  • Keeps outdoor fountain clean!
I bought this for my outdoor fountain. The water was getting green and a few drops of this cleared it right up. (It's a smaller fountain. Not sure how well it would work on larger fountains).

  • Be very careful when using this product!
I suddenly had major green water that you couldn't even see the fish from algae!! My tank is by a large glass window which unfortunately doesn't aide in the algae prevention. I could not get rid of it so i tried this product. Tetra is typically the BEST brand in aquatics however, even when following the instructions, after a water change, my tank was back to green again where I literally could not see my fish 3 days later so I followed the directions and added more rather than cycling the tank. Sadly I found one of my parrot fish dead three says later when I decided to finally do a 3/4% where change to get rid of as much as possible. This product is not safe when used as recommend! Very disappointed in Tetra right now! Upon looking further into this product since it has safety warnings all over it it actually ELIMINATES OXYGEN in the tank! I do not recommend using this every 3 days as recommend on the bottle. Instead, I suggest cycling the tank about every 4 days depending on how bad your situation is, adding a good quality water conditioner using same temperature water and adding it to the tank again. That seems to be working for me so far. Also be sure when you use this to change the filter every time you cycle the tank or change the water no matter how new the filter, this will help eliminate the old algae from flowing through the filter again and putting it back in the water. Also be sure to scrub ALL decor in the tank, as well as the walls of the tank. I am even considering replacing some of my gravel but not all as its important when cycling a tank or setting up a new tank to leave some old gravel in as it contains healthy bacteria that the fish need. In conclusion, its just better to cycle the tank every 4 days or so, add same temperature water with conditioner and use recommended dose of the algae remover rather than keep adding it every 3 days. Cycling the tank does no harm... some fish breeders even do it every 1 to 2 days. Also some fish are more hardy than others so just he careful, knowing about your fish and how hardy they are can help tremendously! Hope this helps! ... show more

  • It works wonders!
Do not pay attention to those negative reviews. I have a 55 gal fish tank that would get worse and worse, no matter what I did. I do a weekly gravel clean (got a couple goldfish) and a weekly 20%-25% percent water change but the water would continue to get worse and worse. It got to a point where I couldn't even see the thermometer in the back or the fish swimming at the rear. The water was a yellowish, a greenish, and a brownish mixture. Something drastic had to happen so I went online, bought this product, and read and re-read the instructions. Common sense and following the manufacturer instructions are vital for this product to function properly and safely. You need 1ml for every 12 gal. You cannot use this in a aquarium that has been established for less then 3 mo. You need to add this in an area where there is a lot of water movement or you need to dilute it in a cup of aquarium water. Since this was the first time I was using this product I decided to dilute it in a cup of water in case I made a mistake. One teaspoon is 5ml so I used that but didn't fill it all the way (if I did it would have been for 60 gal and mine is 55). I did a quick gravel clean up (5 gal removed) and a quick interior glass wipe, and before I put in the new water I put in the pre diluted tetra algae control. Then I poured in my conditioned water, sat down to watch some football, and hoped for the best. It took around 5 hours for me to see hints of the blue background plus 3 more hours for me to read the numbers on my thermometer. By this time it was 1 am so I went to bed and woke up to a beautiful fish tank. The water was crystal clear. My fish were swimming normally and not one has died since. I was thinking that I'd have to do up to 3 doses to get rid of all the algae, but all it took was one to bring back my aquarium to perfect condition. Other reviews claimed that this made their tank cloudy or worse but I did not notice this because my water was already horrible. Please give this product a chance. For all you that are leery about "positive payed" reviews don't forget that companies also pay people to leave negative ones on their competition. Do as much research as you can and read reviews on other major sites that sell the same product. Follow the directions to a T and you won't regret it. ... show more

  • No built in measuring method
So I will say the same thing most have said. No built in measuring method. Also who the hell has a 12 or multiple of 12 gallon tank. Wow O Wow. Thumbs down on the guy who engineered the bottle, I think you forgot something. BY THE WAY I USED A SYRINGE TO MEASURE. Do Not use the marks on the side it is a 100ml bottle with ten marks so 1 mark is 10 ml. No wonder so many people are killing there fish. 1 mark will treat 120 gallons ... show more

  • My fish tank was gross and this totally cleaned it overnight.
I would highly recommend this product! My tank was very cloudy green and looked terrible and this product cleaned it up overnight. I woke up the next morning and it was clear and looked great- huge difference. I do have some words of advice for other users. MAKE SURE YOUR FISH DO NOT TRY TO EAT THE DROPS THAT YOU PUT IN! My fish are on a pretty consistent feeding schedule - so every morning when I feed the fish they usually start attacking the surface where I drop the food. When I went to apply this anti algae liquid- I did a few drops in the tank- one of the fish immediately thought it was food and tried to eat the droplets. This fish later died a few hours later- obviously after ingesting a concentrated drop of the liquid. NOT GOOD. Do I blame this product- NO- because all my other fish were fine- but its defiantly something to be aware of. Make sure you fish are away when putting the droplets in the tank- or just immediately stir the tank or put the drops in the filter so they are dispersed better. It will kill your fish if they eat it. ... show more
