  • Top notch supreme build and performs as great as it looks.
The media could not be loaded. This is worth the price. You get what you pay for. Some things you can get away being cheap on, these items aren’t those things. You can start out cheaper but not frugal cheap. This doesn’t everything it says it does. It’s heavy letting you know it’s built to last for years. ... show more

  • Good solid shifter and handbrake
I used it as a handbrake in a racing car simulator and it worked fine with all the installed games. It’s a solid device that can bare the force applied to it. The handle can be set in several ways to adapt with your arm. It plugs and plays with the pc and can be instantly detected and assigned in the game, remember to update its firmware from Thrustmaster site. It has a button to switch it to a sequential shifter but I didn’t use it for that. ... show more

  • Responsive
Works great as sequential shifter or e brake. I use this on gran turismo 7 and a rallying game. Really makes the game more interesting

  • Worth Every Penny
There is a reason this shifter is expensive, and it has to do with the build quality. When 100% everything is metal, the cost obviously increases. If you're serious about sim racing this product is realitivly inexpensive, especially when you start looking into other well built, mid level gear. I wouldn't pay inflated prices on this though, wait till there back in stock with regular prime pricing and pull the trigger. ... show more

  • Needs a mount, tricky to set-up, only works with some games
I've tried many times to get this set-up for my PC and working alongside my Thrustmaster TMX wheel. There are plenty of games where it's tricky to set up peripherals but this one seems to be next level difficult on some of my games, especially Project Cars 1&2. I couldn't get it to work as a handbrake in any of my games but did manage to get it to work as a shifter. Once it works, it actually feels really good. It's a beast. This thing is built for abuse, it's heavy, the shift mechanic is tight and smooth. There's no question that it's a high quality peripheral. Set up was pretty easy, a few screws and some assembly of the stick (difficulty depends on the set-up you choose to use handbrake vs shifter) and then trying to figure out how to mount it. Make sure to DL the latest drivers from the site and after that you're ready to start wrestling with the game settings. There's also no question that it is not designed for a casual set-up. You almost NEED a racing rig for this piece. It does not come with a mounting bracket and needs a place to be screwed down. Without firmly mounting it, it's useless. So your options are, buy a racing chair or, drill down into a desktop/tabletop and mount it with screws or, build/buy a mounting bracket for your desk/table. Anytime I've had problems with Thrustmaster peripherals it's always been with the drivers and I suspect that's where some of the compatibility issues are coming from on this one as well. HOWEVER, all that said. If you are a hardcore racing sim fan, have a set-up and want to add a really nice piece of hardware to it AND you don't mind fiddling with settings and fussing with your adjustments for awhile... This thing is legit. I'm not sure if it's worth the price point for a casual racer or anyone who has a more diverse gaming set-up. But if you have a dedicated racing set up this might be worth the cash. ... show more

  • Impressive but overpriced! Requires more gear just to mount it.
This is a very impressive shifter/handbrake. Very well built, adjustable and adaptable. I have only used it with Dirt Rally on PC. However I did find some issues: 1. You have to have some sort of bracket to attach it to, it doesn't come with one. That means even more money must be spent. I use the Thrustmaster Racing Clamp which adds another $100 but allows the TH8A shifter to be attached simultaneously. 2. The calibration out of the box was horrible for handbrake use. It would not engage the handbrake until well into the 2nd half of travel, which made it very sensitive (on or off, hardly any progressiveness). I found that Thrustmaster has a calibration program on their website that is separate from the drivers. This allowed me to set my own engagement point closer to the beginning of travel and it works great now...light braking, heavy braking, or anywhere in between. 3. I feel they should have been able to cut down on the cost somewhere without losing out on quality, but the fact that it can be run as a shifter or progressive handbrake is pretty nice. ... show more
