  • Good work boots for a wide foot
Size: 10 Wide Color: Rust
I have been wearing these boots five days a week for almost two months. When I bought them, I also conditioned the leather and then gave them two good coats of wax about two weeks apart, and I replaced the insoles with a slightly better set. These boots have been really good. So far, they’re holding up well. They’re comfortable and my feet rarely hurt after a day of work. I’m pretty hard on boots normally, I’m walking on concrete for 8 hours a day with 10,000-15,000 steps each work day. They have broken in, but are wearing well. Water beads up and runs off of them when they get wet, thanks to keeping them waxed. I bought a pair of Wide boots as I have very, very wide feet and these fit me well. They are good looking boots, they are large but not clunky. They feel nice and look good on the foot. I would definitely hit them with some oil or conditioner to get rid of that bright new boot look, but I have zero actual complaints about these Timberlands. I had intended for these to be placeholders until I purchased some higher end boots, but I may end up buying a second pair of these instead to alternate wearing. They’re good boots at a good value, and wide sizes are actually wide. ... show more

  • These are a really good choice for a high quality 6" mock toe, and only $100! These are a really good choice for a high quality 6" mock toe, and only $100!
After days of reading reviews, watching video comparisons, and generally taking in more info than needed I bought these Timberland Pro boots and they are great. Soft but fairly thick leather that holds it shape and is not stiff at all. Timberland knows boots and has the buying power so this high quality leather is just the start of the list stating the reasons to select this boot. The seams are stitched well and the soft wedge sole material has a hard rubber layer at the bottom which will add life to the goodyear welted sole. There is a nice synthetic liner up in the toe box only and there is a hardened heel cup Leaving the remaining leather upper unlined and here again the leather quality and flexibility are both evident and appreciated for comfort right out of the box. This means you can lace them up all the way up tightly, for good ankle support, and even after walking up and down Seattle's many hills these boots get me to and from work using the bus in comfort. While Redwings are nearly perfect they could use equally thick yet more supple leather and they choose not to which at their price point take too long to soften up so goodbye Redwing and if you want an example of thick buttery leather check out the Keen Cincinnati Wellingtons I discuss at the end of this review and it made me wonder why if not for profit would so many boots use thick leather that is called "quality" yet is hard and then takes weeks to break in. Not these. I guess that's it as my first review disappeared before I could post it and doing this over sucked however getting good boots out so many similar brands and styles has gotten tough so cut through the clutter and go for the company who has been making boots for 50 years and now offers their Pro line with offerings with welt construction and very high quality materials at the $100 price point. These are superb boots that happen to cost only $100. This isn't a compromise for savings these boots are exactly what I want. My other workboots are the Timberland classic round toe that are also great for $150. My about town boots are both Keens. The Cincinnati welt construction Wellington is simply luxurious feeling, thick, supple, and attention to detail throughout and on sale now for under $100! For Seattle's wet weather a really waterproof boot is essential and while the San Jose 6" mock toe has a cement construction sole this works perfectly for around town as it makes the boot lighter and more flexible than typical welted boots. The San Jose costs about the same as the Timberland classic round toes($150) so there are my wet and dry boot recommendations for work and around town. Timberlands for my work boots and Keens for around town with each pair currently available on Amazon you should buy all four and not need to think about boots again for years. • Pro, hard no. Weekend warrior at best. Pro, hard no. Weekend warrior at best.
Size: 10.5 Color: Rust V1
Graduated from custom cabinet maker to project manager and was looking for a quality, durable boot that was lighter than my steel toes but would still hold up to job site conditions. This boot was comfortable right out of the box. The leather was genuine and had a great feel and all stitching seemed like it was going to hold up to normal wear and tear. After a good application of conditioner, I was off and running. Overall I was happy with my purchase...for about a week. The leather seems to lose its dye with the smallest amount of moisture, to the point where numerous pairs of my thick wool socks are now permentanly stained an orangey-brown, not to mention my feet until a hard scrub. The insoles also immediately started to fall apart with the fabric top lining coming off within the first few days and once it became a nuisance had to be removed leading to the actual rubber/sponge insole to start to degrade. Although the above issues are problems that you should not have within the first week of any just sub $100 boots, the real issue was just noticed today, a little over 2 months after receiving the boots in the beginning of October. As seen in the pictures, the layers of the sole are starting to delaminate and are essentially ruined. I have never even had cheap-o boots fail this quickly and that was with working hard and beating them up. I am between a desk and job site walk-throughs and nothing that could even be considered strenuous on the boot. Anyone who has had a boot do this knows that it just gets exponentially worse day by day with hardly any cause leading to wet feet and debris constantly getting stuck in the ever growing opening. I couldn't be more disappointed with a boot from a supposedly reputable manufacturer that cost what it did. Since I don't feel like having wet feet, these are now shelved until summer and even then just for home use. Comfortable off the get but I guess there's something to be said for a boot that has to be broken in the old fashioned way. Maybe it was a defective pair judging by some other reviewers 5 star ratings but at just under $100, not a risk I am willing to make with this or any other Timberland "Pro" seriers. ... show more

  • Carpenter Work Boot Carpenter Work Boot
Size: 8 Color: Rust
These are GREAT work boots for a carpenter or any construction worker. Also, I would say they run just a little bit big. I originally ordered a size 8 D because I tried them on at Boot Barn and they fit perfect. But the size 8 from Amazon was too big so I exchanged them for a mens size 7.5 D and they fit perfect; therefore, you may want to size down just 1/2 size. These Timberland Pro (sometimes called Barstow) are the best construction boot I've ever worn. My last pair lasted 5 years. These I believe are real "Timberland" brand other than the shoe laces and lacking the two top lace hooks, they are almost exactly like the ones in Boot Barn. I swapped out the laces from my old pair and the eyelets work just as good as the hooks. No complaints for the money. They cost $147 plus tax at Boot Barn. I am very happy with my purchase, I just hope they are the same soles that lasted 5 years--the soles look exactly like my old boots so hopefully they are as durable too! ... show more
