    • Absolute whisper quiet operation - superior performance - super low power consumption
Inverter technology along with high efficiency compressor, condensor and evaporator design make this one of the most energy efficient heatpumps in the business. It is so quiet, you can have a whisper conversation right next to it. Absolutely perfect for a bedroom or baby’s room! I installed this 12000 BTU unit in my 450 sq ft workshop outside of Dallas Texas. With temp in the shop at 95°f and outside temp at 104°f, this unit cooled off my shop to a comfortable 80° in under two hours. Mind you, there is a lot of metal equipment in my shop that needed to be cooled down. I would rate the difficulty of installation a 3 out of 5. 5 being “call a professional”. Depending upon your locale, you may need a permit and professional tradespeople to install this. Installation can generally be done by a single person, but there will be times that a helper would be welcome. The heaviest component is the Compressor/condensor (outside unit) which comes in at roughly 75#. You’ll need to buy or build a pad for the compressor. Alternatively you can purchase a hanging bracket/brace to mount the unit to. The inside unit should be mounted close to the ceiling in order to make the best use of space and also to draw the warm and stale air off the ceiling. You will need a dedicated 15amp 220v circuit breaker and outside panel along with a remote disconnect panel to satisfy most city/county code compliance. You may need to either hire an HVAC specialist to vacuum down your evaporator (inside unit) and lines. Or you can rent or purchase a relatively inexpensive set of gauges (R410a) and vacuum pump to ready the system for charging. The compressor is fully charged with R410a Freon. Once the system is vacuumed down and checked for leaks, the gauges and vacuum pump and gauges can be disconnected and the valves then opened to release the charge from the compressor and condensor to the entire system. I definitely feel David M's pain from his review. Like him I initially got the wiring incorrect and the unit appeared dead. After contacting customer service, sending them pictures, etc. I re-watched the video that focused on the electrical aspects of the install and wouldn't you know it was user error all along. Read That Fine Manual! Once I got that straightened out I powered up the unit and it has been working flawlessly since. Super quiet, inside and out. I run it when I'm working in my uninsulated garage shop with outside temps typically 80's to 90's and humidity 80-95%. It will run continuously while I'm out there since it almost never gets to a final target temp, which IMO is a big ask anyway for almost any AC in an uninsulated space. I actually prefer the fan to run the whole time I'm out there, and the oscillating swingarm to direct the air up and down through the room is great. It does cool the space to a quite comfortable temp, and just as importantly drops the humidity very well. I think the 12000 is perfect for the space I have, maybe go to 18000 if you have a three or four car garage for a shop. My only regret is not buying a unit like this years ago. ... show more

    • 18,000 BTU Tosot Mini-Split Working Well. Shipping Did Not Go Well :(
Generally pleased with the performance of our Tosot 18,000 BTU mini-split heat pump that we purchased from the Sain Store back in Jun 2022. One of the primary reasons we went with this particular Tosot unit was its ability to supposedly provide 50% of its rated heating performance (~9000 BTU) at -13f (vs. 5f for other lower-priced units). -13f is not quite the -22f "hyper-heat" performance you find in some higher-priced units, but close. The indoor and outdoor units are reasonably quiet. The remote has decent communication range; however, the top of the remote must be pointed directly at the indoor unit to work---even when in "Ifeel" mode. Both thermostats (indoor unit and Ifeel remote) sometimes overcool/overheat 1-2 deg. There's a connector labeled "Wi-Fi" located inside the electrical compartment of the indoor unit that supposedly supports an optional Tosot/Gree wi-fi module. We ordered/installed this optional Tosot/Gree module. Unfortunately, it would not connect to our wifi system, so we returned it. If you're an active DIY'r, accustomed to doing most of the electrical, plumbing, and general maintenance in your home, installation should be straightforward. For us the most difficult part was running the 50+ ft of 12/2 romex from our basement main breaker panel to the exterior disconnect box. A close 2nd was routing/bending the 16 ft, 1/2" and 1/4" copper lineset so it looked presentable and didn't crimp. We purchased 1/4" and 1/2" copper pipe benders to help out. Also purchased 17mm and 15/16" crowsfeet wrenches (to use with our torque wrench) to properly torque the lineset flare connectors. Vacuumed the lines using a generic vacuum pump and manifold gauge. Turned it on, measured a 22-23f temperature split. All was well. Noticed our 18k unit tended to draw anywhere from 4a to 9a depending on cooling load (have not checked heat)---clearly the inverter technology in this unit is doing its job to make it efficient as possible. FYI, Tosot recommends 12" of clearance between the back/input side of the outdoor unit and any wall, but does not specifically address distance when wall-mounted. To our knowledge, there are no wall-mount units with brackets long enough (>=28 in.) to mount a large 18,000 BTU outdoor unit 12" away from a wall. Some manufacturers do allow less than 12" of clearance if the unit is wall-mounted a minimum distance above the ground. Not sure if this applies to Tosot or not. Also, there is a condensate drain port on both ends of the indoor unit. This is not mentioned in the manual. Repositioning the condensate drain port to either side can be a very handy option for some installations. Reluctantly, we must mention our outdoor unit arrived seriously damaged (indoor unit arrived undamaged in a separate box). The Sain Store promptly shipped a 2nd outdoor unit a few days later. Sadly, the 2nd unit arrived damaged, too (we refused the shipment). The Sain Store was relunctant to send a 3rd unit. Unfortunately, the box that Tosot uses for shipping their 115 lb. 18,000 BTU outdoor unit is woefully lacking for ground shipment by UPS or Fedex. It only has thin, 1 - 2" thick styrofoam on the very bottom and top---with no protection on the sides. This level of protection may suffice for an item that weighs 15 lbs.---but not for one that weighs 115 lbs. We were preparing to return everything when the Sain Store offered us a partial refund if we'd be willing to see if the damaged unit would work. After some negotiating (on the amount), we installed the unit. Surprisingly, it worked. We accepted the partial refund (it was more than fair I might add). Kudos to "Mason" at the Sain Store for providing us responsive tech and customer support pre and post purchase. 19Mar2023 Update: We've been using this unit to cool/heat a 14x20 workshop with 10 ft ceilings and no windows. Garage door has R5 insulation. Very little to no wall insulation. R25 in the ceiling. It's able to cool down this workshop from 95f to 78f in 1-2 hours. It can heat the workshop from 30f to 70f in 2-3 hours. For large temperature deltas like this, recommend using the "Turbo" fan mode. When outside ambient temps drop below 10f, heating efficiency drops noticeably. 4 out of 5 Stars for the Tosot 18,000 BTU mini-split itself. 5 out of 5 Stars for the Sain Store's tech support and overall customer service. 0 out of 5 Stars for the Tosot OEM factory packing (and UPS's rough handling). ... show more

First thing and most important is the level of customer support that you will receive from the people at Sain Store. Then comes the product that I’m impressed with. This is not my first mini it’s my fourth one. We no longer use the central ac&heat the mini’s cost less to run. This unit in my opinion is the best I have used so far. Installation is the same as others but the user manual is understandable and the remote is easy to use as the unit it’s self. Can’t go wrong with this and I definitely recommend it. ... show more
