Features

  • TWO-PART, MARINE GRADE EXPANDING FOAM cures very hard and rigid, with high compressive strength ideal for a number of marine and residential applications, including structural reinforcement, architectural castings, art projects and flotation
  • 6 POUNDS PER CUBIC FOOT HIGH-DENSITY FORMULA is perfect for casting, carving, sculpture, plug making, sign making, flotation for boats and buoys, floating decoys, part fabrication, replicating wooden parts, rigidifying, structural support and more
  • FAST-SETTING, CURES TO A 94% CLOSED CELL FOAM, where each cell traps air and prevents liquids such as water, gas, and oil from penetrating; once fully cured, foam is compatible with epoxy, polyester or vinyl ester resins, and can be painted
  • IDEAL WORKING TEMPERATURE IS 75-85F. Proper temperature, mixing, timing and venting are critical for proper foam expansion; below 75F expansion decreases; the foam expands rapidly after mixing, so prep the surface in advance and be ready to pour
  • AVAILABLE IN A 2 QUART KIT AND A 2 GALLON KIT. Yield: 2-Quart Kit 3/4 cubic ft, 2-Gallon Kit 3 cubic ft; Flotation Range for 6lb foam: 23 lbs per mixed 2 quart kit and 92 lbs per mixed 2 gallon kit

Description

TotalBoat 6 Lb. density 2-Part Polyurethane Flotation Foam is a versatile, fast-setting expanding foam that cures rigid and strong, making it ideal for a number of structural and artistic applications, It's more than just a flotation foam for boats - use it for filling cavities to support heavy loads, casting, sculpting, making plugs for fiberglass molds, creating floating decoys, fabricating stage and stunt props and much more. This versatile foam can be finished and painted, once cured, and is very easy to cut or carve into shape. Cured marine foam is also compatible with epoxy, polyester, and vinyl ester coatings.TotalBoat two part foam has a simple 1:1 mix ratio that makes it very easy to use, and it cures quickly at room temperature. Always have good ventilation, and wear proper gloves, eye, and clothing protection when you mix or pour foam. Warm conditions of 75-85°F are extremely critical for it to expand properly, as are accurate measuring and thorough mixing. Boat foam expands tremendously by volume, so proper venting is critical in the area where the foam is to be applied. Just mix one part resin and one part activator together, stir vigorously for about 25 seconds, pour immediately into the prepared cavity or mold, and leave undisturbed until cured. The foam hardens, with minimal shrinkage, and can be cut or carved to shape easily. For best results filling larger areas, pour in multiple layers to allow a proper cure and maximum strength bonding between layers. If consecutive pours are not possible, the polyurethane foam will still cure mechanically to itself.Compare to US Composites Expanding Urethane Foam, Fibre Glast Mix and Pour Foam, AeroMarine Pour Foam, and Iso-Pak IsoFoam. TotalBoat 2 Part Marine Foam sets up quickly, and has high compressive strength. All TotalBoat products are developed for boaters, by boaters. We know what works and what doesn't. 100% made in the USA.

best stuff if you know how to use it

  • Doesn't expand as much as you would expect.
Size Name: 2 Gallon Kit
I'm putting a new floor in a 1986 glastron ski boat. The area in the picture is 6 feet long by 2 1/2 feet wide and 4 inches deep. It took the entire 2 gallons (1 gallon mixed) of 6 lb foam to cover the floor. When dry it's solid as a rock. You can walk on it with No compression or crushing. Only problem for me was I expected a greater volume from 1 gallon of mix. I expect that if it was a lower Lb like 3 or 4 it would expand more. Hope this helps you. Frank ... show more

  • Boat foam

Awesome the way it works

  • Used in pool cue shaft
Size Name: 2 Quart Kit
This foam was not quite as dense as I needed, but I also didn’t know what density I needed. But it will work great for other uses.

  • Thins thing works!!
Size Name: 2 Gallon Kit
Amazing product, I’ve been waiting 6 months to try this product. Yesterday, the weather finally allowed me to get some work done. LOVE IT! Expands evenly and fills like crazy My boat will float!!

  • It sets up very fast
Size Name: 2 Quart Kit
With the 50:50 ratio, it was very easy to mix. I would advise only using in quantities that you can pour in 10 to 20 seconds. The good news is that one can add more to the previous area. It bounds to itself quite well.

  • I either got a bad batch or this product is a total rip off
Size Name: 2 Gallon Kit
I either got a bad batch or this product is a total rip off! I purchased the 2 gallon kit which should of been more then enough to fill my kayak but it didn’t even fill it half way! I read the instructions, watched multiple videos, mixed it perfectly and used it in ideal weather conditions. There is no way that the lack of expansion was my fault. I was willing to pay $100 for this product because if it worked as advertised it would have been a great value but now I’m stuck with the bottom third of my kayak filled with foam making the damn thing so lopsided it might be ruined unless I decide to shell out $200 to hopefully have enough to fill the cavity that should already be filled! I am going to try and get a refund and try another brand because I sure as hell ain’t trying this TotalBoat POS brand again! I am so mad that I got tricked into using this crap. The expansion was only a 10th of what they advertised. Amazon you need to offer a 0 Star option because I’m annoyed that I have to even give it 1 star. ... show more

  • To get yield MUST be whipped until the color darkens (dramatically) and viscosity changes.
Size Name: 2 Gallon Kit
The TotalBoat instructions say mix for 15 to 25 secs (depending on temperature), but how "intensely" you mix makes a bigly difference. I needed about a dozen 20-24 oz batches for my project. My yield was low until I got lucky and mixed it (always using a drill mixer) a bit longer / faster - when the two parts transitioned from a uniform creamy tan color to a significantly darker coffee color. The color change was kind of dramatic / instant and it seemed to be accompanied by an equally dramatic change in viscosity. Prior to this little discovery, I would mix it (what I thought was aggressively) for the requisite time, achieve a consistent (creamy tan) color and pour - always to be disappointed with the yield. I was mixing 24 oz in a half gallon container, and there were times, I was concerned it would sling over the top of the pail before "the change". I recommend that you do a greater number of smaller batches instead of one big pour if you can manage it. The expansion "seems" to be more reliable that way, and all you your eggs are not in one basket. I got the 2 gallon - 6lb / CuFt kit, and found that the finished product was robust / tough / solid and probably expanded to the advertised ~3 CuFt volume after I got the mixing thing sorted. The 6lb stuff is definitely harder and denser than any polyurethane foam I've used before. The cured foam can be tough to cut with a serrated knife. Obviously, you need the correct temperature (75 to 90F, yep the tech guy at TB said 80F is great, but up to 90F is ok), and the correct mixture (1:1 by volume, 1:1.09 by weight - because the activator is heavier). Here's why they got 3 stars: 1. Come on Man! TotalBoat knows people are disappointed in yield, and I did everything by the book, only to wind up with - you got it - low yield! They should add a tiny note in their description to make sure purchasers know to whip it good - till it turns coffee colored and the viscosity changes. Heck, they could even make a video. 2. First go around, TotalBoat mailed me only the Part B (see pic). Come on Man! 3. Second round, TotalBoat mailed me a Part A that was leaking! There's an aluminum seal, but the cap was not tight (Drrr!). It's like they have a good product, but then just don't try. I tried to include a link to the technical data sheet for the 6lb foam, but AMZN would not allow that. Godspeed. ... show more
