Background: Im a 40+ year IT professional with mix of 'hobby', 'household', 'family', 'work' and 'IOT devices' in a 3 story brick house. While I know what Im doing with low level networking running several business grade GB routers, over 50 devices online etc - sharing a household with family, consumer devices (TVs, Nest cameras, iRobots etc) plus work related IOT devices -- I dont want to have to 'muck with things' - I want my networking to work like my electricity, set and forget. I replaced a fairly new Netgrear 5 Mesh system with TP-Link AXE5400. The netgear worked OK but had fundimental problems. It only allows 1 node to have HW backhaul, would require rebooting once every week or 2, and would get 'confused' by the topology -- setting up the nodes daisy-chained after a while. This AXE5400 "just worked" with no issues at all. The app, unlike some reviewers comments, was easy to use and just the right amount of detail. I configured it for AP mode instead of Router mode (I have my own dedicated router). The ETH HW backhaul worked perfectly, I can pin devices to a specific mesh node or let them roam. I havent had to reboot anything for a month. By using the same SSID and password as my Netgear -- all 40+ devices reconnected without any issues at all -- including some pesky hard-to-reach nest cameras, IOT devices, consumer and work devices all just worked flawlessly. This has achieved my goal of "Set and forget" - has excellent speed and roaming, great coverage. Would highly recommend for large home use.
