This kit is just perfect to stimulate thinking and engineering in children approx. aged 7 to 12. The wooden parts and electronic equipment are of high quality. We liked the fact, that it contains only the essentials and is not overburdened with small unnecessary parts that distract from the possibilities. This makes literally for hours of exploring, building and rebuilding. The kit is designed with the real capabilities of the age group in mind, so children are able to built and explore really independently and without the help of adults. Last, the creations, although "basic electric machines" are pleasantly aesthetic to look at due to the shapes and the material of the wooden parts and reduced colour palette. The support of the supplier is extraordinary fast and generous, we asked for a couple of replacement rubber bands during the holidays and had twenty of them posted to the UK in under a week together with a few bits they added for free! We got this for our son’s birthday and he loves it. He’s seven so we have given him some oversight and assistance but he’s able to do much of it by himself. Great gift for inspiring creativity and engaging STEM skills.

First off, this is my first Amazon review, despite being an avid Amazon customer and having my inbox flooded with requests for feedback. The customer service exceeded my expectations, which is a breath of fresh air in this day and age. The safety glasses arrived broken, and not only did they replace the glasses, they sent TWO pairs of glasses AND an extra set of wooden parts AND some stickers. Perhaps more than that, my daughter loves this tinkering box. She has started to get into robotics and I thought this would be a good place to start. She needed a little bit of assistance with the rubber bands as I don't think she has developed enough fine motor strength in her hands yet, but other than that she was able to follow the directions easily. She has not tried any of the extra challenges yet, but I hope she will try some independent tinkering too.

Got this for my 82 year old grandpa for Christmas and it was a hit! He loves tinkering and building things but unfortunately isn't able to take on bigger projects by himself anymore. This little set has just enough pieces to keep him entertained and keep his hands busy.

We got this for our son's 7th bday. It is a huge hit! It comes with challenge cards, we decided to take on the egg beater challenge. Took us about two hours to build and test it. The next morning our son insisted to using it to make scrambled eggs for everyone!! Our set came with only one axle (supposed to be two). I emailed the seller and Matt (the CEO) emailed back within 24 hours. He shipped us a pair of axles and even threw in another box of parts, LED lights, and (most importantly) stickers!! :) Thank you Matt for the awesome customer support! We have been having lost of fun with this set ... I would definitely recommend this.

We got this for my son for his six birthday. I knew he was on the young side for it, but he's so hungry to work with motors and batteries that we went for it anyway. He needed a little help, naturally, and we enjoyed working with it with him. I'm not particularly science / engineering minded, but the instructions were clear enough that I was easily able to guide him. I like the fact that I can learn alongside him with this toy! I should also mention, this was the first motorized / battery operated toy that has entered our house. As a wood toy leaning family, we really appreciated that it's mostly wood parts, and that it's not overly realistic - it really gives room for the imagination. For natural learning parents, this is definitely the most compatible kit I found for starting to explore electronics with your child. A totally great, worthwhile investment for our family, and I'm so looking forward to exploring all the projects it contains. Thank you, Tinkering labs!

I returned this kit unopened, because it is rated from 8 yrs old. My grandson is 12 and already doing more advanced things. I wanted something to challenge his aptitude, and this seemed more like a review of some basics that he would not find progress with.
