  • Well built and warm.
Style: Explorer Color: Olive Green
Sturdy enough that my 19 yr old son hasn't broken anything yet. Looks good. Surprisingly warm when zipped up. Skylights are a cool feature. Would buy again. Good product.

  • A very good storm and wind tested Tent
Style: Explorer Color: Haze Gray
A really good tent…even in storms and wind! Easy to set up, particularly after your first time. Travels well…. Only bad part is the way you fasten then on to your car cross bars…very tedious and could use a better easier way.

  • Could be better quality for the price .
Ladder doesn’t always lock when extended, hinge crunches sometimes when opening. On a good note nice thick tent fabric. Overall don’t recommend.

  • Nothing but Problems
In the interest of time I'll do a quick summary and then a full detailed one. Quick Summary: When unfolded, the tent is comfortable and fine but with over a half dozen serious issues plaguing the tent's design this is a massive headache I highly suggest you avoid. There are MUCH better models on the market now (albeit for more money - but you get what you pay for here). Review: I have been an off-roader and deep country backpacker for decades now. I have written for outdoor magazines and done several reviews. I put my gear through it and I expect it to preform. Sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn’t but the Tepui tent and brand has been one of the single worst experiences I’ve ever had. I was thrilled when I got my Tepui tent on my rig. It was exactly what I thought I wanted - set it and forget it. Little did I know this would soon become the single biggest disappointment of all my gear. I can't return it so at the very least I can tell you all the failures that I've seen with this product so you don't buy one and experience the same! I have also spent months (truthfully months) writing back and forth with their customer service, and, while very nice, they simply didn't have any useful answers to these issues. In many cases they acknowledged the problems and said they had noted them for future models. What is most important to note is that all these problems are within 15 months of buying the tent! It doesn't seem to make sense to go through step by step of every single issue I've had with this tent but I will list them here. You can see corresponding photos above. 1. The zipper around the base easily gets stuck and I ended up breaking it - having to then pay to get it replaced. 2. The zipper itself that holds the cover to the base separates, and while some zipper wax has alleviated the problem, it is very clear that this zipper will have to be full replaced relatively soon. 3. The screws that hold the center frame into place fall out under vibration. When I spoke with customer service I was told that this was a "design challenge". Clearly this is a serious issue and I'm shocked that they didn't see this from the beginning with product testing. Isn’t this tent supposed to be used while off roading?! How can you have something that falls out under vibration? To note there are SIX of these screws, all with the potential to fall out and cause real headaches for you. 4. The velcro strap that holds the ladder is not UV resistant and literally turned to dust. Again this is clearly a failure on the product testing side. 5. Ladder feet dig into the metal frame of the tent. Again, customer service noted that this is a problem they knew about. They suggested tapping some rubber there or cloth. Yet another band-aid for a poorly made product. 6. Folding failure - this has to be my biggest complaint. When folding up the tent the fabric doesn't fold properly inside meaning that I have to climb up onto roof of my rig and fight to get it all back in there. The customer service sent bungie cords to help with this (which I have yet to test) but the rainfly is still going to be an issue. Honestly, this makes the entire setup pointless. 7. Ripped tooth - In a mid size windstorm one of the "teeth" the holds the rain fly in place ripped. While normally I'd just blow this off, it's yet another product failure for this tent. 8. The lining the holds the tent in place has come out. I have no idea how this happened. I don't know if it'll happen again. While it isn't "damage" it does mean I have to remove the entire top of the tent and "rethread" the tend back through the plastic. If this is something I start having to do all the time I think I'll go mad. As you can see, the issues far outweigh any benefit of this tent. I can’t stress enough, do your homework, look around. There are much, much, much better models on the market. It might also say something that REI dropped Tepui from their stores because of the product failures. ... show more
