  • Shallow option
This toilet is nice and seems high end to me, without being expensive. We needed a toilet that was shallow from the flange hole to the wall, and this toilet was the best we found. I still had to build an alcove for the toilet, but at least we could still put up the wall. (Bad picture, but figured I'd still include it.) ... show more

  • If fit my unique situation with a 9.5 inch rough-in
Like many others on here my plumbing situation was unique in 1 bathroom, the rough-in (distance from center of flange to wall) was only 9.5 inches, not the standard 12 inch. I tried 2 other toilets (including the 10 inch American Standard) and they would not fit in my bathroom without taking the wall out). I had to cut a small space in the bottom of the baseboard, but then the TOTO 10" toilet fit in perfectly on my 9.5 inch rough-in. Big sigh of relief that I found this. As for the Toilet itself - can't really review it much as i'ts only been installed for 1 day. Looks nice, sits nice. Did require a "2nd flush" to clear a residual trace amount. My only negative (rated 3 stars on the install) is not that it was difficult to install (lining up the 3 points on tank to base was a little bit of a pain because I had no room to tell if the back was OK) but they only provide you some of the parts and hardware you will need. They don't provide bolts for the base to the flange or a wax ring or a toilet seat. However they give you valve connector for the supply line which you almost certainly won't need because supply lines already have them. Odd. Not sure why anyone selling a toilet wouldn't just sell the WHOLE TOILET? but instead make the customer go to the hardware store and purchase the extra parts needed. Every other toilet I've purchased include all the hardware needed. Overall nice toilet, arrived in good condition (packaged well) and fits into a tight space with only 9.5" rough-in so it really got me out of a jam! Update: After using it for over a week now, this is really a good quality toilet. The flushing issue mentioned above has not happened since the first flush... so it's all good. Comfortable, quiet, good quality. ... show more

  • Handles all the toilet paper.
We have five toilets in our house. We kept a plunger next to each toilet, because periodically each would get plugged up because of the amount of toilet paper. Two years ago, the flushing mechanism became problematic in one toilet and we had another with exactly the same mechanism so we decided to change those two out with this model Toto. After we had replaced two, we never had any problem with the exchanged ones becoming plugged. Because the Toto was not problematic, and the other three toilets continued to plug up, we decided to swap them all out. We had the plumber change the next three. Now, after having all five toilets (four years for the first two, and two years for the next three) for an extended period, we have never had a single plugged toilet. We have also not had any problem with the flush mechanism although we have had two of this model for over four years. I can't comment on how difficult or easy it was to replace the older toilets because the plumber did that, but I can tell anyone that this model never gets plugged. I have removed the plungers from the bathrooms, leaving only one in the basement. One other point. The height is called "Universal" in the description. it is perhaps two inches higher than the ones we replaced, but the height is much more comfortable. We are fully satisfied with the toilets we replaced with the Toto Drake. ... show more

  • Very Efficient
This toilet is fantastic the way it handles solids as well as liquids. It fills very fast. Ours fills in less than 20 seconds and shuts off. One problem I had was that the bowl appears to be misshaped underneath. When I installed it the bowl rocked front to back so I took it back off the mounting flange which sticks up from the floor about 3/8" and examined it. I could not see anything wrong so I reinstalled with a different type of wax ring. The toilet it replaced was a Kohler and it sat flush front to back and side to side. The only thing I can figure is that the horn is extending to low from the bottom of the toilet and contacts the mounting flange. If you have a mounting flange that is even with the floor or below this should not be a problem. To correct the issue I had to shim the front of the toilet. Other than than the toilet is far superior to the Kohler or any other toilet we have had. One flush will take care of everything. Also you may wish to inspect the mounting flange when you take your old toilet off. Ours was cracked where the floor to toilet bolt puts pressure on the plastic flange. Luckily there is a flange repair kit you can buy. I had to buy two as each side was cracked. I guess the previous installer over tightened the mounting bolts. In retrospect I wish I had bought the installation offered by Amazon as everything that could go wrong did. Even the shut off valve failed and would not shut the water to toilet off. I had to turn the master water valve off. So cracked flange, rocking toilet and bad shutoff valve. I hate plumbing. ... show more

  • Very nice quality work.
Fits perfectly for our 9 inch rough in. It is a bit loud when refilling after flush. Install bolts were not long enough for recessed toilet flange. Ended up using part of the install bolts as nuts, and buying longer bolts to put in from the top.
