Replace is a strong word. I'm buying a second pair because I need to get these resoled. I've been wearing this pair 5-7 days per week for anywhere between 9 and 12 hours per day for more than 4 years. I estimate 10,000 hours of wear. I'm an industrial electrician. They get worn in a variety of environments. These have spent more than 2 of those 4 years outside in the dirt and mud. Sometimes on concrete and asphalt. They've been covered in mud, glue, diesel fuel, and whatever else may show up on a construction site. I've been careful not to submerge them in concrete, but they have been lightly exposed here and there. I have burned the soles a couple of times by accidentally stepping on freshly welded metal. I'm not retiring this pair either, just their soles. I'm getting a second pair so that I can continue to wear my favorite boots while these are out of commission, then I plan to rotate between the two pairs. The only maintenance I've done is cleaning and oiling every 18 months or so. I think I've only done it twice. The first time was when I opened the box and the next time was more than a year after that. I can't recommend these boots enough, especially when I see my peers needing to buy new boots every 6 months.

Thorogoods are a great boot. I find them to be a better product than Redwings. Though they are priced equally (+-) I will choose these boots over any other brands. Comfortable, well made, good leather quality.

Thorp good boots are great; high quality made in America boots. They have a tendency to run significantly more narrow that other work boots; I ordered these in a wide and they fit well (I do not typically wear a wide shoe). Also, I always hear to size down half a size in work boots; I ordered true to size and in a wide, they fit comfortably. Probably could go a bit more snug, but a size down was too small, and in the winter with thicker socks I’ll be glad to have the extra space.

The fit is perfect, there’s no “ breaking in” period. Comfortable from the start. PRICEY though… is it worth it with the flat soles that’ll wear down in a few months…? Idk but I’ll let you know.
