We have some decorative white lights (“Christmas” lights) strung up in the house and we love the color of the lights. Not a bright clinical white, but rather warm if that makes sense. Problem is (was) that at night the lights were crazy bright. Like we’d be hanging out and we’d be like, “Okay, should we just unplug the lights?” That’s not very festive. Enter this relatively inexpensive dimmer. Wham. Easy to modulate (the slider switch on the dimmer is easy to operate) and the lights dim accordingly. But what’s cool is that the lights can get very, very dim (and then continue to slide until they are extinguished). And then of course go full blast. So the RANGE of this thing is superb. Plus it comes with with a six-foot cord that runs from where the dimmer slider plugs in to the dimmer switch itself so I don’t have to go across the room and fiddle around behind the chair where the electrical outlet is to do the dimming. The dimmer switch sits out six feet where you can get at it, eliminating the need for any physical exertion whatsoever. If I wanted exertion, I’d go out and run around the block like mad and I don’t really see that happening. ... show more

This product does not work with a standard LED lightbulb. You have to have a regular lightbulb or a dimmable LED lightbulb. This isn’t really a flaw, just something you should be aware of. Once I changed out my lightbulb, this works well and I do enjoy being able to dim my light on my nightstand, so I don’t keep my husband up. It was easy to install. Basically you just plugged the lamp into this cord and use the sliding dimmer to work the bulb. I can’t turn the light off completely using the dimmer, so I still have to reach up and turn the light off manually when I want it off completely. One other thing that really bothers me is that this is a hard plastic dimmer box so it slides around on my nightstand. It seems like functionally, They should’ve put some rubber feet on the back to keep it from sliding around. It is a reasonable option to easily add dimmer capability to a standard lamp. ... show more

I mounted the switch on the side of a nightstand with two strips of 3M double-sided adhesive tape and kept the cord tidy with an adhesive clip used to manage charging cables. Looks great (inconspicuous). There's a nice soft click between off and on and the dimmer works perfectly. Highly Recommend!!

Straight forward instructions, easy to use, dims my led light strip which was my goal. The only thing that I have a problem with is that even in the "off" position my light strip remains very slightly lit, not enough to keep me awake or interfere with sleep, just a very slight glow at each led site.
