Description

Size:2-10 Gallon All Tetra HT heaters have red/green indicator lights to let you know when the heater is heating(red) or on standby(green). The low voltage thermostat maintains water at 78°F without any adjustment required. Be sure purchase the correct heater for your tank size. • Be very careful!!!
Size: 2-10 Gallon
This heater worked amazingly...for 2 and a half weeks. Pay very careful attention people. I came home from a 21 hour shift at work, and this heater was making a funny noise and my turtle was acting strange. I looked closer and noticed the coils were glowing cherry red. The water temperature read 99 degrees. My poor RES was cooking for God knows how long. The poor thing. I will not be purchasing another heater from this company. It was faulty in less than 3 weeks. Luckily he is fine, but my turtle could have died. ... show more

  • Overheated and killed my fish...
Size: 10-30 Gallon
I want to start off by saying I never write negative reviews, but I had to this time in hopes it helps someone else. I used this in my 10 gallon tank with my betta. It had worked for several months beforehand, but I check on him daily. I checked him in the morning and the temperature was fine, around 86 or so. However, when I returned at night (12 hours later), it was over 100 degrees. My beloved pet was dead and the heater was sizzling when I yanked it out of the water. If it breaks, it won't just stop working -- it can overheat extremely to the point it will kill just about any fish, even tropical ones. If you have a heater like this, you can lesson your chances of overheating by handling it with care. Never run it above water (if you have to remove it, unplug it first). But honestly, it's not worth the risk. Don't buy a cheap heater. Too much can go wrong. Spend the extra money and get one that's better made, and plug it into an alarm to be double-sure. It's not worth losing your animals over. Please do what's best for your animals and keep them safe. I hope this can help someone else. I love my fish and wanted to keep them safe. I recommend you pay slightly more and keep your animals safe. ... show more

  • I read they liked slightly warm water so I bought these after checking ...
Size: 2-10 Gallon
I bought 2 of these for my betta tanks, they are both around 5 gallon, the fish always seemed to be sluggish and laying around on the bottom of the tank. I read they liked slightly warm water so I bought these after checking pricing at my local pet store. The same exact one at Meijer was double this price, which worried me if it was going to be decent. I plugged them both in , obviously one in each tank, attached the suction cups, there was nothing to adjust at all, the red light came on saying it was working, after about an hour it turned green which meant it had reached proper temp, I felt the water and it was not really warm but more slightly warmer than room temp. But before it was quite cool to the touch, almost cold. Within less than an hour later both fish were swimming all over the place. This was 4 days ago and it although it still is early I have to say this was a great buy. The fish continue to seem happier, more active, eating better, cant believe how much a difference it made. So far , so good. I love my fish, dumb I know, but bettas are so unique and have personalities I'm just sure of it, lol! I feel like a much better fish owner having got these heaters and making the fish more comfortable, and I could swear their colors seem brighter, a side effect perhaps? This is a great price , it works like it said it would and it adjusts the temp in the water automatically. I cant complain at all about this product. ... show more

  • Aquarium temperature control for dummies!
Size: 2-10 Gallon
I love these. I have been keeping tropical aquariums for 45 years and temperature control just doesn't get any easier than this. I just drop them in the tank, give them some time to acclimatize, and plug them in. There is nothing to adjust ever. Most tropical fish are tolerant of temperatures across an 8-10 degree F range and these factory adjusted heaters will be well within it. All of my fish are perfectly healthy and spawn regularly. Here's another tip: Instead of buying 1 heater, get 2 that are half the wattage you need and put one in each side of the tank. This will virtually eliminate any possibility of cooking or freezing your fish in the event of a malfunction. The lights will tell you if you have a problem and, if one fails to come on, the other heater can keep temps high enough to keep your fish alive till you can get the bad one replaced. Or, in the event one sticks on it won't be powerful enough to cook your fish before you know there is a problem. I have had heaters fail both ways and kill fish. Unfortunately, sooner or later ALL heaters will fail, even the most expensive ones. If nothing else, at some point the cord will deteriorate. This plan is the best solution I have found. Don't panic if they are not perfectly synchronized and one winds up doing most of the work. If your aquariums are in your climate controlled home I have found this to be nothing to fret over. Good luck! ... show more

  • Has one fatal flaw :(
Size: 10-30 Gallon
KEEP A CLOSE EYE ON YOUR TANK'S TEMPERATURE. Either buy an alarm for if it gets too hot or be good about checking your thermostat OFTEN. I've had this heater for about nine months and have been using it in a ten gallon aquarium. It worked WONDERFULLY until today. Sometime during the night it went on the fritz and heated my tank to ABOVE 110 DEGREES FAHRENHEIT. I woke up to a dead Betta and three dead snails, all cooked alive. It was heartbreaking. There's some fatal flaw with these heaters. They are cheap, and when they work, they work great. But you are taking a risk if you buy one of these for your tank. ... show more
