The Thermo Tike exceeded my expectations! For one thing, I don't remember the last time I assembled a product that was so well thought out. The pictures were easy to follow. I did not try to read any of the directions. The screws actually fit in the locations specified without having to bend or force pieces into position. If you just took time to carefully look at the pictures before putting one on the heater, you could not go wrong. All of the posts were identical, so you did not have to worry about making sure you had the right one in the right place. The extensions fit perfectly, with strong tabs holding them so that the screw holes lined up correctly. Remember, you can tilt the unit to reach the taller pieces to assemble them. You can also tilt it to attach the top cover. I was impressed with the solid feel of the upright pieces. The only piece at this point that requires special care is the burner assembly. Look carefully at the illustration and be sure to point the controls in the correct direction. Peel the protective cover before installing. Once that is done, the rest pretty much falls into place. The covers for the bottom are interchangable on the sides and back. The front cover is easy to identify as it is clearly different from the rest, with the hole for the knob. The front cover easily comes off for placement of the LPG tank. A chain holds the front cover in place if you need to just open it to check the tank. The glass tube goes easily into place. I looked all over for the silicone ring that goes on the glass tube and could not find it. However, when I removed the actual tube from its wrapper, the silicone ring was right there, pushed inside the tube. The ring fit the tube exactly with no fussing around to get it on. The tube then slid easily into position. The side grids hook over retainers at the top and sides. Just snap them into place and secure them with the screws. You are done! The most difficult part of the entire job was peeling the protective plastic off the shiny surfaces. Don't forget to do that as you unpack the pieces for assembly. The peeling process takes a little patience. After you finish assembly and install the battery and full LPG tank, the unit fires up immediately when you follow the lighting directions, and makes a beautiful, flaming column which radiates quite a bit of heat. ... show more

Very nice heater. The flame makes for a cozy ambiance and emits plenty of light for night time outdoors. I'd say it gives off around 70% of the heat of a conventional free standing heater, but the effect of the light from the flame makes it worth it in my opinion. The electronic ignition is a nice feature. The instructions were clear and easy to follow. It took about 45 minutes to assemble. I added some thread lock to the screws to stop them from shaking loose while wheeling it over the patio. I found that if you sit the propane tank on the shelf during assembly it helps to level the legs while you tighten the screws. I chose this heater over some other models because it has the quartz tube which holds up to the elements better than regular glass. Overall it's a quality product and looks great when its lit and a classy / modern look when turned off. ... show more

I read way too many reviews on this and similar products (which may all be made by the same people) with many citing extreme assembly difficulty or laughable instructions. I was prepared for hair-pulling and/or tool throwing, but to my surprise, it went together with ease. Maybe the manufacturer caught onto the complaints, or THIS particular brand just got it right. Others mentioned 'sharp edges' and even multiple lacerations during assembly. (What? Are you juggling scissors for entertainment?) Without intentional sarcasm, the panels are thin metal that has been recently machined and not honed, so yes, it can indeed be sharp. I ran sandpaper down the vulnerable edges and all was fine. Overall, it went together easily - about 90 minutes start to finish - and it looks great. The controls are nice and tight, and best of all, it makes my outdoor patio a more pleasant place on a cool evening. P.S. We live in Florida, so it's not exactly snow country, so don't expect to thaw an igloo. But do expect lots of ambiance and some heat which is not a bad combo. ... show more

The product arrives in a box that is protective and well packed. The metal framing is thin and sharp, so be careful during assembly. The final product is sturdy and functions well with the exception of the heat radius. The heat radiates from the top of the flume via a curved metal roof. The roof cover and curvature is small, thus the heat is directed into a small circular radius near the unit (less than 4 feet). ... show more

I can't say enough about these outdoor patio heaters! They are beautiful AND functional! They are a lot larger than I expected, but we love them. My very handy husband was my apprentice as I took the lead on assembling both units, and we had a fun couple of hours doing so! In other words, they were very easy to assemble and move after assembly. The instructions were well written. Oh, and these cool Texas nights, are very pleasant with our new patio heaters. The heat is not overbearing, but you don't have to 'hug' the units to feel the heat either. They also cool off very quickly, so we can replace the covers (also purchased from Amazon) after about 5 minutes of extinguishing the pilot. We are very pleased with our purchase and will definitely recommend to others (which we already have). ... show more

I read ALL the reviews and RARELY make my own comment. But I had to rate this heater. I toiled DAYS over what to buy. Finally decided to go with the look I wanted over the functionality. Well, first and foremost, Amazon was INCREDIBLE with customer service. I had this shipped to a vacation spot with no official mailing address. But no fear-Amazon came through with flying colors! The reviews of this heater said the instruction were horrific-NOT SO! My husband had it together in an hour! Just pay attention when putting it together and it all makes sense. Reviews stated the heat was not sufficient-NOT TRUE! It is GREAT-in fact, I think it throws more heat than the traditional patio heaters as we have one of those too. LOVE the heat, LOVE the look! Will definitely buy another one! ... show more
