I like doing projects around the house. But I am in no way a pro. I found this install to be pretty straight forward but challenging. I followed the instructions as best I could. As usual, the instructions leave a lot to be desired. But after watching a few YouTube videos I put the whole thing together without much trouble. I wanted to mount the condenser on the outside wall but was afraid of hearing it rumble. It is so quiet that a wall mount would not have been a problem. The exhaust fan is louder than the compressor. I had an electrician install the disconnect where I needed it. I connected the line set and wiring to the inside unit and pushed them and the drain hose through the 3'' hole I had drilled. My wife stood outside and guided the copper lines while I hung the inside unit on the wall. The instructions said to wrap all the lines together beforehand, but I just did a small section. I figured it would be easier to avoid kinking the lines if they were still separate. I gently pushed and bent the lines toward the path I determined they needed to go. Connected them to the compressor and pulled a vacuum on them. The cheap vacuum pump I ordered from Amazon worked great. I did order adaptors that were advertised to be specifically for a mini split. After removing the pump, releasing the freon and connecting the wiring it was time to test the unit. At first, I was sure there was something wrong. The lights and fan were on, but it didn't seem cold. Before I panicked, I gave it a few minutes, and everything worked perfectly. I am very pleased with this unit. Go slow, read the directions a hundred times and watch YouTube. You can do this. ... show more

Works amazing, was a relative easy install. One star was taken away due to poor installation instructions. It should have a template or measurements on where to drill the hole leading to outside. This caused a bit of a pain when mounting it on the wall as I had to add an extra bend in the line to adjust for the holes location. Another very minor complaint is the convenient unit outside (no stars were taken off for this as it could be fixed if I chose to mount it differently). However, I attached it to the wall outside instead of doing a ground mount. Now when I walk into the room while it's running it sometimes sounds like there is a distant helicopter (not loud at all) as it vibrates the wall. ... show more

I’ve installed 2 of these units in the past few years. They have been excellent without any problems. Can’t beat the price. Be sure to follow the instructions and vacuum the system down before releasing the charge.

I definitely feel David M's pain from his review. Like him I initially got the wiring incorrect and the unit appeared dead. After contacting customer service, sending them pictures, etc. I re-watched the video that focused on the electrical aspects of the install and wouldn't you know it was user error all along. Read That Fine Manual! Once I got that straightened out I powered up the unit and it has been working flawlessly since. Super quiet, inside and out. I run it when I'm working in my uninsulated garage shop with outside temps typically 80's to 90's and humidity 80-95%. It will run continuously while I'm out there since it almost never gets to a final target temp, which IMO is a big ask anyway for almost any AC in an uninsulated space. I actually prefer the fan to run the whole time I'm out there, and the oscillating swingarm to direct the air up and down through the room is great. It does cool the space to a quite comfortable temp, and just as importantly drops the humidity very well. I think the 12000 is perfect for the space I have, maybe go to 18000 if you have a three or four car garage for a shop. My only regret is not buying a unit like this years ago. ... show more

    • Amazon refused to send the outdoor unit part of the order that i paid for

Only the indoor unit was delivered. I didn't realize it came in two separate boxes, as it doesn't state that anywhere in the description. I do not know anything about minisplit units, so I assumed it was fully delivered when a box arrived, and I decided it was best to leave it in the box until the construction was finished in the room where it was going. I was trying to get out ahead of the tariffs, so I wasn't ready to install it. When I did open the box and discovered only the indoor unit and no outdoor unit, I immediately called TOSOT, UPS, and Amazon in an effort to resolve the situation. UPS wouldn't even deal with it, and TOSOT and Amazon sent me back and forth between them trying to push the problem on the other. TOSOT and Amazon both ended up NOT doing anything to help. TOSOT maintains that it is an Amazon problem, as to where Amazon basically told me that they know it was not delivered, but since I was several days outside the return window they were not obligated to help and were not going to.
