  • Heavy Gamers

My twins game all the time and tend to be hard on their controllers. We bought this to fix one of our products. This was perfect and did the job. It has stood up to how hard they are on things. I would recommend for the price and quality.

  • Great sticks, easy install
Color: Tighter
These are an obvious upgrade for the Steam Deck. I figured I would do the upgrade while I was replacing the drive. If you want a tighter stick movement compared to the original, these are a great option!

  • Great hall effect mod, better than the Gulikit ones and no gamebreakers like Elecgear.
Color: Tighter
Finally a hall effect kit without weird issues. The original Gulikit sticks were plagued with QA issues that were reported on the Steam Deck subs and discord, and even if you got a perfect one, you had to deal with the square gate issue from the sensors having a larger range than the Deck actually uses (this can cause diagonal sensitivity issues on tight aiming angles in some FPS games). The Elecgear sticks had a response almost the same as the stock sticks, but there was a severe game breaking issue where pushing down middle stick click at maximum bottom deflection would cause the calibration to go off, cutting down maximum down range (it would no longer reach 32767) unless you went down while engaging middle joystick click again, something that didn't happen on Elecgear or stock. You can rest assured that these handheldDIY sticks do NOT have any of these problems whatsoever--I tested for the deflection issue and it does not exist at all. And the DIY sticks have a range calibrator which reduces the maximum range to better accomodate the steam deck. The gate still ends up slightly square, but much better than Gulikits (by a mile), which should make everyone happy (this was the only thing the Elecgear's nailed down perfectly), and I'm sure you can tune the gate even more if you have the precision of Commander Data. Note: you may be able to use thumbstick_cal to fine tune the results even more, although I did not do this, it's usually recommended whenever you go off stock for any analog, that you run thumbstick_cal or trigger_cal in desktop mode "Konsole" in general. We'll see how well these hall sensor sticks hold up over time. ... show more

  • Garbage
Color: Tighter
Originally.. it was great. For 5 minutes. The tightness went away and it was as though I had played 20,000 hours on them. Major stick drift. Yes I followed the instructions. Still didn’t work. If you don’t buy from ifixit or valve.. don’t trust it.

  • Great Value better performance
Color: Tighter
I picked these up even though I already had GuiliKit Hall Effect joysticks I recently put into my Steam Deck OLED. I just wasn’t seeing the difference in performance I had hoped to with the zhuilykits sticks but I initially took the sage fought and picked up sticks for a company I was familiar with. I had also recently put TMR Hall Sticks in my sons Switch Lite because the price was right and I really liked how much tighter they felt while gaming. It’s hard to describe but anyone who’s spent hundreds of hours playing FPS’s knows exactly what I’m talking about. So I swapped out my new hall sticks for these TMR Hall Sticks and immediately noticed a positive difference. The sticks give me more precise aiming and movement that I just wasn’t getting before. I really do enjoy these for that reason. The also have a great overall look and pre-install you can already tell there was thought put into their design. The build quality is decent to good and as long as they keep this level of resistance over time I would be hard pressed to recommend anything else. I wouldn’t mind even more resistance but that might make playing non-FPS games more difficult to unplayable. They do swap pretty easy so for some going back and forth with different resistance might be an option. My only suggestion would be to go with a metal ring around the post. I have started to see this in some controllers and this would most defiantly make for smoother play seasons. I typically put rubber bands around the post anyways. But since I put these in I’ve been debating if I even have a need for this at this point so I’ve been living dangerously without. The value for the price will have me ordering more of these in the future for other handhelds I own as they become available. ... show more

  • Perfect Upgrade for the Steam Deck OLED
Color: Tighter
I am very pleased with this product. I did not have any major issues with my previous factory default OLED control sticks, but I did notice that they felt a bit loose (no other controller for any console I have used in the past had this design) and that there was a tiny bit of drift when setting my deadzones to much smaller. After switching to the tighter version of these hall effect sticks, the controls felt more natural and closer to what I am used to. Further, I can finally play first-person shooter (FPS) games with much greater precision and ease. Before, aiming in emulated FPS games was a bit tricky. Needless to say, this is a must have if you play FPS games or want improved aim and control in any game. After viewing the 5 minute video, installation was simple -- just remove the back shell, unscrew six small screws, unlock the ribbons, swap out the sticks, reattach the ribbons correctly, re-screw, and calibrate. The video they reference covers the whole process. I was careful to use a grounding mat and all the right tools (which are also provided freely). Thanks, Handheld DIY! I am thrilled with my purchase of this product and will definitely recommend it to anyone with a Steam Deck as their first major, affordable upgrade. ... show more
