We used this lock to lock our luggage together while traveling in Europe on the trains. It was easy to wrap/hold around our wrist while waiting to get on the train. As long as we found a bar to lock our luggage around, it worked well, otherwise we just wrapped our luggage handles together.     • Love the design, but weak latch leads to loss

I love the design of this lock, the way it tucks out of the way and it's very easy to use and put back, and looks nice. But i've lost two in the last 6 months because the latch didn't keep the lock fastened and it fell off somewhere along my route. When the first one fell off, I ordered the identical lock, but went ahead and replaced the holder, even though the first one was still in place and seemed functional. But the second lock fell off within a month, and I had never even removed it from the holder to use it in that time. I'm still debating whether to try again or replace it with a different brand or design. UPDATE: Seller reached out and offered a refund - I went ahead and replaced it with the same product. I've mounted this one horizontally on the bike instead of vertical so there will be less pressure on the latch, but this new one seems tighter with less play than the first one. Still love the design. In case you don't find instructions for your new lock, you just set the combination to 0000 (the default code) and open the lock. There's a ridged circular dial inside - just turn it about a quarter turn, change the numbers to something you'll remember, then turn the dial back to it's original setting. That's all that's needed to change the combination. Close the lock and spin the dials and it should be locked. Set it to your new numbers and it should open. ... show more

    • Great locks but a bit cumbersome to work with

I purchased 2 of these bike locks for our young kids so they can have the option of riding their bikes to school. The programmable lock works great and it's a necessity that we can program it to something the kids can easily remember. They were also able to just keep the locks under the handlebars of their small bikes, wrapped around the bar when not in use. So far so good. In actual use, both kids found it a bit difficult to maneuver them around their bikes and the bike stand and getting it to lock and unlock effectively. That's not so much to say the locks aren't well made; they are. It's just it takes getting used to and both kids were frustrated initially, with the lock always want to coil and the "key" not always pulling out or going in as easily as you might expect. Eventually they figure it out, maybe with a little help sometimes. Just wish it was easier for them to do on their own, but that will certainly come with time and practice. ... show more

Wanted something to lock front bike wheel that would work as a good deterrent, most front wheel thieves are opportunists, but lately with all the crazy and brazen looting erupting around the country I am concerned. I have another cheaper 6ft cable lock that I use to keep saddle from getting stolen (again opportunists) that can reach the front wheel, and that is what I've been using, but it is kind of flimsy for a front wheel and can probably be cut with a pair of hand held wire cutters and some effort. I can wrap this Titanker on my top and down tube just over the front wheel and quickly take it on and off. I like that I can set the combo, as I already have too many key locks. So far so good, I already have another Titanker U-lock for the last year and am pleased with it, so I am now a repeat customer and I am considering replacing my current U-lock for a combo instead, I have forgotten to bring my keys or lost them before in my 25 years of suburban/urban cycling. (keep backups in my wallet just in case) 4 feet long, perfect for what I need it for, light weight. I would buy again. I will update review if this fails within a year or two like some of the other reviews I've reads. btw, keep your locks lubricated, and if it is a key lock, make sure to close the key cover when riding... a little bit of road dirt/sand/mud can easily jam a lock. UPDATE: Never occured to me on initial purchase that combo dials are made of plastic, and (from what I've read) can easlily be broken and lock opened. Although I primarily wanted this combo cable lock to deter front wheel theft, I also need to use it sometimes when there is no bike rack available, or it is NOT a cyclist freindly rack and my current U-Lock is difficult to lock securely, so I will use the cable and U-Lock together to deter bike theft, and in those circumstances this will not make me feel safe when used this way. Sorry Titanker I had to downgrade to 3 stars for this reason.. If I'd not had 5 bikes stolen in 25 years, (FIrst theft in 1996, right out of my garage, thieves jumped fence, entered through side door and opened garage door and absconded with bike) so I am a little leery. I will look for a better built product and probaly have to pay more. And for now I will go back to the slower more cumbersome process of using my steel cable looped through front wheel and hooked on Titanker U-Lock - it is a little more time consuming... but worht it for the sense of security it brings. back to the drawing board... ... show more
