I was looking to replace my Northface rain jacket that I've had for 20-years. It was a quality product and served me very well for over two decades but it was definitely time to replace it. The quality of the Alta Vista pales in comparison. No mesh lining to wick away moisture. It's very hot and not very breathable. No interior pouches/pockets - which were very useful.
