  • A router worthy of the Empire!
The router arrived in white box packaging but appeared to be complete. The box was neatly packed and contained the router, 8 antennas, power supply, an Ethernet cable, a quick start guide and refurbished warranty card. The router as well as the antennas looked new and devoid of any signs of usage. The power supply appeared to be slightly used (unpacked and rewound by hand) but in good condition. The antennas all inserted correctly and appeared to have no bent pins. The power supply connector inserted properly and did not feel loose. Once assembled, this router looks like it could be a guarded secret of the Empire. I hooked up the router to the cable modem and fired it up. I connected to the admin console, and I was greeted with a router setup dialog. The router was configured and connected in under 5 minutes. I was immediately prompted to install a new firmware version. I found the admin console to be adequate, though there was a small bug in the display of the pages in the browser. Some panels and dialogs lacked a scroll bar, or the scroll bar didn't appear until you actively focused on the sub menu. This was apparent during the initial setup when being asked to select the time zone from a drop-down menu. The drop-down only contained maybe 5 entries but you could not scroll down since the scrollbar was missing and the list would not respond to cursor control. Eventually I was able to get to the correct time zone by selecting the last item on the list then dropping down again, which would populate the list with the next set of time zones, and repeating that until i got to the correct time zone. There were a few features that were not readily apparent as to their function, or that they affected the visibility of settings I expected to see in a router. The Smart Connect feature (which is enabled by default), let's the router automatically manage the clients individual connections to the router, both the frequency band (2.4gHz and both 5gHz networks), as well as automatically setting the channels of the individual networks. The router will move clients between the networks automatically to get the signal (similar to a mesh network). Only time will tell if this works well or just keeps moving your devices around needlessly. When enabled the individual WiFi channel settings are invisible and cannot be set. It will likely need to be disabled to do any advanced partitioning of the devices (streaming/NAS, IoT/automation, printers, gaming, etc.), or VLANs. That's all I have for now, since I've only had the router for one day. ... show more

  • Incredible Speeds
So TP Link, about 3 weeks ago, I got an AX class router that was dead out of the box, so I wasn't super happy about that, but this AX11000, I am getting the highest speeds I have ever had. I have had Google fiber for 5 years, but something in the network just wasn't working right. Anyway, this router solved everything, and we have smoking speeds and great coverage, and haven't even added any extenders yet. The only tiny tiny complaint I have is that the "Gaming" interface for management is like a Metallica album cover with smoke background and black and red instead of the more readable blue and white you get with the normal TP Link app and web-based interface. But for that, incredible product, love the speed. ... show more

  • Fast router, but UI could use some work
I got this to replace a TP-Link AX-50 router that just didn't seem up to the load (about 20 devices) of my network. This router seems to work well, and speeds are noticeably better, especially for WIFI-6 devices (previously my laptop would get a connection at about 700 Mbps, now it is consistently 1200 Mbps). The only issue I have is that when using the "shared" wifi setting, so that the router manages the 2.4Ghz/5 Ghz networks, it often seems to put my phone on the 2.4 instead of 5 Ghz channels. The other thing that is really a user preference thing is the App/web interface could use some work. They are trying to focus on gaming, instead of just giving access to router functions, which means I often have to search for settings. The app is also lacking in the ability to adjust most of the advanced features, such as guest networks, requiring you to go through the web interface. ... show more

  • The Beast
I was using L2TP and IPVanish, but have switched to each client chooses or not to use the VPN. The AX11000 could not handle the load with L2TP. I have Echo speakers/intercom, tablets, phones, guests, laptops, TV's and VPN all of it was too much. HOWEVER, that aside, this Tri-Band Wi-Fi router is over the top spectacular. Lots of routers can do this, but not as easily: Never set a static IP address again! If you have a network printer or NAS and you want a static IP, just get the devices MAC address and reserve the IP address for that MAC. And just have it working, and jump on the router, and the MAC address and a working IP are there, there there, to reserve in the future. That NIC with that MAC will get the reserved IP address, every time! Pick relatively empty WiFi channels using a smartphone WiFi analyzer. Put all the Echo devices on the same WiFi band, for sure! EIGHT Ethernet ports, besides the WAN port! Anyone walks into the room, "What the hell is that?" ... show more

  • Doesn't get much better than this thing.
This Router was exactly what I was looking for and man does it deliver I do not have a single bad thing to say about this router. The setup was so easy and has functionality I would have never guess it had. I would recommend this product to anyone needing a boost for Game Consoles, Blink Camera or Streaming. ... show more

  • Fast With Fatal Flaw
The router is absolutely fast and stable but there's an issue if you need to access the router remotely or if you use the IP address to try to change any settings. You have to restart the router for the login error to fix so if you're not home you're stuck if the family has any issues. Went back to a slower TP-Link (AX4500) router and the issues are no longer there but I lose the extra lane. ... show more
