  • Good Product
Style: No Neutral & No Ground Required
Sure this was a great product, but would not work in my situation with the wiring system in this old house. The wiring system in the house always has been an issue and drives my contractor crazy. But we tried to get it to work, but would not in our case. I'm sure that the product was in great workable condition, but again, its the house system that is not up to where it should be. ... show more

  • No ground required
Style: No Neutral & No Ground Required
The ground wire in the box was not grounded at the light. Therefore the ground at the box was ineffective and the standard sensor switch did not work. Topgreener support lead me to the model that did not require a ground connect. I bought that one and it works perfectly. Good job Topgreener support.

  • Issues with motion turning on the switch? Know the source of your wires!!
Style: Neutral Wire Required, 4A
I bought this switch because my current motion switch started turning off a few seconds after turning the light on. This one looks very similar to my old one but it's obviously a different model. The wiring colors were the same between the two so I thought the installation would be no problem (connect the switch wires to the same ones as the old switch). However, while the dedicated On/Off positions worked fine, the sensor would not turn the light on (could not even get the LED on the switch to light). I don't know who installed the previous switch but I would venture a guess that it wasn't a qualified electrician. My advise to everyone is "Know the source of each wire coming from the wall REGARDLESS OF WHAT COLOR IT IS!" In my case I had 2 red wires, a white wire, and a green ground wire coming from the wall. The convention is that there should be a black (line), red (load), white (neutral), and a green (ground) wire. However, through some experimentation and measurements I determined that my wires were actually: White: line Red1: load Red2: I'll explain in a minute Green: ground The wiring for the old switch was: Switch wire Red -> Wall White Switch wire Black -> Wall Red2 Switch wire White -> Wall Red1 (load) Switch wire Green -> Ground None of these make any sense except for the ground wire! Here is the situation I have: The light is in a small laundry room between the garage and the house. There is a flip switch on the wall next to the garage door (which I never use and is always in the up (on) position). The sensor switch is next to the door by the house entrance. The "mystery" red2 wire was coming from the flip switch by the garage door. If the flip switch is down (off) the sensor switch will not work in either the Auto or On positions (thus, it was always in the up position). I have no idea how the old switch could have ever worked wired in that way! I solved the problem and got everything working properly by wiring the new switch based on what I knew about where each wall wire was coming from: Switch wire Red -> Wall Red1 (load) AND Wall Red2 (powered by the flip switch) Switch wire Black -> Wall White (line) Switch wire White -> Ground (since there was no "neutral" wire coming from the wall) Switch wire Green -> Ground Now, if for some reason the sensor switch is in the dedicated OFF position I can turn the light on with the flip switch by the garage door (something that wasn't possible with the old switch/wiring). But since the sensor switch will always be in the Auto position it's kind of a moot point but good to know. Bottom line: Know the REAL source of your wires regardless of what color they are!! Hope this helps someone. ... show more
