Features

  • Give a peaceful home to your betta --- When fish are given a homely ambiance, they tend to grow stronger. By creating ideal water conditions, we assure that they can prosper. The Indian Almond leaves are considered to have beneficial properties and increase fish appetite.
  • Have a breeding pet? Add catappa --- The tropical fishes create bubble nests using a floating leaf to anchor their bubbles. So, if your tank has a breeding tetra, guppy, platies, molly, cichlid or shrimps, just add these leaves and see them anchoring their eggs over IAL. That is a sight to behold.

  • Smaller leaves, easier portion control --- Each packet contains 50 leaves measuring around 2-inches high which is a great value for money. Smaller Catappa leaves make for easier portion control and a good way to slowly introduce your pet to a new surrounding especially for smaller fishes in smaller tanks.
  • Adds beauty to nano tanks, small bowls and jars --- The Catappa leaves from SunGrow are unprocessed so you know what goes into your tank. They look pretty in a nano tank and add aesthetic beauty to your planted tank. You may even add these in individual betta jars or bowls.

  • Perfect, small almond leaves
Pattern Name: 100 leaves
Well-packaged. Arrived dry and crispy, as expected. Effective at releasing tannins. Small size, perfect for tadpole cups - only need one leaf per cup for a deep amber color. Will definitely order again.

  • The leaves will turn RED once soaked in water! Great product!
Pattern Name: 50 Leaves
I have a 10 gallon tank. It is well filtered and heated. I condition the water and add beneficial bacteria. I do water changes every two weeks and nearly a full change each month. I also have four different species of plants. I have a female betta and one female danio ( I had 3 danios, but the female betta killed them. She has lived peacefully with the third danio for weeks in account of the danio swims super fast, so the betta gave up. Also they are both happy and healthy.) Good, now that we have a little backstory, let me tell you my experience with these almond leaves. When I first received the package, the leaves were lovely in shape and were not too fragile. They held their form well. I put seven leaves in the tank. The package said 10 leaves for 12 gallons but I have a 10 gallon. Immediately my curious betta examined the leaves. She continues to attempt to eat the stem, possibly because it resembles her feeding tongs. My betta was glass surfing because a plant was dying in my tank and had gone unnoticed. I purchased these leaves to hopefully reduce the stress of the ammonia spike that had happened previously. Immediately after adding the leafs I see a change in attitude and she is playful and relaxed. My danio doesn't really care, but I know this meant a lot for my betta. At first, the leaves do not match the color of the leaves advertised. I wasn't very worried about what the color would be when they arrived, I was more worried about the fragility of them considering they're dried leaves coming in the mail. Like I said they arrived safely and have wonderful form. After 8 hours of them still floating at the top, I decided to flip them over. To which most of them sank within 30 seconds. The package label stated that I could use 20 to 30 leaves in a 12 gallon tank if a stronger color was desired. I was using these leaves for medicinal reasons. I had initially thought that adding too many leaves could be toxic. I will keep this in mind for the future. I took a final picture after 3 days of leaves in a ten gallon. I can see a light coloration in the water and the leaves now have a vibrant red-brown color. Great value for my money, and well worth the buy. I will be purchasing again in the future. It's unfortunate that so many people were not patient enough with the product. Many reviews that I saw on here were about how the leaves didn't match the color in the picture. Their loss! ... show more

  • Slow releasing and hardy
Pattern Name: 50 Leaves
Leaves came tightly packed in a small bag, though there were very few that were cracked or broken. The thumbnail image suggests that the leaves are reddish and shiny, but they are brown and dry, which is to be expected from catappa leaves for aquariums. The leaves are small and vary in size from about 2 and a half inches to one inch, from what I received. They are very hardy and release tannins slowly, barely tinting the water after a week or so until I had to inevitably perform a water change. I put a couple leaves in small mason jars and poured boiling water on them to try to extract tannins to put in my aquariums directly, but even after five days the water in the jars is only slightly brownish but does smell a bit like tea. The leaves look great and after a few days they will stop floating, though I slightly buried mine in the substrate until then. They last a long time compared to what I expected. The only problem I have experienced with these is that they are almost too durable, as I said before I've done water changes which certainly removed some of the released tannins, so it seems unlikely that they would build up unless if I put a huge amount of leaves in the tank at once. I don't suggest these for someone who wants to create blackwater environments, but if you want to have some leaf litter and a slight tint to your water, these are great. Coming in a pack of fifty means that they will probably last a while if you only have a few or smaller tanks. ... show more

  • Works for fin rot on bettas
Pattern Name: 50 Leaves
Giving this a 5 star review! Our betta had the beginning look of fin rot. I added 6 of these leaves, with dosed aquarium salt to his 5.5 gallon, and the fin rot is gone. The water didn’t turn as brown as I thought it would. There is no smell, and nothing to clean. Very easy, just threw in a bunch of these leaves and my sweet betta looks great after 24 hours! This is a good quality catappa leaf, though the leaves are small and you may want to add more than the amount recommended on the packaging. Made my betta healthy again without having to buy expensive medicine. ... show more

  • Lower the PH
Pattern Name: 50 Leaves
These worked great to lower the ph in my betta's fish tank and his colors have never looked brighter. The leaves look dusty and dirty in the packaging but once they are in water for awhile they have a slight orange or red tint to them that looks beautiful in the tank. They also gave the water a slight brown tint that matches his natural environment. He likes to nap on and under the leaves. I think these smaller leaves were a great choice for my small tank versus the larger varieties. ... show more

  • Water color change
Pattern Name: 50 Leaves
I love this product, and my betta does too! It does change the color of the water, but it perfectly balanced the levels in my tank and it doesn’t look dirty it looks natural. All I had to do was toss a couple in the top of my tank and within a couple minutes my tank was where it needed to be. So all in all they were easy to use, they are great quality, safe for my fish, and make the tank healthy. I will definitely be using this again and again. ... show more

  • I need bigger leaves
Pattern Name: 50 Leaves
A good price and you get a lot of tiny leaves. No smell, didnt kill anything, and the plants in the tank are unaffected. However the water seemed a little too clear considering how many were added to the tank over the course of a few weeks to see a change. I kept some in a little sauce cup of water for a few days just to test if they do work, and they did.. I may just need to get bigger leaves from somewhere else. But they're easy enough to use and my fish is still healthy ... show more
