cooking utensils than do a lot of the smaller stoves I have. The design of the stove provides a built-in windscreen. While cooking over wood has a nice "roughing it" feel to it, being able to pour a couple of ounces of alcohol into the burner, light it, and have heat in a few seconds is so much nicer and easier. The kettle is the best thing I have for heating water. It's easier to use than the smaller pots and cups that I had been using. While researching the stove set, I learned of the Trangia gas burner, an extra option. The connection fits onto the standard iso-butane bottles (the short squat ones). The burner head fits into the same hole in the stove that the alcohol burner normally goes into. And I found that adapters are available that allow the gas burner to be attached to the 1 pound (green) propane bottles or the 8.8 ounce butane cannisters. The gas burner, and the various fuels, was much quicker in bringing a pot of water to a boil compared with the alcohol burner. Of course, the alcohol, or HEET Yellow, is cheaper and easier to store and carry. Another, inexpensive, option is the gel burner, basically an aluminum cup with a lid. It also fits into the same space as the alcohol burner. I tested it with a couple of gel products and the Esbit solid tablets. They all work fine for heating a small kettle of water. While these extras are not required to use the stove, they give me much more versatility. I can use my multiple fuel sources with the same stove. I do have larger stoves that also use the propane and butane cannisters, but for basic heating water or food, the Trangia stove probably uses less fuel than the larger stoves. I tested it with all the different fuels I had, and they all worked well. If you need a stove for car camping, or for emergency use, the Trangia stove may be what you need. ... show more

  • Great set
Size: One Size
This was my first Trangia set. I have tried many DIY alcohol stoves and disliked them. Before this system, you couldn't do anything except boil water. The Trangia burner ticks off all my objections to alcohol stoves except one: you still can't see the flame in daylight. The wind screen is absolutely the best I've used in 50 years of camping. It's much better than the fold-up aluminum and foil screens and actually seems to make the burner work better. The simmer ring allows me to actually cook things like eggs and conserves fuel. I can put the stove out by just closing the simmer ring and dropping it on the burner. The screw cap lets me save fuel for the next meal. The frypan is good. I like the size (which is why I went for the 25 rather than the 27) and the nonstick coating is, in my opinion, required. The nonstick pots work great for soups and even popcorn. This is the first time I've had a kettle for camping and I find myself using it a lot more than I thought I would. Overall, I'm very happy with this kit. ... show more

  • Great Stove for Bike touring
Size: One Size
We purchased this stove for the two of us. It is very versatile as it not only is the stove but all the pots we will need too. The fuel is easy to find and we have not had any scorching using undiluted denatured alcohol. I have found that one filling of fuel will heat both pots and the kettle to boiling or make wwater for coffee and pancakes for us both. Stove is very stable and I think safer than many others. Anc maybe most of all I love how it all fits together in one neat kit for carrying. Great product that I expect will last us for years.years. One note, storing fuelin the burner does not seem to work. We would suggest that you just let it burn itself empty. ... show more

  • Trangia 25-6 UL - All you could ever want
Size: One Size
Wow! Simply Wow! Beautiful piece of Equipment. This may be a little heavy for those ultralight backpackers who want to shed every possible ounce, but if you are not to worried about this, then this stove is the way to go. Beautiful construction and rugged yet lightweight. Plenty of capacity for what you would need on the trail. Actually, this thing would cook more for like 2 or 3 people at a time. If you want something a little smaller for just one person look into getting the 27 Series Trangia. If you are like me and just go on 2 or 3 day hikes and weight is not a huge issue to you then this stove will be perfect for you. It works in all conditions. Rain or Shine, Wind or no Wind. Fuel is plentiful and cheap. Overall, this thing is awesome and if you just do car camping or some light backwoods trekking the Trangia 25-6 UL is for you. ... show more

  • Boy those prices just keep climbing don’t they?
Size: One Size
The set itself is excellent. I have used Trangia products for years and they are great. The 25 is a big win for larger meals and still pretty good quality. The prices are getting outrageous! This very same set three years ago was less then $70! It just keeps jumping up. This has to stop. Greed is the true culprit along with propaganda. Anyway, I hope everyone enjoys their 25, just don’t give into theft while doing so. ... show more

  • SWEET
Size: One Size
Works very well. You need to bear in mind that you've got a hotspot in the center of the pan directly above the burner. Still playing with the burner damper. Trying to find The Sweet spot.

  • It's Trangia,,, still setting the standard
Size: One Size
I have a Trangia mini-T, a Trangia 27-6, several trangia spirit burners, and now a Trangia 25-6,,, trangia sets the standard for camp stove/cook sets. Everything a camp set needs, no moving parts, very compact, weighs just ounces, and lasts forever,,, great stuff
