I bought a pair of these in the black/red mode. I like them. I read reviews and saw a lot of disappointment over the paint on the spin locks. I ordered these anyway because I didn't want chrome. The paint finish WAS less than ideal, but that didn't bother me at the price these sell for. Outside of the lock finish there is nothing wrong with these. I sprayed the locks with red rust o leum enamel and that issue is gone. Bonus: The locks also come with a set screw for extra resistance to loosening (in addition to the gasket on the locks). I like that. The picture doesn't show that. At the price these sell for, it's a bargain, whether there's thin paint or a few burrs here and there or not. There was one review where a gasket was missing, which is legit inexcusable, but just looking at the bars and locks, the machine time to make them can't be insignificant. I'm guessing these are being cut to length and someone loads these into CNC milling machines individually. These are made in China. The same unit if produced in the U.S. or somewhere in Europe?...the finish would be pristine but they might be $275/pair. No thanks. Rust o leum and a round file are way cheaper. One thing to be aware of is that the spin locks are wider (taller?) than the locks on the chrome version of this. (I do have a pair of the chrome ones). This may be to accommodate the set screw, which the chrome locks don't have. The red locks are about 7/16" wider than the chrome ones. Other than that, be careful that you don't get burned by ordering these for steel plates that have 1" holes. These are for cast iron plates that have 1.15" holes and these will not fit into the 1" steel plate holes. Yes4All does have a black/red version for the 1" plates also. Careful. I'm thinking about ordering another pair. EDIT: Well, I did order another pair. Got enough handles now to not have to swap plates during workouts. Again, the paint on the spin locks was subpar, but structurally, there is no problem. I've added a photo for this edit. The dingy looking locks are the way they will look as shipped. The other locks I sprayed with RustOleum. Didn't have to spray the handles. They are fine as shipped. For the price, I am very pleased with this product. ... show more

5 pounds of Chrome plated stainless steel, able to hold up to a hundred pounds, threaded locking nuts, all for under $20! How can they afford to sell a product at such a bargain? Gets the job done and really nice to add some barbell exercises with just a set of dumbells but sometimes the connector gets stuck on the dumbell and can be a PITA to transition back in between sets.

I needed a connector for the standard 1-inch dumbbells, not 1.15-inch. I did not read the product description closely enough. That said, it did work, and seemed to be of good quality, but I've stopped using it because it's clear that using the wrong size would cause too much wear/tear on both the dumbbells and the connector. Still waiting on the plates and bars (ordered the 200 lb set and an extra pair of handles), but the barbell connector came early. There were a number of sharp spots in the knurling. I ordered some silica carbide sandpaper and will gently sand the grip area. If that fixes the issue, I’ll update.

The product is fine, but I have plates that are an exact fit for a 1-inch diameter bar. Looking for plates that would fit these 1.15-inch diameter bar rods that these dumbbells have. The 10s, 7.5 and 5 lbs. plates from Yes4All are too small for this set. Looking for 20 & 10lbs. solid plates for this set. ... show more
