I liked it, but I had to return. I needed a 8 pin and a 4+4 for my motherboard power. This PSU is for lower power boards that only have the standard 24 with 8 or 4 pin. Very quiet and well packaged. I should have been more thorough researching.

    • Five months and it's dead.
I held off reviewing this power supply for a while to see how it held up, and now I'm glad I did. Just to provide a little more information, this PSU was powering a pretty basic computer with less than 300 watts of load. The computer was powered on less than 10 hours a week and used just for email and web surfing, and it failed last night, five months to the day I received it. This is completely unacceptable. Best part? Although it (supposedly) has a two year warranty, Thermaltake does not provide warranty coverage for units bought from Amazon. I bought the same Corsair PSU I picked up for a friend's computer, hopefully I will have better luck with the new one. ... show more

Everything was fine then I installed this PSU and it refused to boot and while troubleshooting it killed my motherboard. Not sure if it was kill on first power or when it started getting worse but that shouldn't happen especially at this price point. I couldn't get to actually use it but during brief points that things seem to work semi correctly it was pretty quiet, but that's without a proper load. Installing is sometimes a pain, chords ends are kinda painful to use especially after a while, but that seems a given. But I think there's some ways manufacturers can make it better. ... show more

Not sure where to begin. I'm in shambles right now, in tears as I write this. I lost my whole life because this power supply destroyed 4 terabytes of SSDs and smoke started coming out of my HDDs, and anything else that was plugged in SATA Power. Thankfully my CPU, Mobo, and GPU are all fine. I only used this for a few days, then bam everything instantly turned off. After a bunch of headache and trouble shooting I've learned that this PSU had killed my drives. It had my whole life on it, from games to programming projects, to important documents. All gone. This thing sure knows how to make a grown man cry. If you've read this far, just buy a PSU from a better brand like Corsair or EVGA, also take a moment to back up your data. I have a new PC build with an 850W Bronze EVGA semi-modular power supply. I wanted to go fully modular with a gold rating and I thought I would take a second look at Thermaltake. My PC build works and I took the time to connect this new power supply up to my brand new PC - turned the switch on and my motherboard indicated there was power. Next, I power on my PC using the front power button... "CLICK!" The power supply decides not to power up the system. Ok, so now I'm troubleshooting - I power off the PSU, remove the SATA power cables (2) and turn everything back on to see if I can get this to power up... "CLICK!" Same problem. Next, I remove the PCIe power cable (1) going to my nVidia 1070 graphics card and try again... "CLICK" At this point there is nothing but the 24 pin power connector and the 8 pin motherboard power connector and the same result - "CLICK!!!" I decided to put my EVGA 850W PSU back into the PC, wired everything up properly and switched everything on... "SUCCESS!" it appears the faulty unit is the Thermaltake Toughpower GF1. Apparently this Toughpower is NOT-SO-TOUGH after all. I took a chance buying another Thermaltake PSU after I had one in the past fail on me. So much for my money ever going back to this brand!! I'm not happy with TT - it would be worse if I didn't have my other powersupply to put back in. ... show more

I have done everything I could think of when installing the 850w PSU. I tried the paper clip test (failed), switched out plugs (mainly 24 pin and cpu pin), used the packaged power plug, and switched back/forth with my original 650w PSU. All I know when I switched back to my 650w everything was turning on just fine. Once I switched to the 850w all I heard was a click from the PSU and my rgb ram light will turn on. I am giving this product a 3 star because Amazon has great customer service and was able to return with full refund. It could possibly be that there is a bunch of dud PSU. I have peace of mind that my system has more than enough clean power. The Gigabyte Arous Pro's have rock solid VRMs, and 750 watts of gold rated power is more than enough with plenty of head room for future upgrades and additions. PSU runs silent, all voltages are rock solid during stress tests at full load. Modular is great for cable management, especially with my build and a total of 8 RGB fans (2 in push/pull on cooler) it can get a little crowded, but only installing the power cables I need helps a great deal and my PC is the cleanest looking I've ever built. Definitely recommend this PSU. Update 10/28/2021: So now I'm running this PSU with the Gigabyte Aorus X570 Master Rev 1.2 board and a Ryzen 7 5800X. Works well. Non-RGB and didn’t matter since it lurks in the basement of my NZXT 510 case and no-one sees it anyways. Unit is well made and whisper quiet. Much larger than the Corsair “value” 550 non-modular I bought for my build 1.5 months ago when pickings were even more limited than now. The only negative is that it would be nice to have molex and sata cables if one connection and different lengths to minimize the bulk of the cables and space they take. Not a big enough gripe to take anything away from this solid power supply ... show more
