  • Great for high-roof camper van conversions!
Size: 12.5FT-All Aluminum
I’m converting a Promaster 2500 high roof and needed to climb on top of the van to install a fan and solar panels. I do have a ladder mounted to the back, but it’s not easy to use with stuff in my hands, and I’m too old and too fat to climb up onto the roof from the top of it! This 12.5 foot is perfect. In the photo, you can see it reaches my roof with the top two sections still folded, and extends above the roof by about 2 feet when fully extended. This is tall enough for me to reach the roof and safely dismount (I secure it to the roof rack with a ratchet strap if I’m alone without anyone to spot me). The bottom should sit about 2 feet out from the van for safety (about a foot for every 4 feet of height). This means that the 12.5-foot ladder reaches around 10 feet high when you allow for the angle. The feet sit securely in place and have never slipped or moved, yet I can lift the ladder into another position if I want to when I’m on the roof—it’s not too bottom-heavy or grippy to keep me from repositioning it when I want to. I’m going to keep this ladder in my van when I hit the road because it’s so lightweight and takes up little room. I’m a middle-aged woman and only 5-foot-4, but I can easily carry this under my arm. It will be far more useful for me than the attached ladder when I need to climb on top to service the solar panels or scrape snow. The only downside is that this ladder (and any aluminum) gets CRAZY cold in low temps! I had to start using it during the winter, and the ladder was far colder than anything else I came in contact with—even colder than the metal on the van. I had to put on work gloves to use it under 40 degrees. I’ll experiment with a few materials to see if there’s a way to add “warm” handholds on each section without hindering the ladder’s ability to collapse. Plastic coating would help this, but it would also add weight to the ladder, so I’m happy with the product. ... show more

  • Cool Ladder
Size: 12.5FT-Slow Descend
I bought this to be able to access my high roof van for cleaning and other work and found that I use this ladder in my garage too instead of another step ladder. It is solid, easy to use, and I installed some pads where the part of the ladder rests on my van in order not to scratch it. It's cool that it collapses so small and is easily stored and taken with me. ... show more

  • Unsure
Size: 12.5FT-All Aluminum
I just used this once for a small quick project. When you release the locks watch your finger cuz it slams shut with weight behind it quick. Mashed the crap out of my finger. I have not extended it all the way yet. It is heavier than you think.

  • Works better than I expected
Size: 12.5FT-Slow Descend
After reading the negative reviews, I had my doubts about this ladder. I have taken it on several home inspections now and find it quite usefel. I have not had any issues with the ladder yet. It is sturdy and extremely portable so thats a bonus. I would buy again.

  • Easy to use
Size: 15.5FT-Slow Descend
Very easy to set up. Works great. People who are under 5'5" 160 cm might find the distance between the rungs a bit large, but still manageable. Goes up quick, comes down easily and just like it says in the book. Fits in almost any car boot. What's not to like?

  • Junk! Do not waste your money
The media could not be loaded. This thing is completely unsafe. It is not sturdy at all. The rungs jam frequently and sometimes they all collapse at once. They do not slowly collapse either so watch your fingers. This is a dangerous product that I will be returning immediately!

  • Helped my change a bulb that blew out 10 years ago
Size: 15.5FT-Slow Descend
Not as easy to use as I thought but I managed to make it work. Finally changed the bulb in the stairwell that I couldn’t get to with a regular ladder. Seemed stable enough for me and I’m 230 lbs although it was a little scary, especially at the upper portion. Not sure I’d want to use it every day. Great for occasional use but make sure your life insurance is paid and you have a good marriage. ... show more
