  • Cheaper elsewhere
Great welder for the $100 I bought it for on sale at Harbor freight tools. This is a harbor freight tools exclusive brand name get it there when it goes on sale for half the price they are charging here. I bought this because it’s light and portable. I was pleasantly surprised at how well it worked.

  • Shockingly impressed
Were to start... I'll just say first that I'm not an amateur welder. My father was a high pressure and structural certified welder for many years and taught me to weld when I was about 10 years old, and I've been building flatbeds, bumpers and all kinds of other things ever since. I wanted to try a small cheap welder out to see if they were even worth having one around and was excited to get a flux core so as to not need argon. At first I was going to go with a Yes Welder, but after reading a lot of reviews on these Titanium 125's I decided to get one, and the fact that we have a local Harbor Freight Tools were I could get it, and exchange it, if something was wrong also made it more appealing. Anyway, I told myself not to expect to much from a $150 welder. Boy, was I wrong. First thing. Manufacturer says it's only good for up to 1/8 inch thick metal or less with .30 wire, which is what I'm running. They are full of crap, at least on my machine, they are. I set the settings to 1/8 inch but grabbed 2 scrap pieces of 1/4 inch plate. Not only did it weld it easily, but the heat and penitration of the weld far exceeded my expectation. In fact I was totally blown away that a little 110 volt welder could even come close to putting out enough heat to penatrate 1/4 inch plate. But this welder didn't just come close to doing that. It was set on only half its voltage range and was leaving a perfectly hot puddle with a stack of dimes smooth weld at the end. This welder has absolutely no problem getting hot enough. I am certain this 125 would weld 3/8 if you just slow your speed down a bit and build your puddle up a bit. In fact to me it almost welds heavier metal better than thin stuff, but it does pretty good on that to. I do think the chart settings under the spool cover are a little bit hotter than they should be. For example, I am building a light trailer frame out out 14 gauge tubing (about 1/16 inch thick). The chart in the cover says C.5 on the voltage and 4 on the wire speed. I'm running B on the voltage, and 4.5 on wire speed because it was way to hot on C.5. The welds are not beading up like they are to cold, but are penitrating very nicely. The pictures above are that light wall tubing at B and 4.5 settings. Other than needing to wire buff your welds to keep them clean, I absolutely love welding with this little machine. Some people said the stinger and feed cable was pretty light duty compared to more expensive wire machines, but I find it to be a breath of fresh air to weld with a stinger handle that is so light and flexible that you can easily get into tighter, more difficult positions with ease. I can not speak to the longevity of the welder as it's fairly new, and I followed other people's suggestions to buy the 2 year replacement plan, but if this little tird holds up for even a year or two, it's worth it's weight in gold. I would give it 10 stars if I could. Just a little side note though. A lot of reviews said to buy better flux core wire than the Vulcan crap at Harbor Freight. I will definitely second that advice. That stuff looks like junk wire compared to good clean flux core. Since the quality of your wire makes up for half or more of the quality of your weld, buy good stuff. I went on Amazon and baught the 3 pack of 2lb spools of Yes Welders .30 flux core wire. This stuff is very nice clean wire and welds a bead beautifully. I highly recommend buying Yes Welders flux core or something quality for wire. It's only a couple dollars more per spool, but makes all the difference. Oh, and one more FYI for folks. If your used to welding MIG with gas, or your new to welding, remember MIG uses the push technique, but flux core is supposed to be drag technique, just like welding with stick. ... show more
