  • Worth the $ for the space!!
Style: 12 Person
Incredible!!! This is the perfect tent for our family. We were able to fit a King size camping mattress and a Twin bed with plenty of room for more. We put up the room divider to make a separate area for my toddler, but it was easy for her to crawl over to us to wake us up in the morning. Since we could all hang out in one contained space, we were able to relax/sleep in/snuggle while my toddler just played around in the tent. We just opened all the windows to still enjoy the views! The set up takes some time just because it's so big, but it's as simple as can be and very sturdy. We lucked out with great weather so I can't speak to the weather resistance, but I can imagine it's pretty good considering how quality the whole tent seems to be. I thought this was a splurge purchase, but after one weekend, I know we'll get our money's worth! ... show more

  • Great Tent
Style: 10 Person
The media could not be loaded. We purchased this tent for our very first camping trip. We are a family of 5 so we wanted to make sure we had enough room. This tent was spacious and comfortable for us the entire trip. Before going camping I set up the tent in my front yard as many suggest just so that I could learn how to set it up and to make sure nothing was missing. We had some trouble setting it up because I didn't understand the instructions...that the metal ring key thingy was supposed to go into the bottom of the pole. Once we figured that out, it was smooth sailing. The tent takes about 15 minutes to set up with two people, and after I had done it once it was easy. I waterproofed the tent with scotchgard outdoor waterproofing spray which is suggested to do by veteran campers to make sure the tent is waterproof. On our camping trip, setup was a breeze, and we were able to fit two queen air mattresses and two twin air mattresses and six people. This did take up much of the floor space in the tent, though. The weather was clear so we slept with all the windows open and the rain fly off and it was very comfortable and breezy. Night two, however, it rained, so we had to close the windows and put on the rainfly. Fortunately, the ground vents provided adequate ventilation so we were comfortable and no rain leaked in. It wasn't raining incredibly hard and we were under a lot of tree cover, so I still don't know for sure how rainproof the tent would be in a hard downpour, but nonetheless, it performed great in the weather we had. The tent fits nicely in the bag, even though we aren't able to pack it perfectly so that's a nice bonus. Being able to stand up inside of it makes it feel like a nice cabin rather than a tent. Overall, it seems to be a great tent and we look forward to more camping trips with it. ... show more

  • Good expedition headquarters tent
Style: 12 Person
Roomy, sturdy, sheds rain well, easy to set up. A great base camp headquarters or ham radio expedition tent.

  • Solid tent, but some things you should know.
Style: 10 Person
So we just returned from a four day camping trip with this tent. Our first time camping in it so there's some initial reactions and some tested reviewing here. I should note we had another 10 person tent with a lower roof for 7ish years that did not leak at all, but the door zipper broke and wouldn't close anymore. We were sad to see it go. This tent is large, which is what we wanted. It's also tall so easily has plenty of headroom for tall people. It's definitely a heavy tent, do not expect to haul this any long distances. But the main supporting poles on the sides are made of metal so that does account for some of the weight. Between their sections the elastic cording is steel cable which is great so there's nothing rubber rubbing on the metal edge as you fold it up. The setup is definitely two person, unless you are very ambitious and don't mind walking all over the tent as you set it up, we generally try to avoid walking around on the tent when it's on the ground flat. The setup is not complicated at all, and two people working together can easily have it up in about 10 min if you have set it up in the past. The grey pole in the middle needs to go UNDER the two black poles that X over the top, if you put it above the black poles then the middle leg doesn't touch the ground. The poles are sturdy and the tent feels very sturdy when setup. Even with gusting winds it held it's shape well without any issues. The bottom material is fairly thin, although I can't really say it's much thinner than any other tent. But we put a second thicker tarp on the ground under the tent especially if it's going to be on gravel. We managed to "skin" it a bit just rolling up the tent in the garage during the test setup. The plastic pole holders parts get rolled up in the tent and can cause lumps so you'll want to make sure they are facing the correct direction as you roll it up. Something that we really didn't like is the door flap, for some reason right in the middle of the door it transitions between two flaps. This would have been way better at the bottom corner of the door and just have the top flap overlap the lower one. But they put it right in the middle of the door which stops any kind of smooth opening because you always get stuck with the zipper at that transition point. (see photo) So it also rained for about 8 hours one day. And we found that all but two window loops that hold the windows material when they are zipped open leaked water. Under each one was a puddle, not a large amount but definitely a small puddle. We found this because one of them was over part of a bed so the bed sheets were wet there. Then on investigation we found a puddle at each window. I'm not sure if the water is wicking down the threading or how each of those little dangles managed to leak. The windows were fully shut. The tent wall was dry but each of those loops were wet. We had sprayed waterproofing along all the seams and the lower two ft of the tent the day before (first day of camping) but missed a seam were it was folded over in one side near the bottom corner and there was a puddle of water there. We are very glad we had water proofed all the seams, because it might have been much worse. Luckily there was nothing in the corner and we were able to just towel it up. Probably about 1/4 a cup. The leaking isn't really a deal breaker, as we will water proof it even better next time and make sure we have something under each window loop to collect any water. (and make sure nothing we like dry is under them). Definitely not an ideal feature but we can deal with it. So overall, we like the tent, would be nice to not have to deal with the small leaks. But just wanted to make sure you are aware when you purchase it you'll want to spray some kind of waterproofing and make sure you don't put anything under the window loops. It was easy to take down and the bag has some spare room so you can manage to fit it back in if you are smart taking it down. We might not purchase one like it again, but we'll use it for as long as it'll last. Edit: We have it up in the garage so I took a picture of the little hanging down things that leaked. I sprayed them all with some more water proofing so maybe they won't leak next time we camp. ... show more
