The media could not be loaded. A few years ago I renovated my finished basement and installed a dozen standard 6" recessed (POT) lights. What a pain those were compared to these awesome LED lights. There's just no comparison. I mean, you still have to provide 120V power to each light, but the effort to install the light itself, plus the minimal amount of space these LED models take in the ceiling cavity makes them an easy DIY. I used a $20 recessed light 6" hole saw that I picked up at a local store. These LED panels fit right in. Having them come with the electrical junction box was even better and saved me from having to buy a bunch of boxes and plates from the big box store. I have these controlled by a Lutron Maestro dimmer switch and they perform wonderfully. No flickering or blinking issues and all 6 that came in my pack light up without issue. They have been installed for a few weeks and it's nice not to have to use my work lights while I continue to renovate my living space. In the attached video, my room is 20x22 and I've installed the lights 4 feet from the opposing side walls and a little more than 5-feet between them. Plenty of light to brighten the space. I've got my fingers crossed that they stand the test of time... UPDATE 6/19/25 -- All of the lights I reviewed in my original post from Oct 2018 are still going strong. No issues with them whatsoever. In fact, in 2023 we renovated our kitchen and installed eight of the same lights. Also on the same style Lutron Maestro dimmer and they are great. Two things that a lot of people get wrong when installing: 1) using the included junction box to join connect the light to power AND to provide downstream power. Don't do that - not enough room in the boxes for that many wires - even if you make them fit it's a bad idea; 2) Avoid drilling the hole for the light on a joist - these an other similar lights need room to breathe and shouldn't be backed right up against a joist. ... show more

These lights come with almost all of the parts you need to install. Junction box, wire connectors and screws. It does NOT come with the push in cable connectors which are required by code because the box is metal with sharp edges where the wire comes in. (See picture) I'd suggest taking the box to the blue or orange store to measure and make sure the connectors you buy fit. If you order them online it might not fit right. See my review this and you'll see why this one didn't fit: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00422M1XG/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o06_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 ✔The twist-on wire connectors are adequate but since I wired six of these lights in parallel I used a little bigger size for the 3 12/3 wires on each connection. ⚡ If you wire in series it should be fine. Up to you. ✔Fortunately the first dimmer I tried worked well with these dimmable LEDs. I've read many reviews where some dimmers never seem to work properly. On the box there is a list of recommended dimmers to use by Lutron. We used this one: Lutron MACL-153M-WH Single Pole Dimmer. I actually used two dimmers split between 6 of these lights. Works very well. ✔The light is very thin as you can see in one of the pictures and has a easy plug in to the light. After you make a hole for the light just use the two clips on the back and they will hold it up in the sheetrock. ⚠ **Important** Even though the company calls these lights "6 inch" you will need a 6 3/8 hole saw. This will save you the trouble of using a 6 inch hole saw and then finding out you have to mess around with the sheetrock saw and make the hole just a little bit bigger to make them fit. MEASURE the lights yourself when you get them to make sure.👀 Likes: 1.) Most parts included for easy install. 2.) Rated to install next to insulation because they don't get hot like can lights. 3.) Nice and bright. 4.) Light is very thin and lightweight. (about one half inch) 5.) 4000K which is a nice whitish color for us. 6.) Enough room in box for parallel wiring using 12/3 Not a big deal but worth mentioning: 1.) Doesn't include push in cable connectors which are required by code for metal boxes. 2.) 6 inch light but you will need a 6 3/8 hole saw. 3.) I’m a contractor and I’ve installed well over a hundred conventional retrofit recessed can lights on various projects over the years. In my opinion these are easier to install, put out better light, cost less, and look better. Additionally, when you are retrofitting lighting, especially on the bottom floor of 2 story residences, sometimes when you lay out your lights you open up the ceiling only to find there is plumbing, gas lines, or other utilities in the way making it impossible to install a traditional can. In the past I have had to change entire lighting lay outs and patch numerous holes in ceilings because of this. With these lights I no longer have to worry about that! Their low profile allows them to be installed pretty much anywhere you want. I have saved countless hours on redesigns and hole patching since I began using these. They look so great that some homeowners have had me install additional lighting which has led to more money in my pocket! I’ve used both this brand and other more expspensive brands. I can’t tell the difference in quality. I have yet to get any call backs for a failed unit. I usually don’t write reviews but rely on them when I make a purchase. Kind of hipocritical. With that said I can’t say enough good things about these lights so I figured I should share. Just buy them, you won’t regret it!! ... show more
