  • Invite Mason Bees to your neighborhood with this house. Mason bees rarely, if ever, sting.
The TIHOOD Mason Bee House is a great way to help these pollinators population. This bee hotel is a tear shaped habitat that provides a safe space for mason bees to nest. It mimics the usual nesting spots, in crevices under tree bark or woodpecker holds. The bamboo bee house size is about 8 ¼”x4 ¾”x 5 ½” and has a piece of twine at top for hanging. Inside the bee house are bamboo tubes of different sizes all grouped together for the Mason bees to pick one according to their body size. Then to lay her eggs. The outer wall of the pollinating palace feels thin and delicate but the heavier duty tubes should provide support. It is best to hang these against a wall and is recommended to place the house facing south/southeast and out of the wind. Morning sun is good for them to get moving for the day. Don’t put it where the hot sun will be blazing down on it. The female puts the eggs in the tubes, separating them with pollen and nectar, puts a mud plug on the end of the tube and the bees will hatch in the springtime. Having the mason bee tubes makes it easy for these important pollinators to thrive and contribute to a healthier ecosystem. It is well-designed, and looks cool in your yard or garden. I would encourage you to support pollinating bees and enhance your garden's biodiversity with this Mason Bee House, good for both beginners and experienced gardeners alike. Why I recommend this product, in addition to: it’s cute and complements the garden area. It is useful. It truly serves an important purpose; pollination. Mason Bees are awesome pollinators because they have a lot of hair on their body which picks up pollen, unlike honeybees which clean themselves after each visit to a flower storing pollen in baskets on their legs. Mason bees carry the pollen around as they go from flower to flower. That right there is a great reason to get this Mason Bee House. FYI - Without the need to protect a hive or queen, mason bees are gentle and rarely sting. ... show more

  • Great intro to housing mason bees and other solitary pollinators
This is a cute mason bee house. It is a good starter house. I say that because it is not reusable. It is more decorative. If you find you like providing these houses, switch to something better made that has removable tubes that you can replace. I am likely going to order some mason bees. If I left it up to nature, the thing would likely fill with mud daubers and other creatures I don’t want. It’s a decent option to start out, just not a long term solution. ... show more

  • Cutest little bug home!
I really love the design and size of this little bug home. My previous one was larger and included other features but, it did not fare well and has fallen apart after 2 years. What I really like about this house is the simplicity of design and the quality of the build. The pieces are secured together very well and at the most important joint, using well placed screws to hold it together perfectly. I also appreciated the included hanging screw to put into my tree to hang it from. As these houses can be reused with removal and replacement of the bamboo rods, I am hopeful that this will stand up to the test of time given the design and how well put together it is to last for many years. I can’t wait to get this outside this spring to help the bees and bugs out! ... show more

  • Great for a beginner like me
I'm trying to attract more pollinators to my garden & yard, as well as provide food and shelter and this mason bee house will be perfect for my first year trying this. In reading up, the size of the holes are important and many houses I looked at the big box stores were quite small/narrow but this house has a mix of sizes including some larger ones. It seems like sturdy construction and I appreciate that it already came with twine for hanging. I hope it holds up when it's time for me to clean it next season. Good quality product for a good price. ... show more

  • no informational material with the product
disappointed in the packaging. received the Bee house in a box (within the shipping box). I was expecting there would be some informational material with the product - eg: name of the product, recommendations on placement, how the bees use it etc. Disappointing. However, the bee house arrived as advertised. ... show more

  • Mason bees are our pals!
The Tihood Mason Bee house is ideal for providing a protected place for this valuable pollinating species. The teardrop shaped house has over 50 bamboo tubes that mason bees find to be perfect for laying their eggs and making a protected place for the larva to mature and go off to pollinate fruit and vegetables. The home is well created and will last several seasons. Hang it in a place protected from weather and predators, (racoons love to take the homes apart). I love the stylish shape of this home, and it will be a cook addition to my other pollinator homes. ... show more

  • Super cute teardrop Mason Bee home
This is a charming little pollinator supporter. It was super easy to install, however, I did modify slightly to attach a hook on the back rather than hanging by the provided twine. I worried with Wendy whether it might be blown down if hung just by twine twine. I love the look, and that it's made of all natural materials. I was a bit surprised that some of the tubes are not open on the end, so bees will not be able to use them. This would be a great gift for a gardener or an outdoor exploring family with young children. It's a nice way to engage with nature and help the precious pollinators. Mason bees are non-stinging too, so a lovely educational opportunity for school-age kids learning about sustainability. ... show more

  • Nice Mason Bee House
This is a nice house for mason bees. It's made completely of wood. The outside is a thin piece of wood that's bent around and fastened at the top with bolts. It's made pretty solid, I wouldn't expect it to break any time soon. It also comes with a small hook to hang it on. Overall I think it's a good product. I can't wait to see if I get some mason bees nesting in it this summer. ... show more
