The media could not be loaded. I was having codes P0172 and P006A, and suspected a leak somewhere. I had never used a smoke machine before, but this little unit made it easy. It took a minute or so, but sure enough smoke came wafting up from behind the bumper. I had to take off the bumper to see the problem… the nuts securing the piping from the turbocharger to the intercooler had worked loose. Easy fix, but you have to know where to look. This machine did the trick. Highly recommend, and a great value. Very easy to set up and use. Only ding is the poor English in the user’s manual, but the info you need is there and clear enough.

I found a hairline crack in one of the evap system hose nipples on the top of the tank on our 2005 Grand Caravan with it. Don't overfill the oil. It doesn't seem to put out smoke when you do.

I was able to use this at remote job sites where I was not able to bring my large compressor. It takes a bit for it to fully smoke a large fuel tank but I love the leak-detection flow gauge as that helps me verify there are no leaks at all!

I purchased last year but didn't end up using at that time due to change in plans, unfortunately today I had a need/use for it , only to find that it doesn't work right out of the box ? apparently I should have tried it out at the time I received it! Oh well , to late now , another piece of amazon garbage !

TBH as an ASE master mechanic, sometimes we get stumped too! After diagnosing and testing the entire evap system and making necessary repairs I thought it was done. Engine light came back. I figured WTH lemme give this little machine a go. In 20 minutes it revealed a hairline split in one of the flex hoses at the charcoal canister. 3 months, no engine light and emissions test passed. The final confirmation was the jump in gas mileage. Great product. Oh and BTW...dollar tree baby oil works A+++!!!

I have used it exactly twice and both times it did exactly what I needed it to. It will generate smoke that lingers and if you correctly plug up the obvious vacuum ports on your intake and feed the smoke in, then that smoke is going to come out all the non-obvious places. I was a little disconcerted to see smoke come out of the bearings for the throttle shaft, but that will indeed happen if you leave it long enough to build up positive pressure in the manifold because I managed to plug up all the actual leaks. So be sure to use common sense while interpreting your results. -CTH
