I have another pair of these boots, in brown, that are 6 years old. When I saw this style comes in black, I had to have them. American made, quality leather, and good to size. I'm a service tech so I'm on my feet most of the time and in clean work environments most of the time. Proper maintenance helps with life span of these boots. I will always recommend this brand when I'm asked about work boots. I don't need an insulated boot which is a bonus and electrical hazard protection is always appreciated working around high voltage. ... show more

Not as nice materials as red wing but more comfortable out of the box and a little cheaper. I needed steel toes for work ASAP and was able to get these next day and work a full day in them right away no problem. The steel toe pinches a little on one foot but not bad enough to make it a problem, just an issue with safety toes as they can’t break in to your foot. They’re well made and will only get more comfortable with time. They look good too, I ripped that dumb USA tag off the toe (seriously, why on the toe? I held off on these because I hate branding. At least on the black ones the LOGO STAMPED INTO THE LEATHER is hidden and not highlighted. I just hate logos not everyone agrees) ... show more

Comfortable, American made boots. I wish the steel toe came in 6” but nothing wrong with the 8”. Give it a week to break in.

Coming from redwing and Justin boots, I must say I absolutely love how comfortable these boots are. They are a little stiff in the beginning perfect once they are broken in.

I've always heard nothing but good about Thorougood so figured I'd try them out. Was very happy when I got them... until I put them on. These were by far the most excruciatingly painful pair of anything I've ever put on my feet!!! I had to wrap my feet with layers of padding and tape it in place for 3 weeks before they were finally broke in, during an outage working 7-12's. Then the seams started coming apart in less than 6 months. I'm a boilermaker and have never had a pair of boots not last at least a year, when I spend nearly twice as much as a lot of other brands that's upsetting. Hopefully Thorougood will be good for this, so far the reseller has been great to deal with. ... show more

    • Comfortable out of the box and good boots

I waited to write a review on my pair to see how the boots would feel and hold up after some wear and tear, I had bought them about 4 months ago as of writing this review. My work isn't the most physically demanding nor am I working out in the elements but I primarily service and work on various drink machines so I tend to deal with alot of syrup and water. The boots are not water proof but if they are properly conditioned the should not get sopping wet in a light rain or wet enviroment. The tongue of the boot is tumbled to increase comfort and reduce break in which took me about a week where was no discomfort. The leather is full grain though something i noted was the first day of use where the leather is puckered for the moc toe stitch tends to shave off when crouching. This also occurred to one of the tips of my boot which was a bit disappointing to see but I chalked it up to the boots not being conditioned enough. Overall for my line of work the boots are comfortable enough out of the box that I could wear it all day without having to switch to another pair of boots and if you are working on hard flooring like concrete the wedge sole and the insole give you enough cushioning that you won't have an issue with walking on hard ground all day. I haven't had any issues with walking on wet tiles or concrete. The safety toe did not give me any issues and there is more then enough space between the top of the steel toe and my feet to prevent toe rub. The most uncomfortable place to break in for me was the heel but that went away within the week of first wear. I wear a 10D or 10 reg in all my boots and the same in my thorogoods. To be specific the circumference of the ball of my foot is 10" and the length from the back of my heel to the longest toe is 11". My advice is to make sure that once you try your boots on and they fit well condition them to make the break in even easier and the protect the leather since you don't know how long they have sat in a warehouse. I would also suggest getting a better pair of laces with your boots because mine were flimsy and I immediately changed them out with some paracord. ... show more
