It worked better than my olde one, and it mashes the crimped on sleeve, very well. It won't work on crimp sleeves as large as my olde one though, so I'm going to have to search for it again. I also think it will work even better if I mount it to some kind of sacrificial board or log/stump.

    • Use a big hammer and hit it several times. It can take it.
I admit I was skeptical, but this device absolutely works. It is heavy and sturdy. The connector fit right in the grove and, bang bang bang--done. I could not pull the connection apart as hard as I tried. Smaller than the huge crimping tools and fits in my toolbox easily. 5 stars for sure.

    • This works exactly as advertises.
works great. The spring loaded striker holds the connector in place while getting ready to hit it with a hammer. One thing though. I discovered that hitting it twice after moving connector very slightly helps with the holding power of the connection; more so than just one hit.

    • I needed an excuse to buy a 3lb drilling hammer....
(Well...kind of..) I picked up this crimper for a solar system I'm putting together in my camper van, but didn't want to buy a hydraulic crimper that I may not use again. This little device gave me good tight crimps on copper lugs from 8AWG to 1/0 consistently. It's smaller than a hydraulic crimper and weighs less, making it easy to store with my van camper tools. It is so simple, I imagine it will last a long time, if it doesn't... well .. I'ii still have my HF drilling hammer. ... show more
