I just got this film installed, and I am happy with how well it looks from the inside (the slight tint) as well as from the outside. However, bear in mind that this product is shiny on both sides meaning that the side that cannot be looked through will likely be the side with the most light, as such its difficult to see through from the outside during the day when outdoor light is brighter than indoor light and vice versa. Mine did not come with instructions, but it did come with a small box knife and a plastic squeegee and it was even the pretty easy to install I have seen comments about the width of the film being smaller than expected and I believe this is intentional due to how the film bubbles at the edges when too close to the edge of the glass. Overall I am happy with this product but I did deduct a star due to the lack of instructions and inability to be a privacy film at night. For others who did not receive instructions either the way I put mine up was as follows: Using tape to hold the top edge of the film to the (near) edge of the window (you will want a small gap, you will thank yourself later) flatten the film out to the bottom of the window and cut to length with the knife while leaving a gap at the bottom as well Once cut take the film off the window and spray the window with a water or alcohol and dish soap mix which will make application easier Now, get two new pieces of tape and use them on a corner to peel the clear backing off of the adhesive side and fold the tape over in some way to prevent re-sticking. Lay the film down on a table or the floor on top of a drop cloth near the window shiny (not clear film) side down and peel backing off while spraying the film with the solution from before to keep it from sticking to itself until the entire film is backing free (for larger windows you might not want to peel the whole thing but mine was small so it wasn't an issue, I'd recommend peeling from top to bottom and stopping halfway in that case) Spray the widow again to ensure the whole thing is still wet (usually just the top needs it) and align the top edge of the film with the near top edge of your window and slide it to adjust as needed Check for hairs, fibers, or lint at this step and try not to leave finger prints when you remove them Starting at the top of the film squeegee the solution and air bubbles out from center to edge and work your way down holding your squeegee at an angle so that the bubbles don't go back up the film (For example: top center to left edge, top center to right edge, move down repeat) The process should be simple from there, if the edges bubble weirdly you may have it too close to an edge and will need to adjust or trim the film to fix it The edges do peel up occasionally so just squeegee them back down and they should be fine ... show more

I installed this film on my bedroom windows exactly the way it is supposed to be installed, with soapy water and careful squeegeeing. I was doubtful. My windows face north and get an unobstructed blast of Florida sun from the west all afternoon and evening. I’m talking seriously hot, even in April, when I’m posting this review. Sure enough, the film started coming off the windows after two days. I had a plan. My apartment building is 50 years old and I’m not in the mood to do any glass reglazing (I know how but I don’t work for free). The caulk on my windows is intact but uneven. Though I cut the film carefully, there were still tiny gaps that outside light shone through. Since part of my reason for putting up window film was to dull the building’s exterior lighting and glare of passing vehicle headlights, the leaking light got annoying. I ordered 1.5 inch blackout tape here on Amazon (item # B094734X2M). It happens to work great on annoying little LED lights, if you need that. It also worked to edge the window film, eliminating the light gap, and securing the film to the aluminum frames. It isn’t pretty but I don’t care. I like lower electricity bills and a good night’s sleep. The film cuts the daylight down by about half and it absolutely blocks heat. My bedroom is noticeably cooler during the day but I can still see outside - it’s less claustrophobic than keeping my blinds closed all the time. As other reviewers have said, you cannot see through the film from the outside during the day, but you can see through it at night. You will still need something for privacy, like blinds or drapes. If you are a shift worker, or if you work at home and like to go into a room and meditate to de-stress (is that just me?), combine this film with the tape and blackout drapes. It will be *really dark.* You might not need the tape and all that, but I thought I’d suggest it. Do apply the film carefully, with plenty of soapy water, to avoid wrinkles or gaps. ... show more

Got the 5% and it's AMAZING for controlling the heat inside the house! It's so cool inside especially when the sun blasts through the windows. I definitely 100% recommend this to anyone! And a bonus, it makes your windows look super high end from the outside! They look black from the outside and it's sleek! 👌 In the pic, both white curtains are fully closed shut.     • Excellent heat blocking capability
Definitely a learning curve with install, but once you figure it out, you're good to go. Provides substantial improvement to a room with floor to ceiling windows, and that's with film on only two of the three bays directly facing the sun.
