This simple device is actually my new favorite stud finder. It works well and the shape lends itself well to its purpose. I have used this to hang 4 different flat panel TVs and I ended up drilling in the right place every time. You might be tempted buy electronic stud finders but they don't actually work well and rely on batteries. I honestly didn’t know what to think because I’ve never heard of a magnetic stud finder… And the ones that beep at you are always a pain. I’ll admit that this little guy has a strong magnet and the only downside is you do have to go up and down the wall because it only finds the screws in the drywall or the stud and they don’t put screws through the hole stud… But once you figure out how to run it across the wall properly to find those screws… It’s perfect ... show more

A simple design and a great addition to anyone's tool box...The magnet is strong and it makes the placement of any fixtures - towel bars, etc. - simple! I ordered two - will likely order a couple more in the future..

Let me be totally honest. This thing is not a traditional studfinder. It is a magnet. You can definitely cause yourself a headache using this as your only source of finding a stud. It does an okay job, but isn't a replacement for a full-featured studfinder. It is a decent price and will certainly work for some people in certain applications. ... show more

Easier to use than the old-fashioned magnetic bar inside a plastic box! Love it and almost cancelled my order due to people making FALSE claims it cannot find a nail with plaster over it! They are LYING, as it not only sticks to it, it grabs and hangs on well!

This is the best stud finder I have ever used. Locates the nail and the magnet holds to the wall (hands free) so you can make your marks or just keep it handy until you are ready to locate the next stud.

Reliably finds nails in the drywall which in turn allows you to find the studs. The magnet is really strong and the housing is sturdy. Basic but honestly it works better than alot of the electronic stud finders out there and you can easily keep it in your pocket or tool bag. I also have a good electronic stud finder but I use this to remove the ambiguity from stud finder results. ... show more
