Toro's highest performing blower vac. Everything the ultra has, plus added time-saving and leaf shredding performance. Includes the patented shreds-all shred ring that works with the metal impeller to reduce up to 97% of mulched debris to less than 1/2 inch. An oscillating nozzle kit is also included. This kit automatically sweeps the air back and forth making a wider blowing path on hardscapes without moving the wrist. Includes: main blower tube - for dry leaves; power insert - for wet, heavy leaves; concentrator - use in corners and crevices; cord storage hook - store the cord by wrapping it around storage hook; bottom-zip vacuum bag (may be used for easy storage of all blower/vac components). • Great leaf vac; worked on large catalpa leaves
Style: Blower Vacuum
I'm pleasantly surprised by how well it handles large leaves; I was expecting to only be able to use this with normal sized leaves, but it sucks our dinner-plate sized catalpa leaves right up and turns them into a fine powder. Vacuum end for scale with some of the catalpa leaves and the resulting powder in a garbage bag. It's a massive reduction in volume of bagged leaves, and I think you could just re-use the powder in your yard, though maybe just before or during precipitation, given how fine it is, otherwise a light breeze is going to coat your fence/house/neighbor/dog in concentrated allergens. I was also happy with the length of the vacuum tube; I'm 6'2" with a 34" inseam, and it seemed like a fine height, though I was not using the shoulder strap on the bag (and emptying it when it got heavy, around half full). The other nice surprise was that while it picked up leaves and even most of the catalpa pods, it did not pick up dried dog poop (from a small dog) hidden under the leaves. I don't really want to turn that into a fine powder, so that was a win. I briefly tried the blower, and it's incredibly powerful, but I don't want to move leaves to a different spot in my yard, I want them in a bag, and the denser the better. However, it was reasonable for getting them out of some crevices around landscape timbers and window wells for later pickup by the vacuum. I do plan to use it to clear gutters with Toro's gutter kit, and the power is quite promising for that use. ... show more

  • The Toro Ultraplus is Better than Expected! Glad I didn't buy the Worx Trivac !
Style: Blower Vacuum
I've only used it once so far, but from what I can see this thing has serious vacuuming power ! I was pleasantly surprised. Its a tad bit heavy, and not for the faint of heart. My arms were tired after 40 minutes of use, but it did such a great job I don't mind the workout. It is also pretty loud so I'd recommend getting a set of hearing protection earmuffs, or earplugs at a minimum. I ***ALMOST*** bought the Worx Trivac and I am glad I did NOT. The Worx Trivac has a vacuum tube that is a bit short so if you are fairly tall you'd be bending down too much, which is why I continued looking. Saw a few reviews on the Toro, and what sold me on the Toro Ultraplus is the longer vacuum tube length and the heavy duty STEEL impeller blade. (Worx has a plastic or similar type impeller) This thing is TOUGH, and shredded my leaves and small yard debris into a fine granulated powder, and with my fairly small yard it picked everything up and the bag still had plenty of room left over ! If you have a really large yard I'd recommend getting something that will attach to your riding mower, but for small yards this Toro is fantastic ! I found the blower to be adequate, but nothing to get excited about, but I since I primarily bought it for the vacuum / mulcher bag I don't mind at all. The blower does get the job done so don't worry too much about that. The Toro UltraPlus Leaf Blower Vacuum ( model 51621) is HIGHLY Recommended ! I saw one reviewer that said this thing was cheaply built, but I Disagree ! It has thick heavy duty plastic tubes and everything seems pretty stout and heavy duty, especially the metal shredding impeller blade ! Its also cheaper than the Worx Trivac, which is another great selling feature. ... show more

  • BUY IT!
Style: Blower Vacuum
This is one fine machine! Amazon literally had it on my front door step less than 24 hours after I purchased it. I read the negative reviews and can only assume they were written by whiney Democrats with nothing better to do than make stuff up and complain. I'm an old school guy who restores cars and uses all sortsa tools and machines in old school ways, i.e., no safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, respirators, helmets, harnesses, plate armor, parachutes, sandbags, etc.... First of all, instructions are only for the simple minded. I don't even know why things come with them, they just take up room and have to be thrown away. Assembly. The assembly for this thing is so easy, it practically puts itself together. So anybody bitching about that probably needs help opening their own beer. They probably don't even drink beer. Noise. Its no damn louder than your lawn mower. The tulips complaining about the noise probably play Adam Lambert in their Nissan Leafs louder than this thing blows leaves. The Bag. Throw it in the garbage with the instructions. You don't even need it. Just keep the dog in the house and send the old lady and the kids to the mall so they don't get beaned by a walnut. Function. It blows and sucks better than Stormy Daniels. With the bag off, you can grind up leaves and small twigs to your hearts content and then just blow the debris outta the way without changing stuff around. Its heavy. Maybe for Adam Lambert its heavy. There are at least a dozen positions you can hold this thing in. Change your grip as needed. Why 4 stars? Because I'm not sure how rugged it is. It works like a champ, but the housing and attachments are all light gauge plastic. Stuffs snaps on and off with plastic clips and like everything else these days, its built to fail. Price and performance make this one a solid investment if you wanna not just blow leaves around, but pulverize em, too. ... show more
