He has had so much fun chasing family members with it and figuring out the coordination of the remote control with the movement of the snake. It's not loud and there aren't any lights, other than the snake eyes that illuminate when the power switch is turned on. I can't speak to battery life, other than we haven't had to change batteries yet. We have a busy house with 5 kids and it hasn't broken yet! This doesn't look or feel very durable. The remote must point directly at the spider and be somewhat close or it won't work. The spider gets stuck on rugs and carpet.
