  • WiFi 7 has amazing speeds
Style: WiFi 7 BE5000 Size: 3 Pack
Let me start by saying that I have worked in IT installing WiFi networks for over 18 years now. This is not the typical product I would even look at for myself as I prefer more business/enterprise/power user equipment that gives me total control over the settings. That being said this type of Mesh system was designed for the none-tech savvy individual that wants to get a wireless mesh system setup in their own home or elsewhere with minimal effort/tech required knowledge. This system really does setup easy and anyone can do it. All you need to do is plug in the 3 Deco units, 1 plugs directly to the internet modem or ONT (Optical Network Terminal). The other 2 plug into power using the included AC Adapters and should be placed an equal distance away from the main base station (the one that plugs into your modem or ONT) Then you grab your phone, Android or IOS and download the TP-LINK Deco App and the setup is basic and straight forward as it walks you through setting up a wireless network. You can complete it in 5 minutes. Then all you have to do is wait for the mesh system to automatically connect which took 3-4 minutes and it was setup and working. It was seamless and extremely simple for the none-tech savvy user. Seriously I think anyone can get this system working. The only requirement to get this system setup is you must have an active internet connection. If your internet is down you will not be able to complete the setup. The Deco themselves are pretty small and low profile so they can be placed just about anyplace without standing out. There are a bunch of settings for those who want to adjust parental controls, VPN (OpenVPN, the others L2TP/PPTP should be avoided they are insecure and obsolete), QoS, Port Forwarding, and even LED Control (THANK YOU, I like that I can turn off the LED so they don't bother me at night) Enough about the setup process. The transfer speed of WiFi 7 providing your device supports it is ridiculously fast for WiFi. I am used to seeing these speeds over gigabit wired connections, but getting over 1Gb per second up and down to a single client is insane. Even with additional clients the total bandwidth shared is nearly 1.4Gb between devices, which is blazing fast for WiFi. Most people won't need those speeds buts its nice to finally be able to get full Gigabit speeds over WiFi and with WiFi 7 this kit will be future proof well into the foreseeable future. I think those who are less tech savvy will be happy with this setup and the breeze it is to configure and get working. ... show more

  • BE5000: Very good backwards-compatibile newly-released WiFi 7 mesh router. Lacks Wi-Fi 6.
Style: WiFi 7 BE5000 Size: 1 Pack
Note that the vast majority of ratings and reviews (good and bad) are for older TP-Link mesh systems like the sometimes problematic AX3000. I found only one review for this BE5000. The company has lazily updated an existing years-old product page for this new unit that was released in October 2024, so you'll need to sort reviews by date to see the real story. The “Top Reviews” are for older very different units. If you already have an older TP-Link mesh system like the Deco X55 that uses Wi-Fi 6 (or earlier models), you can easily add this unit to your network. Or, if you bought the $260 BE25 3-pack and want to expand its coverage, this product is a solid choice. Note that this unit does not have Wi-Fi 6 but will work with older ones that do. For the uninitiated, setup is performed via the excellent TP-Link app, rather than fiddling with a confusing intranet site via a Cat cable connected to your computer like the old days with a single router. My research revealed that some users of the X55 system experienced sporadic connection issues when moving from room to room. TP-Link says this issue been improved with new “seamless roaming” and Multi-Link Operation (MLO). By balancing data across different channels, MLO should improve smooth connectivity across multiple devices. To take full advantage of Wi-Fi 7 and advanced security features, you simply make this the prime router, with older units relegated to secondary units. You add it as an additional unit via the app and then designate it as the main router. My realized speeds were very good with no connection hiccups and setup was easy. Some critical reviews here reveal some serious issues, but most of them are from older units. Again, sort those by date. TP-Link has a tech support phone number with real people to talk to if you hit a snag. No router is perfect. But this one should be at the top of your consideration list. Again, there are few reviews for the BE25 system, and none from mainstream review sites, so you may wish to wait to buy until those are published. My rating system: 5 Stars = Knocks it out of the park. A great value! 4 Stars = Excellent product. A solid buy. 3 Stars = It provides some value, but perhaps not as advertised. 2 Stars = A little dubious, so do your research. Read the critical reviews! 1 Star = Avoid this product and look elsewhere. ... show more

  • Awesome
Style: WiFi 7 BE5000 Size: 1 Pack
Currently in My home I have a 2-pack TPLInk X5700 Triband WiFi6 Mesh router. It works really great and my whole house works seamlessly. I got this WiFi 7 router to see how it would compare. Here are my observations: 1. When attempting to integrate this WiFi 7 router with my existing WiFi6 mesh system, it didn’t work too great. Since my older system is a Triband, it dedicates 2 bands (2.4Ghz and 5Ghz) to connected devises and then has its own dedicated 5Ghz band just for backhaul (communication between the routers). Since this new router is only Dual band, it was eating into shared bandwidth. 2. When this router is connected by itself, its awesome. The speed is blazing. I seems as though all my devices are hardwired directly into the router. I don’t experience any delay. The wider bandwidth on the 5Ghz channel is a stark improvement over the WiFI 6 technology. 3. If I were to go back in time, I would get a 2-pack Tri-band WiFi 7 router. Having a wired backhaul is not feasible for my home so having that dedicated band for router communication is a game changer. I’m ... show more
