I saw great reviews on this item, so decided to try it. I have De quervain's in my right hand. I liked the idea that the metal was flexible. Which it is not totally only the part along the thumb is moldable. The butterfly part of the metal that is further down the hand hurts where my hand is swollen. I was not able to get the metal to conform to my hand. So the splint part is not comfortable lower on the thumb. The elastic and the velcro are fine.

Bought this for a skiers thumb injury. I originally purchased because I was looking for a brace that just stabilized the thumb while still allowing for up and down wrist movement. That turned out to not be the situation with this brace - it is completely rigid throughout the wrist. However - I ended up really liking it for daily use/sleep. (Still looking for a brace that allows more wrist mobility for when I am working out! It is comfortable, low profile, and the Velcro all around the brace allows the straps to be adjusted to get the fit just right. I pretty much immediately noticed a markable reduction in pain when I put it on. In between this current injury and a past bought with de quervains tenosynovitis I have probably gotten 4-5 thumb spica splints off Amazon so far and I must say this is my favorite! I will update this review later with an update on how the Velcro performs over time.

The brace is not at all shaped to fit the contours of your hand and wrist. The metal piece that runs the length of the thumb (you can see it slightly under the tan fabric in the photo) is very hard but can be bent slightly. However, I see no possible way of bending the metal so that the brace will lay flat against the skin. When you do try to bend it so the thumb-side of the brace fits right, the wrest of the fabric that goes around the front and back side of the hand bows up and will not lay flat. As a result, the brace really does nothing to reduce motion and stabilize the hand. Maybe if you had a really large hand, it might fit better, but definitely not for a woman's hand on the small/medium side. I'd give this 0 out of 5 stars if I could.

Keeps the thumb stable and helps to rest it while doing various tasks. I wear it at night and am not discomforted with it around my hand….a little surprised as I thought I would be. I have a small hand and was pleased with the fit. “One size fits all” has always plagued me.

At first I really liked this product. But after about two weeks of using it quite often, the material and color started to fade away. I got hair stuck in it and couldn't get them out after using a lint roller and a twizzer. I also tried to wash it. It smells better after I wash it but it doesn't look clean-er.

I have advanced deterioration of my STT joint located at the base of my thumb. This brace works wonders at stabilizing my thumb because of the metal insert. The designers knew what they were doing. It is a bit difficult to manipulate the metal to fit my hand, but it can be done and well worth the effort. I am buying another one to have as a spare. It is easy to adjust and is NOT bulky. The material is comfortable and does not irritate my sensitive skin. LOVE LOVE LOVE it!!
