  • Works Great!
The media could not be loaded. This provides a GREAT view with ability to take photos or video of what you are seeing. In this case, it's the barrel of a 1964 Egyptian Hakim, around the gas tube area. This was tested on an iPhone 16 Pro, so that's what the review is focused on. I do plan to test it with a laptop once I get my workbench properly setup. Pro: - Fairly easy to setup (see other thoughts below) - Very easy to use - Adjustable lighting - Selection of attachable angled mirrors - ability to take photo's or video EASILY Con: - There is nothing really wrong with this, it works great Other thoughts: - Ok installation... For the iPhone if you get a prompt asking if you want to allow this application to discover devices on your network, pick yes. Otherwise you'll spend hours trying to figure out why it always shows disconnected. (By default I don't allow things to 'discover devices' on my network. - The instructions say something along the lines of "when prompted, scan this code with your camera" to activate the application. I never received this, however if you go into the app settings an 'Activation Code' you can scan the 2nd code they provide and get "Never expire". This might have been due to my not allowing the app to discover devices on my network during install, and the round about troubleshooting I did to get it working. - There's 2 cables to attach the camera to your "system". I used the USB-C cable for the iPhone and no problems. The other cable is a USB and includes a USB-C adapter if needed. This adapter is VERY loose and I'm thinking it could cause issues if used. But then again, why not just use the provided USB-Cable? My video/photos: - The video is using one of the provided mirrors. I did move a little fast while recording, it's up to you how fast you move when recording. I tried to upload a video with no mirror but I can only upload one video. - Second photo is using the mirror and looking at the gas tube into the barrel. - Third photo is just the camera, no mirror. I wasn't able to find the gas tube without the mirror. - Fourth photo is the loose connection for the provided USB connection with adapter installed. Again, I'm not going to dock them for this because the other cable is a USB-C cable. And hey... This is Hakim is new to my collection, it's 61 years old , and I haven't fired yet 😊 so YES it's needs a good cleaning! ... show more

  • Finally, I Can See Inside Barrel Without Taking Rifle Apart Like It’s 1986 Again
Bratan… where was this Teslong thing back when I was squatting behind shipping containers cleaning rusty Mosins with toothbrush and despair? This borescope—this is modern miracle. I plug into my phone (yes, I have phone now, don’t ask how), snake cable into rifle like surgical procedure, and boom—inside view sharper than babushka’s tongue. I saw rifling grooves so clean I almost wept. Saw fouling too. So much fouling, I had flashback to that one time we "acquired" ammo from shady dude in trench coat. Cable is long—45 inches. That’s longer than my parole sheet. Snake it in from muzzle to chamber, no stress. It bends like cousin Vanya after third bottle of horilka, but doesn’t break. Solid build. Feels like military-grade noodle. LED lights? Bright. Six settings. I use brightest one to look for rust, or maybe hidden dreams of accuracy. Comes with little mirrors for different calibers, and they snap on without fuss. Even has special one that cuts glare—very helpful if you're peeking into something shinier than your future. It connects easy—USB-C, Micro-USB, even iPhone 15/16. I don’t have iPhone, I have cracked Android, but still works perfect. Picture quality? Better than CCTV footage of stairwell fight last weekend. I used to clean rifles by smell and guesswork. Now I see every scratch, every speck of carbon like I’m KGB doing barrel autopsy. Makes cleaning faster, and I save money on patches and vodka from not wasting effort. Case it comes with? Decent. I stuffed in semki packet and one emergency lighter—still zips shut. Final judgment? For price of one night out with boys and one pair of lost Adids slides, you get tool that makes you look like professional. And you can still squat while using it. ... show more

  • Needs manual exposure controls
The media could not be loaded. It's great being able to inspect the barrels of my firearms, but I was really hoping this would work to check alignment of the gas ports. Unfortunately, there's some sort of auto-exposure control somewhere in the camera's hardware that tries to keep the lighting the same regardless of the intensity of the LED lights. As you can see in the video, as I increased the brightness (starting from off and the lowest setting), the overall exposure kept returning to about the same level so the gas port remained a black hole. Individual exposure control would have cured that. The whole setup seems very well thought out, though the stiff nature of the long, flexible cable can be a bit unwieldy - I've more than once had it flop out of my hand. Even though it ships with the cables on the side of the case with a strap, the mesh pocket does a better job and holds everything…and it's easier to keep things from one side stacking on top of items on the other side. The mirrors could stand to have some form of markings or at least labels on the case to help grab the right one the first time. Their diameters measure 0.389" (9.88mm), 0.333" (8.46mm), 0.274" (6.96m), 0.233" (5.82mm), 0.192" (4.88mm), while the threaded end of the cable is 0.20". Some of the mirrors are poorly aligned with the camera, giving up some usable image area by looking past the mirror. The shallower angle of the 35° mirror leaves a lot of its brace material in the camera view - removing the knurled ring allows it to be threaded down more to avoid that, but only works on larger barrels since it changes the focal distance. I really like being able to use either a mobile device or a laptop - and Windows 10 auto-detected the camera without a need to install any special software (the built-in Camera app works). The app on my Galaxy S23 didn't want to recognize the camera until I rebooted but worked right away on my Galaxy S9 tablet. The camera output occasionally freezes and needs to be reconnected (happening on both Android and Windows). ... show more
