Haven't used it yet, but the rod seems nice for the price! Very light as well (7'md/fast). My heart dropped when I got home to see it in a box that had three bent spots in it. Surprisingly the rod was uninjured, so all is well. I recommend tubes for full customer satisfaction though. Thanks

I LOVE this rod! I retired a 50 year old 10' bamboo rod (very slow, deep load, & super forgiving). So I was very nervous about starting over with something SO different. After setting it up with a 5wt Reddington Rise, 20lbs backing, & RIO Trout weight forward line & spending a little time practicing my cast I was shocked at the speed, accuracy, distance I was able to achieve with little to no effort. We spent a week in Colorado on the upper Rio Grande fishing every day & the TFO Blue Ribbon did not disappoint, I was able to consistently cast across the river to hit small eddys & riffles that in the past I had to cross the stream or deep wade to fish & I wasn't throwing heavy flys. I was regularly using a #12 parachute Adam's & a copper john as a dropper & switching to hopper patterns in the late afternoon. All in all this is probably one of the best purchases I've made & its got me very excited about fly fishing again. Don't tell the wife but I'm thinking about getting the 8wt & starting to fly fish for largemouth closer to home! ... show more

The rod was shipped in a plastic bag only (no box). Not surprisingly, three of the rod guides were bent. I was able to bend them back in place, but I wasn't comfortable with the overall integrity of the rod given the poor shipping. I have purchased far cheaper rods that were shipped in a protective cardboard tube. The rod itself was a 7' medium fast action, but seemed more like a medium light compared to other medium fast action rods I own. If I was purchasing this brand again I would select the medium heavy instead for inshore saltwater use. I decided to return the rod and went with a Penn model with the same features and price. ... show more

I bought this rod (model 9’ 6” 6 wt line) for sea run cutthroat fishing in Puget Sound. This type of fishing is mostly wading on rocky beaches with fairly long casts in sometimes windy conditions. Fishing all day, this rod is a joy to cast and I have had no problem casting pretty large, weighted flies with it. The only drawback is there is no hook keeper, but otherwise I really like the rod and plan to buy another lighter model soon for freshwater trout. Excellent fly rod at a great price. ... show more

Everything these guys make is awesome. This is my fifth TFO rod. Are usually fish a BVK. I bought this because it’s a little softer and a little more sensitive. 10ft 5weight. The rod case that it comes with is high quality. This casts like a dream. It is very easy to load. Perfect for roll casting. It really minimizes all the false casting that one would need to do. Trust me when I tell you,that this is the best rod you can have. There is a lot of brand out there, but my friend this is the only rod you’re going to need. 7,6 Medium Heavy. You can do anything you want with this rod.

CAUTION I received two different size rods when they’ were supposed to be the same. Secondly, upon opening the eyes were all bent and distorted. The eyes in the picture shouldn’t be pointing up or down.
