This works great, and I love the product. My biggest complaint is that this came completely dead, I had to charge it on a wall charger before install.

    • The Nest Thermostat E works like a charm!
I love this thermostat! I had an old (pardon the wording) nipple style thermostat with only the R and W wires. No C-wire available to use the higher end units that had more features and required a C-Wire for power. This unit runs off the low voltage coming off the R wire and has its own internal battery that is charged off the R wire as well. This allows the unit not have any issues with dropping wifi when the power going to it fluctuates at all. I love that i can remotely control the temp of my house. If I go away for the weekend for any amount of time, i can lower the temp to save some energy and then be able to warm the house up before I come home. You can also by little button temp sensors that connect to the thermostat and you can set the temperature based on the temp of one of those button temp sensors so that anyone in those rooms will stay comfortable as well. You can set your own schedules pretty easily in the app or you can have it learn what you like. My old house also has an older furnace so it is does save me money to lower the heat when gone for an extended amount of time. Newer homes are more efficient and it won't necessarily help as much. ... show more

Installation isn’t very clear unless you are a hvac technician. Setup and wiring are more complicated then necessary. I wouldn’t waste my money on this if I knew before hand. Tech support was the absolute worst, only told me the unit wasn’t working lol . Do not buy

    • Wow! Can't Believe I waited So Long.
My adult kids dragged me kicking and screaming into a fully automated connected-home, including the Google Nest thermostats. What was I waiting on? I love the ability to raise or lower the temp from my bed; switch from heat to cool or cool to heat; or just turn on the fan. All from the comfort of my bed, sofa or kitchen table. It also has unlimited scheduling ability, so you can tell it when to turn on, turn up, turn down, whatever. Plus it learns your cooling/heating preference as you adjust your heat/cooling throughout the day, and automatically adjusts your schedule for you. My wife loves the white, low profile mount. She thinks the metallic one looks tacky and bulky. This one is sleek, modern and disappears/blends into the wall. ... show more

    • Not as smart as you’d expect
The auto schedule is terrible, and turning off the schedule all together is even worse. My energy star rated, super insulated and efficient new house was ALWAYS freezing. I have central air and forced air heat for reference. I had the thermostat set to warm if temp was below 70 degrees and cool if temp was above 74, and almost every day I’d walk in the room to find the temperature at 62 degrees. I tried to switch it to heat to 75 degrees and it would take an hour just to turn the heat on. I figured out that the temperature would stop swinging if I set the schedule to 72 degrees every hour, meaning it would never change, and that’s helped tremendously. The sensor is probably my favorite part. Our bedroom stays hotter in the summer and colder in the winter than the thermostat reads. The sensor has evened the playing field. It's easy to make a schedule and we are so much more comfortable.

Easy to install. Works great. Having the Cool/Heat mode is amazing. I never have to switch between heat or cool, the thermostat will automatically run the furnace and AC when needed to keep temp within my designated range.
