I am a 75 year old man and today I installed the TOTO CST744SL#01 Drake 2-Piece Ada Toilet with Elongated Bowl all by myself! The quality of this toilet and the straight forward instructions made it a project I was unafraid to attempt by myself. I did seek out some professional advice from available YouTube instructional videos. I gathered the tools and parts needed to complete the task and proceeded step by step to first remove my old 2 piece Mansfield toilet and clean the area in preparation to install my new Toto. This product, in my opinion, is the best manufactured for a few dollars more than what you'll find at your local Lowe's or Home Depot. Buying it on Amazon was a no brainer with delivery right to my front door. One suggestion; remove the tank box and bowl box from their larger shipping box if you need to bring them upstairs like I did. I used a "Better Than Wax" seal made by Fluidmaster (also bought on Amazon). The worst part of the whole installation for me was sore leg muscles for a couple days afterward from lifting the assembled toilet onto the seal/drain. ... show more

    • This TOTO CST744SL#03 Drake Elongated is By Far the Best Toilet I Have Ever Owned
As the title of this review indicates, this TOTO CST744SL#03 Drake Elongated Hdcp Bowl and Tank, Bone is the best toilet I have ever owned. That includes toilets my parents owned when I was a child. My wife says the same thing. We have a relatively small house which has 2½ baths. We bought the house new in 1992 and it came with three builders' grade American Standard Plebe toilets. Over many years, we had nothing but trouble with those toilets and had to replace various parts many times and we even replaced the entire mechanism three times. Finally in 2014 we had "had it" with these units and decided to buy new toilets. After much research by both my wife and myself, we chose this one. We were naturally going to buy them through our plumber but we found that Amazon beat the plumber's best price by $100.00 per toilet (and he said he would sell the toilets to us at his cost). So, even with some trepidation, we ordered them from Amazon on May 1, 2014. We ordered at the same time three TOTO SS114#03 Transitional SoftClose Elongated Toilet Seat, Bone ; this is the best toilet seat we have ever owned (even though we have sometimes needed to offer usage instructions to guests ["Toilet Seat 101"!]). Everything arrived two days later via UPS; the toilets were packaged in two parts each, all in separate boxes. The UPS driver was kind enough to place all of the boxes in our foyer. As Prime members, in addition to the good price, we even received free shipping! Our plumber came the next day and installed them for us, charging only his installation fee (which was very reasonable). I have waited three years to write this review because I wanted to make certain that the excellence of these toilets was no fluke and that they would be long-lasting. They are. Last year I purchased three Korky 2021BP G-Max Flapper For TOTO Toilet Repairs, 3-Inch "just in case" but so far have not needed to install them. (I did install one when I first received them just to make sure that they fit; they do.) My wife and I cannot recommend this toilet (and the seats we purchased) too highly. They are comfortable, quiet, easy-to-clean and so far they have not clogged even once! They just work. For what more could you ask? Obviously I highly recommend them and I also recommend that you at least consider buying them through Amazon. As I mentioned, we were a bit leery of buying something like this online but, in the event, the process was as smooth and as excellent as it could be. Amazon packed the toilets well and the free Prime shipping was "icing on the cake." Were we to need toilets sometime in the future, we would buy them from Amazon (not that we think that we'll need any new ones in the foreseeable future!)     • Is it possible to love a toilet?

This toilet just works. No problems with flushing, stays clean, and looks great. It was a bit of a tight fit, so measure before installing. Measured standard 12" from wall to center of pipe, but a tight fit. We purchased the taller and longer style which has been great. I thought if anybody was going to complain about the height, it would be my ten year old daughter, but if I may be graphic, it is her toilet of choice in our three bathroom house. PROS: Stylish, so far has flushed everything (to those who clog toilets, I really wonder what you're doing and/or eating. A courtesy flush half way through would seem to solve the problem. I'm guessing a lot of toilet paper on top of the organic material). Film does not build-up on the sides of the toilet, stays VERY clean after two months. Have not had to take a brush to it yet and looks like the day it was installed. The lid I purchased feels different, but it is not bad as others have noted - but I can see their point. Like the slow closing cover, fits fine. I did take the advice of another poster and purchased a different lid than what I think is recommended. Definitely get the slow-closing lid if you have kids. Its been great not hearing a slamming lid on porcelain. Finally, flushes incredibly quickly and re-fills the tank fairly quietly in comparison to the old toilet. CON: Really the only con I have is cosmetic. The tank cover doesn't look like it fits properly - or what I'm used to seeing. We had the toilet professionally installed since they were doing some plumbing work anyway (so I can't comment on the difficulty of installation). Anyway, I asked the plumber if it was supposed to fit like that as it didn't cover the sides, just kind of sat on top of the tank. He assured me that it was the right cover, and that it just sits that way and looks a bit odd - but was indeed correct. I can see how the toilet seat can be a negative as it feels different, like it "leans" or "slopes" down and inward, but have become used to it. Again, just a different feel than the 'flatter' toilet seats, but not uncomfortable per say. CONCLUSION: I used my American Express points to purchase and on top of the more than 40% sales discount, received it for free. Would have definitely paid more, though, as its a quality toilet. It fills quickly and is quiet. It flushes very quickly and efficiently. I'm not sure about the engineering, but it flushes straight back versus the gravity swirl of older toilets.
