Description

Our Main Street Collection is designed with simple elegance in mind and crafted with the quality you expect from Timex. Timex Group B.V. is one of the best-known American watch companies. Timex's U.S. headquarters are located in Middlebury Connecticut and it has substantial operations in China, the Philippines and India and full scale sales companies in Canada, the UK, France and Mexico. The company began in 1854 as Waterbury Clock in Connecticut's Naugatuck Valley, known during the nineteenth century as the "Switzerland of America." Sister company Waterbury Watch manufactured the first inexpensive mechanical pocket watch in 1880. During World War I, Waterbury began making wristwatches, which had only just become popular, and in 1933 it made history by creating the first Mickey Mouse clock under license from Walt Disney, with Mickey's hands pointing the time.During World War II, Waterbury renamed itself U.S. Time Company. In 1950 the company introduced a wristwatch called the Timex. Over the next three decades, Timex was sold through a series of advertisements which emphasized its durability by putting the watch through "torture tests," such as falling over the Grand Coulee Dam or being strapped to the propeller of an outboard motor, with the slogan "It takes a licking and keeps on ticking." With the help of former Olympic broadcaster, spokesman John Cameron Swayze, sales took off. The company later became Timex Corporation, then Timex Group and, to date, has sold over one billion watches. The company has remained very competitive and the Timex brand continues its dominance through present day. Its primary market remains the United States and Canada, although the Timex brand is sold worldwide due to its ability to capitalize on its strong brand image and reputation for quality. One of the most successful and important features available on many Timex watches is the Indiglo backlight system. Indiglo is a brand name of Indiglo Corporation, solely owned by Timex for licensing purposes. Timex electroluminescent lamps, branded Indiglo, were introduced in 1992 in the Ironman watch line. They were an immediate success. The Indiglo lamp uniformly lights the surface of the Timex’s watch dials in a manner that makes the dial read very easily in many different light settings. In some newer watches the Indiglo backlight only lights up the numbers, rather than the entire LCD display, which is achieved by means of a specialized film that inverts the LCD transmissivity.Today, Timex Group products are manufactured in the Far East and in Switzerland often based on technology that continues to be developed in the United States and in Germany. With a large and varied line of watches, Timex has the style for everyone. From the locker room to the board room, there is a great Timex style time-piece for you. P.when('A').execute(function(A) { A.on('a:expander:toggle_description:toggle:collapse', function(data) { window.scroll(0, data.expander.$expander[0].offsetTop-100); }); }); It doesn't take much to add a touch of effortless sophistication to just about any outfit. A timeless dial with just the right amount of detail and a slender band should do the trick. See more

  • Love this watch!
I love this watch. The mesh band is easily adjustable and looks awesome. Easy to read, good quality and style.

  • Pretty watch!
I bought this watch for my wife. She really likes it. With it being silver in color, it will go with many of her outfits. Well worth it.

  • Pretty! May cause rash....
All of the reviews saying the clasp is odd/fails are correct. It can be difficult to get on and off *correctly* and I have had it fall of twice when I am sure it was on correctly. However, the material and design are lovely and mine hasn't scratched yet. I've worn mine two weeks. My job involves a lot of walking around, so I may be swinging my arms around more than most people do. I do love this watch other than having to worry about the clasp. I have a pretty small wrist and this doesn't look too large on it. I'm not actually sure how to adjust the strap- my fiancé did it for me and I haven't had to adjust it on my own since. This watch may be hard to adjust originally- I am not sure. This is great for the price when I consider the other watches I've spent similar amounts on. It's professional and clean looking- good for casual or professional outfits. Update!! The end piece of the strap caused a rash but the rest of the watch didn't cause a rash. What? Lowered from 4 to 3 stars. It still is cute.... jut can't wear it... yes, I do normally wear a watch lower on my arm and moved it up more for the picture. ... show more

  • Love this watch
Very pretty watch and light weight. The timex does compare to the more expensive watch that looks similar. Glad I purchased the Timex 😊.

  • Durable
Beautful for dressup.

  • Nice watch, dead battery.
Watch face has a subtle herringbone pattern that is unique and interesting. Moving the adjustable fastener is easy, but there's no way to remove excess material from the band, so people with small wrists will end up with a few inches of extra band wrapped around the wrist. Unfortunately, this watch arrived with a nearly-dead battery, started losing time, and stopped completely ~5 weeks after purchase (just AFTER the return window closed, of course). I replaced the battery and it runs fine now, but if you purchase this watch be prepared to spend another $15 for a new battery within a month. UPDATE: Six months later and the watch is dead again. ... show more

  • Exceeds expectations; great price.
I gave up wearing Timex watches years ago because their quality had deteriorated so badly. Then Timex went bankrupt, and another company purchased the Trademark. In the meantime, I switched to Skagen watches and used them for many years. My most recent Skagen watch failed shortly before a vacation, and I bought this watch to tide me over, figuring I would buy a better watch haver the vacation. The Timex turned out to be a better buy than a similar-looking Skagen purchased at the same time. It has been keeping accurate time for over a month. I have big wrists, and am pleased that it has a longer wrist band than the Skagens with similar stainless steel bands bought in receint years, and is therefore more comfortable. The Skagen I purchased at the same time is slightly easier to read than the similarly-sized Timex, but not enough to be worth the extra $60 in price. ... show more

  • Just like the one I had for 20 years
This watch is exactly what I was looking for. I had a watch for over 20 years that finally stopped working. I didn't think I would ever find another one that i liked as much, but this one is perfect!
