  • What the ole man needed
I'm 64 and sedentary. I've had to isolate myself for over two years to push a project through to completion. Unfortunately, that's a bit imbalanced when it comes to remaining fit. After my health started to suffer and a bout of arthritis made it completely clear that I'd lose what I didn't use, I bought a total gym clone, looked at it for two weeks, set it up and then figured I needed a guide to get started. This DVD was a miracle. I can work out and get stronger each day without over doing my exertion. I've had minimal sore muscles, no exhaustion and incredible progress the three weeks I've done it. No, I don't look like Arnie yet but I feel better about myself, my health and my self image is improving. So is my willingness to get other things done that have been left on the grass-catcher list. What I really like about the DVD is the man who leads the exercise is my age, evidently put this program together and gives me a very clear image of what I want to look like in a few more months. I don't have to get dress and go to a gym where I'd feel very self conscious about my condition. It's the 20 second commute for exercise that's very doable and comfortable. It also combines all three goals with aerobic, stretching and resistance so I am getting stronger without getting hurt. I've been an athlete since eight and taught professional tennis in my twenties as well as having been a health coach for 30+ years and would recommend this route to healthy recovery and maintenance to anyone. For less than $200 I got a total gym clone, a workout mat to cushion my dismounts and master guide to help me put it all together. No fancy gym, no new equipment to learn, no sore muscles, lots of new firm muscles and renewed strength of body and mind. That's a deal anytime. Win-win-win! I getting younger again...cj ... show more

  • What great workouts!
The DVDs contained just what I needed. And WOW, what great workouts. I also learned new ways to use my attachments. So pleased with the variety.

  • Very good instructional video by my very own profesional trainer...just push play...!!!
Great work out lessons for a busy guy..... really gets the most out of every minute on the machine..... Even if you have to review the lessons a couple of times to get the whole work out down, you can always hit replay anytime, and your profesional trainer can redo the lesson as many times as necessary. There are enough routines here to mix up your day to day time on the gym, and never get bored.... just results...!!! ... show more

  • NOT for experienced folks
Okay...so after reading the reviews, I still took the chance hoping to learn a few things I could do on the total gym and hoping it would help me get back in shape. It did show me a few exercises, but it's not that helpful for those of us who have ever visited a gym for any length of time or have started getting back to a strength training routine . The exercises don't provide enough resistance, even on the highest incline. I would recommend it if you are using it as a rehab DVD. ... show more

  • It takes me about twenty minutes and it's keeping me in excellent shape.
I should start off by saying that I'm in my early sixties now, and have become a total fan of the total gym. This DVD was obviously designed for people in my age bracket to maximize our use of the thing. I rotate through these six routines, doing two of the six routines each morning. It takes me about twenty minutes and it's keeping me in excellent shape. And of course, the total gym has elevation changes you can make to increase the difficulty as you get stronger so there's no obsolescence in this disc. This disc really isn't about age either, even though the male instructor is easily in his late fifties. Even young-uns will be challenged if they elevate the total gym sufficiently. You may need to buy the wing attachment (as I did) but it's absolutely worth it. ... show more

  • No Worth It
I have a Total Gym and wanted a video to help me know what to do and how to set up the machine. Video goes too fast - not worth it. The Training Deck is much better for a beginner.

  • Johns workout is Excellent. The other routine has been ruined as far as we are concerned.
John Carleo's workout is 5 stars Period. This is a well designed workout and is capable of growing with us as we recover and want to get stronger. This workout is excellent for men and women. Rosalie Brown's workout I rate at 5 stars for content but she makes it unbearable to listen to so you can concentrate on the work out. Unfortunately, the second routine is ruined by the constant GREAT!, WONDERFUL, SUPER!, NON-STOP through the entire workout. This like a teenage girls gym class. If she stated the next exercise and set up on the total gym then shut up except for a count it would be very much improved. As it stands now. I use Johns routine and my wife goes to a quiet yoga class. Come on folks we all can count to eight or twelve. ANS ... show more

  • Just what I needed
I decided to write this review because I find reviews so helpful when I am making a purchase. This DVD is great. I can speak to the women's portion...It hits the total body and keeps my heart rate up. You can do it six days a week or combine two days into one for a three days a week workout. You do need the leg attachment, wing bar, and squat stand to participate in all of the women's workouts. I have not worked out for years and I am about 15 lbs overweight. This DVD keeps me on track and moving and you can't really say you do not have time for it. This was the trick for me to get me on a schedule with my total gym. Shipping was quick!
