UPDATE as of August 2025: Mom has been super happy with her watch over the last 9 months! It still looks nice, has withstood hand washing, no staining, hasn't turned color on her wrist and still works perfectly. It also hasn't needed a new battery yet! :) ORIGINAL: I bought this for my mom after she purchased a few really inexpensive watches that didn't perform well or last. I got her the 23mm, stainless steel, solid silver color, stretch band version. Mom is 88 and while, ideally, she would have a dainty, delicate little thing for her little bird bones, I got her the bigger face with easy-to-read numbers. She does find this one easy to read and the indiglo light really helps her out in the dark, which is something none of her previous watches had. I have no data to report on how well it stands up to scratches or how long the battery lasts since I just gave it to her, but it's a Timex and we're going off of the good reputation of the name. The battery came already installed and was easily activated by the removal of a little plastic piece that had held it in an inactive state so it didn't run down. She was easily able to set the time by herself and required no further instructions, as anything mechanical or electronic so often does for her these days. There was a lot of discussion about the wrist band size in the product reviews and I was quite concerned about how it would fit, based on the wildly varying reports of different variations of similar watches, whose reviews were all lumped together. She has a small, delicate, wrist and I wound up taking it to a kiosk at the mall and having 3 links removed, which cost $20. It seemed to be a difficult task, even for a supposedly experienced watch worker with the correct tools, so I'm glad I didn't try it myself. I got a nice sale price on the watch of $29.99 (from the regular listed price of $63, in December, 2024), and think it was well worth both the sale and full price, even adding in the cost of the band adjustment. Mom had wasted much more than that by purchasing several very inexpensive watches, trying to save a few dollars. Batteries ran down quickly, bands broke, she couldn't read the tiny numbers, they turned color and left stains on her wrist, didn't stand up to the water from hand washing, etc. Not as many people wear watches anymore, since most of us have cell phones in our hands most of the time. But if you have an elderly loved one who really misses having an analog watch (even though they have an emergency call device with a digital time readout on the other wrist, lol), just go ahead and pay more than $12 for this watch. The others don't last, aren't reliable, need difficult-to-replace batteries very fast, etc., and the cost of multiple cheap watches mounts quickly to more than you'd pay for a Timex. I love this watch and have had one for several years, but since this was at a price I could not resist, I bought another one for when my current one stops working. I like watches with actual numbers that I can easily read (not that I'm stupid, I just don't like to have to look at it a few times if it has Roman Numerals or just dashes or dots). Plus it lights up (I wear mine even to bed so if I wake up, I can easily tell what time it is as I don't keep a clock in my bedroom since I retired, it is comfortable enough for that). I like that it has a stretch band so I don't have to fumble with the watchband. I can no longer find this watch where I used to buy it, sometimes it online, but this price was unbeatable so I bought one because eventually the watchband, being stretchy, will wear out and it's sometimes cheaper to just buy a whole new watch rather than a band and have that put on and adjusted and the glass will eventually get some scratches. Even though I usually have to have some links taken out at a jewelry store as I have a small wrist, I love this kind of watch. And if it breaks, it's not like I'm out of a lot of money. I do have to have the battery changed about once a year, but that's no big deal. It's a Timex and it works like a Timex, that's all I want. ... show more

Just received this watch today from Amazon and let me say that I am very picky about watches and bought this watch for 2 reasons: Bought this because TIMEX watch is my favorite brand, and it lasts and lasts! I am going from past experiences both windup Timex watches and also Quartz Timex watches. I still have a 1985 Quartz that is still going, no light in this one this is why I bought this watch and also because it is an EASY READER! I would have given this watch 5 stars but did not because of the watchband problem, please read on in the CONS and you will see why...Also, did not want to see someone else go through the time and expense that I did, it cost me $5 to have the watchband cut and adjusted and even so it is still not a comfortable watchband due to width, so I ended up buying a LEATHER watchband at $9 so it cost me more money and trouble due to the wide width of this watchband that pinches! (I have always found that leather watchbands are easier to adjust, look smart and are so much more comfortable). PROS: 1) Easy reader feature--this watch is very easy to read yet it is small enough to be feminine as I am girly girly! 2) Great simple design, just right for any occasion from everyday to dressy watch! 3) Best of all, the light as I need to see the time at night and in dimly lit areas. 4) Second hand, great feature 5) Water-resistant, however, I will take it off when I shower just to be on the safe side after reading the other reviews. CONS: 1) I could only find ONE CON. This watch will only accept a leather band (if you choose to replace the band). I went to a jeweler and had him try to place a very nice metal band that should have fit this watch, it did not because it has to be rounded at the top to fix. *Note that the older Timex watches, you could replace the band with a metal band or a leather band. ****However, I did have the same jeweler take out some lengths out of the band that came with the watch and it fits OK, however because of the WIDTH of the band it pinches and is NOT COMFORTABLE. So at the same time, I bought a leather replacement band and probably have this one put on this watch as I find a leather band is much more comfortable and easy to adjust because I have such small wrists! Would I buy this watch again? Yes for 2 reasons: THE LIGHT feature and the EASY READER FEATURE, for those reasons, and I will enjoy this watch with my new BLACK LEATHER WATCHBAND! ... show more

This is my favorite watch. I have been wearing this watch for about 17 years. When I wear one watch out, I buy another one exactly like it. I got my first one at Walmart, and I've gotten a couple here on Amazon. Each watch has lasted about 5 to 7 years, and I am very hard on watches. I am working out a lot now, and sweating a significant amount at work-outs. So I wash off my watch with soap and water every day, and I was worried that this waterproof watch might somehow stop working with all this wear and tear. So I needed to buy another one for my backup. I could not find this watch anywhere but here on Amazon. No one seems to be selling it anymore. The watch is pretty, the gold is a lovely color, and it's very easy to read. The blueish light (Indiglo) comes on when you push in the setting knob, so it's easy to read the watch in dark environments. I have smaller wrists, so all the other watch bands I've tried slide down to my hand. This watch band stays put and is comfortable. For those of you with larger wrists, you might get a different watch band that fits you better, and use it with this watch. This watch band fits me perfectly, and the watch itself keeps perfect time, is easy to read, is feminine and pretty, and can take a beating. I tried one of those fitness watches, but it was expensive, ugly, black, and not comfortable. I love this Timex watch. ... show more

Watch matched as described and pictured. How when we opened the envelope it was shipped in the watch box looked terrible. Its was severely crushed and open. Fortunately, the watch was not damaged. Overall great watch at a fair price.
