The setup process for this water filter was straightforward. However, it's important to note that when initially using the first two water tanks, you may observe numerous bubbles and the water in the entire tank may appear quite dirty. This wasn't mentioned in the instructions, so it caught me by surprise. After flushing out three tanks of water, as per the instructions, the filter is ready for use. I checked the TDS, and it reads 3 or 4, indicating that the filtered water is now clean. For comparison, the TDS value of a well-known spring water brand ranges from 20 to 30. The seven-stage undersink water filter system in my home yields a TDS in the range of 20 to 26. Impressively, this particular device produces water with a TDS of only 3, which is remarkable. It also produce hot water which was wonderful. The only drawback is the high price of this device, especially without the $100 coupon. My undersink system produces much more volume of water and costs less with 7 stages than this one with three stages. ... show more

The media could not be loaded. Pros: Compact No plumbing required Instant hot water Multiple temperature settings, to include near boil Room temperature dispensing Easy to operate Cons: Taste and smell of purified water Cartridges aren't NSF/ANSI rated I was very excited when I saw this, but I'm having trouble getting past the taste of the water. Pure water without the need to plumb for water or drainage is an amazing concept. Out of the box it tells you to wait 24-hours with the lids off to air out the chemical smell from the water tanks. I recommend 48-72 hours at the very least. I also washed out the water tank with soap, after to help get the 'smell' out of the water. I only did that after the initial flushes didn't help. Despite this, and running at least 10 tankful’s of water through it, I couldn't get the taste to improve. I even tried using my filtered water from the refrigerator, which I know tastes good, to no avail. That chemical taste is still there. For now, I emptied it out and will leave it open to air out more for a week and re-test. If it improves, I'll update the review. The initial cleaning cycle pushes out a lot of debris, making a foamy surface and whitish water. That disappeared after the 2nd flush. The tank holds 16-cups of water with about 4-cups remaining before you must dump the tank and refill with fresh water. Emptying out the reservoir (filtered water) will give you up to 8-cups before they system must refill. It won't wait until empty and will start filtering as soon as you use the water. This system filters the water, sending the clean water to an internal reservoir on top (under the cover) and sends the 'dirty' water back into the tank. You can see the TDS (total dissolved solids) count going up as the freshwater tank gets used. This filter is for potable water only and won't make unsafe water safe. Overall this is a beautiful machine, with a clear display. Easy to operate, including the unlock button for hot water. No holding it down, just press. If you're looking for a water dispenser that doesn't require permanent plumbing, this is a great choice. I just hope I can flush this enough, so the water tastes pure. ... show more
