Some of the holes don't punch and must be done manually. Motor on the spiral insert assist tool stopped functioning after the first use. And two o the slats on the left lock the entire machine if you try and use them. There are no instructions sent with the machine and clearly settings that need explained. So after wasting a lot of money and waiting for the delivery, I still ended up paying a professional to do my task so costing me nearly triple in the long run. ... show more

    • Terrific for Making Storybooks, Book Reports, and Presentations

My kids have gotten into the idea of writing their own books and stories at home. Typically, we would just staple them together as we knew they would likely lose interest or forget about them eventually. But, recently, they have really been putting extra effort into their stories, and they've also been creating more presentations for school. With this, I thought it might help them make their presentations a bit more presentable! It's a bit different than some of the other bookbinding machines I've seen that use a more spiral bound type binding. This one is a bit flatter, and joins together with little pegs, almost like buttons. It's actually a good thing, because I was able to trim the binding to fit paper of differing sizes. One of the kids decided to make their own comic book, for instance, and I was able to trim and smooth off the edges of the plastic binding to fit the book perfectly! The hole punches are very sharp, but not dangerous. They puncture the paper very cleanly, leaving behind nicely punched holes on front and back. Once the holes are punched, adding the binding is super simple. The only concern I may have is that because I have not seen this type of binding before, I hope that finding refills won't be too difficult. Even so, there are enough binders included that we will be making books for quite a while before we need to worry about a refill. The lever has very good leverage, meaning you don't have to put too much effort in to punch through 15 to 20 pages at a time. My kids were even able to help bind their own books without too much of my help. It's definitely a serious piece of office equipment, but that doesn't mean you have to use it solely for office purposes. We've really enjoyed it for a school projects and homemade comic books, and I'm sure it will work for your purposes as well. ... show more

Bought this machine to bind 125 packets. The biggest problem is it doesn't always punch the holes cleanly. It leaves little pieces partially attached which you have to pick off manually. It wastes a lot of time. the roller is another issue. It does not roll on its own. You have to spin it by hand to get it going. Pages don't line up very accurately either.     • ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC- Cuts Through Plastic Page Protectors Too!

I have a variety of instructions for detox fasting, recipes for in depth items, and how to make a variety of things that I don't want to lose if they disappear from the internet. I wanted a way to make bound booklets with the different types of things. I got this for that reason. HOW THIS COMES This comes compacted in a box. It is ready to go quickly and comes with the binder backings to make quite a few booklets and presentations. HOW I USED THIS Because I wanted to protect the different important papers I had, I put each paper inside of a thin plastic sheath which is made to protect the papers from damage. I put the pages with the paper and the plastic sheath in the machine, pressed down quickly and ended up with a perfect cut almost every time. The times that it did not quite make it through a part, I just pulled it off and it was fine. Worked like a charm. HARD TO PRESS? Even with the plastic sheaths on the pages, this was not at all hard to press and cut through easily. I just had to remember to do it in one swift motion. BINDINGS I put the bindings on the plastic covered pages and was able to do about 10-15 pages in each booklet. Without the plastic of course, there would be a LOT more room for pages than that. THE BOTTOM LINE This is a great machine. It has been a HUGE help to combine recipes, instructions and other groups of papers that I wanted to preserve and have in one place.. MY RATING FIVE STARS. I am so thrilled that this machine cuts through the thin plastic sheaths/envelopes for the pages. That is just what I wanted it for. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. ... show more

The binder was easy to use but I made sure to go thru all of the instructions first so I didn't mess up too much product.
