  • Great for standalone use, even better with other Omada-compatible products
Size: 8 Port w/ 4 PoE+ Port, 62W Style: 8 Port w/ 4 PoE+ Port, 62W
I recently bought a second one for my bedroom, as I had a great experience with the first one I set up for my living room. As someone who works in IT, this is a great switch for someone who would want to experiment with home networking, but more on that later. For around $100, this is not a switch you use if you need only extra Ethernet ports and you aren't configuring anything. The noise and heat output are not really noticeable, but I also want to note I keep my living room switch in a TV stand with the sliding doors closed. It is also a serviceable size, on par with other managed network switches, if not smaller than some. So in terms of build quality and value, it is a steal. Standalone mode provides tons of functionally and custom port configurations, but where the networking side really shines is with the Omada Cloud Controller. Especially as someone who used this switch in tandem with other TP-Link network products, the Omada controller (which I run it off my PC as it is free; there is a hardware controller but it really is not needed) provides a full end-to-end network management experience. I have a wired VPN router from them and an Access Point (they have routers that provide WiFi as well but I needed them separate because of how my home is laid out) alongside the switch. I would not pass up the opportunity to experiment inside the controller, as it adds a surprising amount of features that can keep up with some of the networking interfaces I utilize in my profession on a daily basis. ... show more

  • Excellent product, meets all expectations
Size: 8 Port w/ 4 PoE+ Port, 62W Style: 8 Port w/ 4 PoE+ Port, 62W
I purchased the TP-Link TL-SG2008P switch, and I am very satisfied with my purchase. The product arrived in perfect condition and worked flawlessly right out of the box. The setup was straightforward, and its performance has been impeccable, handling all my network needs with ease. I love that it supports PoE, making it much easier to connect devices. The build quality is solid, and it's clear that this is a well-designed piece of equipment built to last. Overall, this switch has exceeded my expectations, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a reliable and efficient switch. ... show more

  • Works with Omada
Size: 8 Port w/ 4 PoE+ Port, 62W Style: 8 Port w/ 4 PoE+ Port, 62W
TPLink has too many different switch types for a neophyte like me to sort out. This one works with Omada.

  • Very simple to setup with Omada Software
Size: 8 Port w/ 4 PoE+ Port, 62W Style: 8 Port w/ 4 PoE+ Port, 62W
Got this for my church, actually I bought two of them. Both were recognized without issue from the Omada app. Was able to setup a separate multiple networks including a guest network with bandwidth throttling. I will say I followed a really good video tutorial on YouTube that was close to what I needed. I paired these both with different TP-Link APs and really have had no issues or need to reset the device. Been going strong for about a month, we'll see how it works long term. I've never configured a managed switch before, but was pleasantly surprised with the ease and price, thanks to the Omada app. ... show more

  • Seamless installation, immediate improvement
Size: 8 Port w/ 4 PoE+ Port, 62W Style: 8 Port w/ 4 PoE+ Port, 62W
I was having issues with an unmanaged switch, and ultimately selected this TP-Link device due to my general satisfaction with many other products I had previously purchased from the brand. As with my other buys, the available features and value for money are excellent. Within minutes, I was able to install and diagnose through the web interface that I had a loopback issue clogging up my network. 2 minutes later I had significantly improved my networks' performance! Many of the features are beyond my current needs or knowledge, but as my home network grows, I'll be sure to start tapping in them. Overall, great product! ... show more

  • Very capable switch
Size: 8 Port w/ 4 PoE+ Port, 62W Style: 8 Port w/ 4 PoE+ Port, 62W
This switch has tons of features, so many that navigating the setup menus can be confusing. But it functions perfectly well as a dumb switch without any configuration at all. The main reason I bought this switch is that it has a built-in DHCP server. Unfortunately I've been having a problem with that. I have many devices on my local network, and I assign reserved IP's to all of them based on the MAC address. But for some reason, the DHCP server does not recognize and assign the reserved IP to two of my devices, instead assigning an IP from the free pool. Except for those two devices, all other devices receive the correct IP. I am still working on this issue. I have triple-checked the MAC addresses I am providing and they are correct. Update, January 7, 2023. After extended discussions with TP Link support the DHCP problem is resolved. For anyone else experiencing this problem, the solution is to set the ping count on the DHCP server configuration to zero. Update February 4, 2023. New issue with the DHCP server. For manually assigned reserved IP addresses, the DHCP server always assigns a non-configurable lease time of "infinite" (ignoring any lease time one configures in the pool settings). This is undesirable. If you make a change to the DHCP server configuration (example: change DNS providers) there is no way to propagate that change to all DHCP clients short of rebooting the clients (or, in some cases, restarting networking if the device supports that). I have made this point to TP-Link support and they are referring it to the developers. ... show more

  • This OMADA POE switch is a must have if building an OMADA System!!
Size: 8 Port w/ 4 PoE+ Port, 62W Style: 8 Port w/ 4 PoE+ Port, 62W
This switch works as advertised. The separate controller works great. It made the setup of the the system and EAP's EASY PEASY!! This OMADA System provides a lot of information as a remote. I have a small system using 2 EAPS at my remote site. I can view. check on conditions. see if site is up. I recommend setting up Controller and Poe switch first. Once up online and configured (Easy for NON TECH guy like me) then add EAPs and other stuff. Controller will find and configure as per your main settings. (SUPER EASY INTERFACE). Stick with TPLINK OMADA product line. My remote personnel are SUPER PLEASED with performance and WIFI coverage inside buildings and out. It has allowed personnel to work outside and in warehouse areas with full coverage without relogging in to different areas. Its seamless. I would recommend for Home use to get WIFI coverage in large open areas. I wouldn't recommend without this controller. ... show more

  • High expectations High expectations
Size: 8 Port w/ 4 PoE+ Port, 62W Style: 8 Port w/ 4 PoE+ Port, 62W
I have been waiting awhile for this switch to become available in the USA (TP-Link has had it listed a coming soon for many months) and it just showed up on Amazon as Xmas was hitting. I have had a TP-Link SG2008 for over 5 years with dependenable 27/7/365 service - it's a tank. When I needed an 8-port switch with PoE, this was my goto choice. For two reasons. One that extremely high reliability of its predecessor that I am expecting TP-Link has instilled in this namesake SG-2008P V1 model (V1 is the LATEST new release for the PoE model other version numbers are non-P ones). And two, it's a desktop switch with REAR FACING ports. This seems hard AF to find nowadays, and is in my top 3 requirements for any switch mounted off a rack. I've had the unit in service this week and it's working great so far. The firmware is richer than competing offerings from D-Link or Netgear imo. The included 4 rubber feet was a nice touch as well. While it would have been nicer to have all 8 ports provide PoE, I'll take the other requirements met with the 4 it does give. ... show more
