I purchased my total gym for recovery after a knee injury. The plan was to continue squats on the total gym after PT. It came without the stable foot board though. That was more than 10 years ago. This fit perfectly in my XLS. My wife had severe sepsis last year and lost her ability to stand, let alone walk. She's been building back her leg strength over the last few months and this Total Gym has been the best thing we've found for her to work out on doing "squats". Much better than smaller squat stand that comes with unit. What a difference. Why is total gym still sold with the small squat stand? $$$. Why not offer large squat stand as an option on all Total Gym units, that way you don't have one collecting dust?

    • More comfortable than the smaller squat stand
Not sure it is worth the $$, but it is a little more comfortable than the smaller squat stand. Additionally, if need be, it can more nicely stand in for the pilates bar. I do think it is a little pricy. However, my biggest concern is that it took an extraordinarily long time to deliver the item. The only reason I ordered it is that I was using the smaller squat stand with my heels at the top of the bar, which struck me as potentially dangerous were one or two heels to slip over the top.
