Top Amazon Reviews

  • Sunpow; A Superior Tire Inflator
Color: Orange Black
I own the TackLife Tire inflator, which only has a 2200 mAh rechargeable battery. It was OK, but it took forever to inflate my 22” SUV tires from 32 PSI to 36 PSI. As far as I was concerned, it was strictly for emergency use and occasionally re-inflating a tire that has lost a few PSI. I searched through Amazon and found the Sunpow inflator to have very good review rating. They also offered a 30% discount coupon. With the discount, I paid less for the Sunpow inflator than I did for the TackLife, (which is no longer available, BTW). The TackLife’s recharging port used a micro-USB connector and it was of a poor construction quality. The port became unusable a few months ago. This meant I could only run the TackLife inflator with the auxiliary cigarette lighter power cable is connected. I was happy to see that the Sunpow’s recharging connector was a much more reliable USB-C port. In addition, the Sunpow inflator has a 7200 mAh battery, which is considerably more than what the TackLife inflator’s 2200 mAh battery. The Sunpow inflator also comes with its own 12v DC cigarette lighter power cable. This allows you to inflate your tire even if the battery power in the Sunpow is low or completely depleted. Like all the portable tire inflators that I’ve read about, the Sunpow inflator cannot be in a recharge mode and operated simultaneously. The Sunpow ad lists everything that it comes with so I won’t go into repeating all that. However, I will say that the size of the Sunpow inflator is 6.5 long x 2.625 wide x 2.5” deep, which would allow it to fit in almost any armrest compartment and certainly in a glovebox. It appeared to be very well-built, had a reasonably good paper manual. It’s easy to operate and has a very intuitive control panel. It also includes an extremely bright LED light, (don’t turn it on while looking at it!). The first thing I did when I unboxed the Sunpow inflator was to read the manual and then I recharged it. When the indicator has a “flashing green light”, it’s almost fully charged. The Sunpow inflator is fully charged when the green light stops flashing. However, a flashing green light indicates a very acceptable battery-powered level and ready to use if you don’t want to wait for the solid-green stage. After I recharge the Sunpow, I took it outside to my SUV. I have a Jeep Grand Cherokee with 22 inch tires and all 4 were at 33 PSI. I wanted to inflate them to 36 PSI. Before connecting the Sunpow to the tire, I first followed the instructions to calibrate the gauge and confirm that the readout displayed ‘zeros’. It’s important to note that the manual instructs to do this before connecting the hose to the inflator. After I did that, I installed the tire inflator hose to the unit which requires pressing down and twisting clockwise until year a “snap” sound. That ensures the hose is attached and locked in to the inflator. The one thing I didn’t like about the Sunpow was the valve-stem connector. The inflator’s valve-stem connector is a screw-on type instead of the quick connect/disconnect valve-stem lock. In addition, you don’t want screw the connector to the valve-stem until after you’ve connected and locked the other end of the fill-hose to the Sunpow inflator first! That’s because the inflator’s hose doesn’t have a check valve to keep the air from rushing out from the tire once it is screwed on to the stem far enough to depress the stem’s valve-core pin. It’s not really a big deal and I found it to be such a little thing that I decided not to reduce my 5-star rating for this inflator. INFLATION RATE COMPARISON: With the TackLife connected to a 12V DC power outlet in the Jeep, and the Sunpow running strictly from its own 7200 mAh battery, I found that the Sunpow brought my tire’s PSI from 33 to 36 in less than 2.5 minutes. In fact, the TackLife took more than 4 times as long to do the same thing! I did expect the Sunpow to out-perform the TackLife inflator because the Sunpow’s battery is almost 4 times stronger. But it takes more than a powerful battery to make that kind of difference. I’m sure the Supow has a much larger compression piston and probably a much faster stroke-cycle per second than the TackLife inflator. I strongly recommend the Sunpow portable, rechargeable, inflator to anyone. The Sunpow inflator is an excellent, ‘must have’, tool to keep in your vehicle, especially for long travel plans such as vacation destinations. I stand behind the 5-Star rating that it deserves. • Quick and Easy to Use
Color: Orange Black
I previously purchased a Sunpow Jump Starter and was very impressed with the convenience of using it. I then decided to purchase a Sunpow Air Compressor as well, as my old air compressor was not battery operated and needed a long cable running to the car cigarette lighter to power it, which was not convenient to use (I had to run the cable through different doors to reach all the tires). I then purchased 2 Sunpow Air Compressors, one for myself and the other for my daughter. I gave one to my daughter when she came for a visit. She then told me that her car had a red low tire pressure light showing. I first gave her an introduction in setting up the air compressor, using a Quick Setup Procedure I had written. Then we went out to her car, and she did the procedure on all 4 of her tires herself. She used the Sunpow Air Compressor and found that all 4 tires were low, at about 26 PSI, and then inflated them to 35 PSI. Afterwards, the red light no longer was showing. It was quick and easy to do, and she was very impressed with it. I then used my Sunpow Air Compressor on both my car and truck, and all the tires checked low, about 29 PSI, so I pumped up the tires to 35 PSI. It was quick and easy to do, much quicker than using my old air compressor (Note: Even good tires lose pressure over time, so I normally add air pressure to my car and truck tires about once every year). About 2 weeks later, my daughter’s friend came to her house to visit her and said that she was having a problem with her car red low tire pressure light keeps coming on. Her friend had pumped up all 4 tires at a gas station and the red light went out. But when her friend got to my daughter’s house about a day later, the red light came on again. My daughter got her Sunpow Air Compressor and took it to her friend’s car, and they checked the air pressure of the tires. One tire was low, but the others were still good. They then pumped up the low tire to the normal tire pressure They decided that the bad tire had a leak and were worried that the tire would become flat before getting it to a tire repair shop, so her friend borrowed the Sunpow Air Compressor for a few days. When her friend returned the air compressor a few days later, she told my daughter that it was so easy and quick to use and decided to get one for herself. Both my daughter and her friend decided that it was quicker and easier to add air to the tires with the Sunpow Air Compressor than taking the car to the gas station and using the air pumps there. After her friend had taken her car to the tire repair shop and had the tire repaired, the tire pressures remained good. The small sized instruction sheet that came with the Sunpow Air Compressor had a lot of detail of its many functions, so it takes time to initially setup the air pressure pump to apply pressure to the car tires. That is why I wrote a Sunpow Air Compressor Quick Setup Procedure, that both my daughter and daughter’s friend had used to quickly pump up the car tire pressures. Recently, my wife wanted some garden soil added to her flower bed, but the wheelbarrow tire was halfway deflated and hard to push. The lettering on the tire advised to inflate the tire to 20 PSI so I used the Sunpow air compressor to inflate it to 20 PSI. The only deviation I made from the Quick Setup Procedure was to set the tire pressure to 20 PSI instead of 35 PSI. It took only a couple of minutes to inflate the tire. The wheelbarrow is now easy to push. I decided to include a copy of this Sunpow Air Compressor Quick Setup Procedure with this review so others can print out a copy of this procedure and keep it with the air compressor in case they needed to pump up a tire with low pressure. This procedure can also be loaded onto a mobile phone. ... show more

  • Everyone needs this!
Color: Orange Black
I purchased this portable tire inflator just before a road trip, and it saved the day. Brand new tires just mounted on the car the day before, one of them developed a slow leak about 3 hours into our drive to a wedding that was 8 hours away. I pulled out this little compressor and was able to precisely bring my tires back into the suggested 42PSI. Drove for another hour and a half and was losing pressure, stopped and brought it right back up. Had to drive a couple more hours until I found a gas station with tire slime to repair the leak on a brand-new tire, but this little gadget saved the day and we arrived at the wedding on time. This product based on the things I have used features the following: Is rechargeable using a USB A to micro USB cable Has a little flashlight Uses a screw on valve connector Has a digital pressure gauge Will automatically inflate to set PSI and stop (or other pressure measurements based on your selection) Remembers the last set inflation PSI Can be used as a portable battery for other USB devices Has some accessories for balls and other inflatables I have since tried a couple of similar and cheaper products sold on Amazon, but this is a superior product to others since the battery lasts longer, and it inflates things quicker, so even if others may be a few dollars less (this one does often have savings if you watch it), this is a better product while comparing to items up to about $60. As a quick note, I have used this on cars, and not trucks so please refer to other reviews if you are a truck owner since truck tires may require additional compressor load over a car tire. My car tires however are suggested 42 PSI over a max of 50. ... show more
