The obvious piece first: be extra careful and don't lock yourself out of your safe. Aka don't place your keys (you get two) in the safe. It's common sense, right? Well, I have no common sense. I thought I could get away with having it in there for a few moments to avoid having one of my pets eat the keys while sorting through my packages. Put a chaotic child relative in the picture, and let's just say your keys can become completely inaccessible in a split second. Unless you're completely alone and able to manage the entire process, don't bother risking it in case someone decides to close the door for you. It was the silliest mistake I could possibly make with a product like this. The good news is that it clearly was doing a very good job of keeping the items inside safe. But the truly excellent news is that when I contacted the seller to troubleshoot, they were able to arrange another parcel for me containing some spare keys. They asked me to send their after-sales support team an email containing my name, phone number, shipping address, and a photo of the number written in over the keyhole. Very simple process, and once they confirmed my information, they were able to send me two spare keys which only took a few days to arrive. The keys worked perfectly as expected, and now I can finally stuff the box with my items. I got the pink one, which is very cute with an even paint job, and I like that it's small enough to be discreet if I wanted to keep it out of view. Another nice touch is that it comes with a piece of cloth/some sort of cloth mat (feels like felt) that you can use to line the bottom of the safe to help protect any delicate items that may scratch easily. With the instructional packet, you really can't go wrong with the product as it explains each component and walks you through the passcode setup as well. All in all, I feel good about storing my things in here. If you have just a few small things that you'd like to stash away in something cute/stylish, this is a great choice, particularly given how responsive, quick, and generous the seller is. If you mount this securely to a sold floor base and back wall base, then this will be good enough to keep most out. Good for LOW grade security. Good for keys, low importance documentation etc. It's not fireproof or waterproof, but it doesn't claim that it is. Build is pretty solid and will definitely cause problems for most naughty people, but will not stop a determined thief. It's also small. Not too Small, but do check the size before buying. It's Finnish is good. Might have some sharp edges internally where the machine milling wasn't fully chamfered. Comes with batteries and a override key. I would NEVER use this for firearms, medication or anything high value. But for stuff you need away from anyone but you, it's a great little safe. Very easy to install and use.     • A Little Smaller Than I Thought

This safe is functional but it was a little smaller than I thought. Probably due to my not reading or comprehending the dimensions closely enough. It's very useful, however, and can be mounted anywhere I want. I wish I had bought a bigger one though.

    • Decent for the price--no option to disable the beep (but you can do that with a soldering iron)

Look, this is a cheap safe--the walls are thin, and it would not stand up to an aggressive attempt to get in by someone with hand tools. But if you don't need something highly secure, you just need something that will prevent others from getting access to valuables or firearms, this will do the job. And if you want, you can easily bolt it to a wall or shelf or inside a cabinet to make it difficult to just pick it up and walk away. It comes with two bolts and is pre-drilled for them. One very annoying thing is that there does not appear to be any method in the design to disable the "beep" that sounds any time a key is pressed. That means that you cannot silently gain access to the contents. A fairly simple way to fix that is to remove the buzzer/speaker. When the door is open, the plastic cover over the electronics can be removed with a screwdriver. The electronics board is held in place by three small plastic clips that can be pinched to remove it. Unplug the three small cables (don't try to detach the ribbon cable). Flip over the board, and you'll see a small black cylinder which is the speaker. If you use a soldering iron to carefully melt the two solder points where the speaker is attached to the board, it will pull right off, and voila, the safe is now silent. I found that the buttons and lights still work just fine. Of course, this also means that the alarm for repeated incorrect code entries won't work either. But it will allow for silent access to the safe, which could be important for home security purposes. ... show more
