As a seasoned camper, I found this relatively easy enough to assemble alone; two makes it even quicker. Nice quality, appropriately priced. My review is based on initial unboxing without using it in the field yet. I am only rating EXPECTED durability based on past tents I've used and this unit's materials. DEFINITELY do a practice setup, and at that time, get a few bottles of seam sealant to treat the outsides of the threads on the seams. Although nicely sewn, and sealed on the inside, the outsides of the seams can use protection too.... Get a few bottles -- it's a big tent. Nice features: -- I like the entry port for running power into the tent, allowing all zippers to remain closed. -- It appears there is a (heat resistant?) mesh buffer layer sewn onto the exterior of the portal where contact with still-hot exhaust pipes is possible. -- Projection screen is a nice additional thought, it can be mounted on passenger side wall, or on the rear wall. -- I like the feature of having locking pins attached to the tent corners for fastening the poles. No grommets to try to force a pin on a pole to match and stay in. The power entry port and heat resistant mesh are related: DO NOT RUN YOUR VEHICLE WHILE USING ANY TENT! [Unless you've written me into your will, and you've tattooed "D.N.R." on your chest....]) Get a dedicated power bank for your excursion. We set this tent up i about 30 minutes our first time in. It is easy to assemble once we figured out which poles were which. The tent itself is large enough for a family, and I found myself asking why I need this big a tent for just the two of us. I'm thinking that a smaller option is likely going to be our go-to for car-camping. This tent is sturdy once assembles, it packs well and will go back into its bag once it is broken down and rolled up. Remember to put the hardware into the bag separately form the tent. Don't try to roll the hardware into the tent or it will be difficult to get it into the bag. I tried and failed several times. The rain-fly is a convenience that ant tent should have and I'm sure it would come in handy if there were rain. There was none on our only outing with this tent. The height was great, and would accommodate much taller people. the tent had a bit of sway to it until it was anchored in. It felt much better once anchored, but I still wonder how it would fare in strong winds, as there was some sway in the light breeze during our trip. All in all this is a good option for a family and too much for just the two of us. ... show more

I bought this awhile ago for beach car camping on Portsmouth Island (Outer Banks of North Carolina). This past week was my first chance to put it to the test. First off I violated the first rule of camping. I did not do a practice run with setting it up. My wife and I figured it out but the directions were sketchy. The basic set up was fairly straight forward but there are a plethora of straps and buckles with no clear instructions about how to use them. But, as I said, we figured it out. We used specialty sand stakes to anchor the four corners and we set up a large canopy over the front access door for shade. On our third night we got serious wind and rain. The the tornado warning went off about 9:00 PM. There was really nothing to be done except for my wife and I to hunker down with our two dogs in the back of the car. After the tornado warning was lifted, we had a long night of heavy rain and strong winds and the tent stood up to it really well. It was very stable for such a large and tall tent and there was almost no leakage in the driving rain. There was a hint of water that got under the rain fly but nothing that was a problem. I would highly recommend this tent. It is tall and roomy and docks very securely to the hatchback of our Subaru Outback. Paired with a collapsible awning it makes a great car camping system. ... show more

UPDATE: Used this weekend for the first time and set up was much easier and take down was a cake. HOWEVER, my suspicion of the wind wreaking havoc was correct. This Tent is a sail in the wind, needs more tie downs. All in all, Not a perfect tent. But the best tent I have found so far that meets my criteria. Only done a dry set up in the driveway so cannot yet speak to the durability but it all looks well done so fingers crossed. For assembly and disassembly, I did this solo and it was not easy. Due to it's height, it is not stable until you have all 4 corners assembled. To help I rested one side on the tailgate first which made life a lot easier, otherwise it would have been a pain. Disassembly was easier knowing my trick, but without a tailgate could be pretty tedious. Seems like a lot of stress goes on the top rods and one bad wind while going up or coming down and I'd be worried a rod could snap. The car hookup, very easy. Once built, the tent is very spacious and TALL, I'm 6'4" and man was it nice. My biggest point of feedback would be make bigger windows. They seem unnecessarily small. Same with the vehicle door, could be wider. Outside of that it's a Very good tent. Just be very wary of the wind. This is a skyscraper of a tent and acts like a sail for the wind. I would be very uneasy in a high wind situation. ... show more

Tent was pretty easy to setup. Doesn't really fit a pickup and we had to improvise. They really need better descriptions. Worked well otherwise and was steady in the wind.
