  • Incredible Table that Turns
This is as high quality as you can get without going ridiculous. This is the TT you want if you are spending 1K-1500. Sounds phenomenal. Beautiful. I added an AT-VM540ML and it’s a major step up from the stock cart, AT-VM95c which is very good by itself and which the stylus is easily upgraded to a microline(ML) AT-VMN-95ML for around $150 which is well worth it. Check the VTA as the lock was unlocked when I received it and was a little low and set it to the recommend spec in the manual (3). I laid a carpenters knife blade laid flat on the plinth deck to align to the correct line, eyeballing is deceiving. Get a round horizontal bubble level to level the deck. Good to have one as you should check it routinely. Set the anti skating to the tracking weight (2gms) then back off to at least 1.5 on the anti skate dial. Too much anti skate will cause your cantilever to bend over time. You don’t want the tone arm fighting against the inward pull to much as it goes to the the center of the LP. The rca cable is good that comes with it but I recommend something like the Pangea Audio Premier SE TT cable if you can afford it ($99). It is outstanding. You will need an external phono stage or amp/preamp as this TT does not have an internal one( which is a good thing). Spend at least $300 at minimum on the phono stage. Many good ones out there, a cheaper one will work but you just bought a 1K TT and your ears deserve it. I am extremely happy with the quality, sound, feel, and look. ... show more

  • Amazing turntable.
The best turntable in this price range without a doubt. Has all the solid features of any and every expensive turntable, with the added piece of mind of the needle not ruining your favorite record labels, and/or wrecking the cartridge itself, if for some reason you get side tracked whilst listing to your favorite music and forget the turntable is running. Most of the automatic turntables Ive tried are very cheap and low quality, so I settled half way on this, for the very reason stated above. I don’t k know how many times I’ve forgotten the music running while cleaning the house or something, and come back to a disaster in the music room with terrible loud noise and my record label etched round and round from the needle. So am very pleased and happy I went with this turntable . Works like a charm lifting up about a half a minute after any and every album gets done playing. I’m currently using this with the Ortofon 2M Black with a total cartridge and headshell weight of about 18.2 grams. Sounds fantastic! Can’t go wrong with a quality name like technics. Been around for years. ... show more

  • Solid, durable, and musical.
After many rounds of turntable upgrades, I think I finally found the sweet spot here. This is one heavy duty beast, extremely well isolated from vibration. I challenge you to find a way to make it skip; I tried jumping up and down right next to the stand and it just kept on going. The tonearm is surprisingly light and nimble, a contrast to the very heavy arm on my Fluance, which opens up a wide array of cartridge upgrades. The tonearm height is easily adjustable with no Allen wrenches or third hands required to pull it off, and the dust cover just snaps into place. My Music Hall was a fine table, but incredibly fiddly- I had to reglue the dust cover hinges, replace the tonearm rest, and resolder the lead wires. Vinyl may be a hobby, but that’s quite a pain! I don’t foresee any such problems here, as the Technics has been designed for “consumers” in the best sense of the term. The motor spins up and brakes quickly, and there’s no audible hum - backgrounds are as black as any belt drive I’ve heard. If I have one complaint, it’s about the included cartridge; calling the VM95C “audiophile” as the marketing does is pretty misleading, and that conical stylus is pretty “meh”. But if you have your own preamp, you can save some money here over the Technics 1500C and put that savings into a VMN95ML or SH stylus, and then you’re really cooking. Properly set up - and setup isn’t even hard! - this turntable aces every genre I’ve thrown at it (I have a lot of classical vinyl, plus plenty of jazz, rock, and hip-hop). The level of polish here is outstanding and you just can’t argue with the sound. ... show more

  • The last turntable you’ll ever need.
I have had many dj turntables over the years. This replaced a Stanton. It’s absolutely amazing. The sound quality is off the charts. Technics made a turntable that is now the centerpiece of my living room. It looks beautiful. It’s heavy and feels solid. It’s not a toy. I spent the extra money because I wanted a record player I could have for the rest of my life and this investment is exactly what I was hoping for. It was super easy to set up. If you are buying this you probably know how to set up a turntable so it is extremely user friendly and fit in in about ten minutes. If you have the money buy this record player. You won’t regret it. ... show more

  • Auto lift does NOT work on any LP
Defective and not as advertised. Also, just noticed 15% lower price today vs. 5 weeks ago when purchased. I feels scammed.

  • Poor Quality Control ! Tonearm and Platter
First SL-100C I received was not set up correctly. When connecting the cartridge to the tonearm, the azimuth was way off. I tried to correct it by adjusting the cartridge but I was still unable to get it to line up correctly. To correctly adjust it you need to access the screws on the underside of the tonearm, which are not easily accessible unless your remove it from the turntable. Upon receiving the second SL-100C I I was relieved that cartridge and tonearm were aligned correctly. But, when I turned it on the platter had a terrible wobble to it. I tried reseating the platter to make sure no debris was under it but this did not resolve the issue. After doing some research others have had this same issue. I am very disappointed as I really wanted to have this turntable. But it is apparent that there are some major issues with the consistency of Technics’ quality control for this product. I personally feel it’s not worth the $1,100.00 price tag. There are much better turntables on the market for less. ... show more
